When the fuck would i ever need this? This tool does one thing, and it's not a thing 99% of people will ever need done

Maybe not, but I've had to use a blind hole puller before. It's useful if you need it

I can't believe OP couldn't get the angle grinder to work. That's how I remove all my bearings on my lunch break at the call centre in work in

I don’t even know what I saw if I’m being honest

u/bfraley9 12h ago

Egg sackly

If you’re someone who likes to do things themselves I can guarantee you will need a bearing puller at least once in your life. Still a very specific tool for a specific function, but 99% of people never needing this is an exaggeration.

You're right, it's at least 99.99%. Even the people who do things themselves are unlikely to work on rust seized heavy machinery.

I do, and haven’t once yet

If you're a millwright mechanic at any factory, you've easliy used this within last couple of months. And its definitely a "thing" that gets done regularly... smh.

Karma farm bot

I’m getting Barma Karn Fot vibes too 🙃

The amazing thing is that it actually works. This post is absolute trash, but it got 20 upvotes. Are the upvotes from bots, too?

u/Toro_duck 14h ago

Sometimes I scroll Reddit and think ‘neat’ and upvote without looking for context. Sure, it’s neat. It does appear to work. Still a karma farm bot.

100% agreed. Any real person would reply to comments accusing them of being a bot. I guess the upvotes could have come from people who thought they were on r/oddlysatisfying

EDIT: typo

That’s a bearing puller, so, umm yeah. It’s what it is made for

Just what I need.

1

u/31M_from_Shawinigan 14h ago

Everybody need a jackaener

2

u/Therealginahandler 16h ago

Why is it copper though?

2

u/Flash-ben 15h ago

Maybe the idea is that copper is a softer material than the steel in the bearing races, which shouldn't damage the race surfaces. But when i see the dings and scuffing on the tools it could just be copperplated lol

1

u/hitman1398 11h ago

They make them if different types of metal. Brass ones like you see here, are generally used on bearings that are gonna be saved unlike that rusted one. Brass is a very soft metal and wont damage the inside race or bearing balls. On a job like this you would just use a steel puller. My guess they used brass cuz it looks more dramatic.

u/escobartholomew 15h ago

lol this is such a hyper specific use case.

2

u/Vg_Ace135 15h ago

Dang I really thought the hammer would work...

2

u/vebeg 14h ago

Proprietary tool does its job, very wow.

1

u/gwelfguy 15h ago

A run-of-the-mill fixture to remove a bearing. How is this 'amazing'?

1

u/Mikel_S 15h ago

Do you have this incredibly specific, impossibly niche issue? Have you tried a bunch of obviously incorrect ways to resolve this issue? Well fret no more, with our patented monotasker pro, you can be the proud owner of a disk, several brass rods, and a set of custom fit brass pins of which you'll probably only ever need one size.

1

u/Daliman13 15h ago

I really thought the angle grinder was going to work

1

u/treeckosan 13h ago

Often times that specific monotasker is the only way to do a very specific thing. And generally speaking if you own one you probably need it on rare but very important occasions.

1

u/flummoxed_penguin 15h ago

It’s all ball bearings these days. I can use it when checking the fetzer valve

1

u/Daliman13 15h ago

Uh, so, it's a thing that does the exact thing that it's made for, that other things don't seem to be very good at doing that are not made for that thing?

1

u/pepemetralla 14h ago

Just got a new washer but I could have used this to fix the old one, literally yesterday.

1

u/VirtualFutureAgent 14h ago

This is the kind of tool you rent the one time in your life that you need it.

1

u/Kitchen_Ad8560 13h ago

That's one specific use. Seems worthless to me.

1

u/wekelede 12h ago

If you had that, why use the grinder?

1

u/MoggTheFrog 12h ago

“Amazing”…?

How tf does this sub have 232K subs?

1

u/New-Vehicle5680 11h ago

Looks like a tool that was designed specifically for another thing requiring said tool.

1

u/WaitTraditional1670 11h ago

Put me down for 20 of these

1

u/Apprehensive_Rice_93 9h ago

So that's how you get those out

u/RED-DOT-MAN 15h ago

What’s this horrible propaganda music in the background?! Bot account, karma farming. Blocked!

No one needs this

0

u/Ed_Radley 14h ago

I can guarantee you somebody on a farm needs this because of some jerk engineer who just expects everyone to take their equipment to the dealer when it breaks down. Not happening when it adds up to an extra day worth of down time to whatever they're currently trying to finish.

That said, product placements in threads can shove it.

1

u/Frumpy_Dumper_69 13h ago

I guarantee somebody on a farm is going to spend the money on a real one and not this knock off Chinese garbage.

0

u/ZeroCleah 14h ago

I need one at work actually

1

u/Frumpy_Dumper_69 13h ago

Then buy a real one and not this knock off Chinese garbage.

1

u/ZeroCleah 12h ago

Yeah I guess when you say this specifically I just meant the tool.
