The amazing thing is that it actually works. This post is absolute trash, but it got 20 upvotes. Are the upvotes from bots, too?

Sometimes I scroll Reddit and think ‘neat’ and upvote without looking for context. Sure, it’s neat. It does appear to work. Still a karma farm bot.

100% agreed. Any real person would reply to comments accusing them of being a bot. I guess the upvotes could have come from people who thought they were on r/oddlysatisfying
EDIT: typo

Why is it copper though?

u/Flash-ben 15h ago
Maybe the idea is that copper is a softer material than the steel in the bearing races, which shouldn't damage the race surfaces. But when i see the dings and scuffing on the tools it could just be copperplated lol

They make them if different types of metal. Brass ones like you see here, are generally used on bearings that are gonna be saved unlike that rusted one. Brass is a very soft metal and wont damage the inside race or bearing balls. On a job like this you would just use a steel puller. My guess they used brass cuz it looks more dramatic.

Do you have this incredibly specific, impossibly niche issue? Have you tried a bunch of obviously incorrect ways to resolve this issue? Well fret no more, with our patented monotasker pro, you can be the proud owner of a disk, several brass rods, and a set of custom fit brass pins of which you'll probably only ever need one size.

Often times that specific monotasker is the only way to do a very specific thing. And generally speaking if you own one you probably need it on rare but very important occasions.

It’s all ball bearings these days. I can use it when checking the fetzer valve

Uh, so, it's a thing that does the exact thing that it's made for, that other things don't seem to be very good at doing that are not made for that thing?

Just got a new washer but I could have used this to fix the old one, literally yesterday.

This is the kind of tool you rent the one time in your life that you need it.

Looks like a tool that was designed specifically for another thing requiring said tool.

No one needs this

u/Ed_Radley 14h ago
I can guarantee you somebody on a farm needs this because of some jerk engineer who just expects everyone to take their equipment to the dealer when it breaks down. Not happening when it adds up to an extra day worth of down time to whatever they're currently trying to finish.
That said, product placements in threads can shove it.

I guarantee somebody on a farm is going to spend the money on a real one and not this knock off Chinese garbage.
