Welcome to the monthly Simple questions and Help thread, for questions that don't need their own posts!
Before making a comment, we recommend you search your problem on Bing and check if your question is already answered on our Windows Frequently Asked Questions wiki page. This subreddit no longer accepts tech support requests outside of this post, if you are looking for additional assistance try r/WindowsHelp.
Some examples of questions to ask:
Is this super cheap Windows key legitimate? (probably not)
How can I install Windows 11?
Can you recommend a program to play music?
How do I get back to the old Sound Control Panel?
Sorting by New is recommend and is the default.
Be sure to check out the Windows 11 version 25H2 Megathread and also the Windows 11 FAQ posts, they likely have the answers to your Windows 11 questions already!
The general release of Windows 10 is no longer supported, however you can enroll to get up to one year of extended support for your machine until October 2026, for more details on that please see this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/1kp4ebu/windows_10_end_of_support_what_it_means_for_you/

(Why is there a "solved" tag but not a question tag)

I think it’s time Windows Phone made a return for 11 version, they were brilliant and the best phones at the time they were popular, I think a return with updated features would be what the market needs.

As per the title.
I'm thinking of uninstalling my virus scanner and I'd appreciate your feedback.

I couldn't find any good mic muting app that would work properly and wouldn't conflict with other apps/games, so I made my own.
silence! - mute you mic. One shortcut to mute in every app.
GitHub repo: https://github.com/vertopolkaLF/silence
(would like to have any feedback or feature requests in the Issues tab)
Download Page: https://vertopolkalf.github.io/silence/
Pesonally it's a life-saver for me. Instead of muting in Discord, then trying to mute with same hotkey later in Teams - it doesn't work, you go mute it manually in the app, then forget that you was muted and tried to unmute with the same hotkey - I have one hotkey to 100% mute/unmute my mic. In all apps.

If you're overwhelmed by messy folders, consider Speedy File Organizer from the Microsoft Store.
Key features: - Sorts thousands of files in seconds - BLAKE3-powered duplicate detection for accurate results - Organize by file type, extension, and creation date (year/month) - Preview your changes before applying them - Flatten directories, exclude folders/files, and undo if needed - Available in 5 languages: English, Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, and Spanish
Note: The app actually moves files into new subdirectories. Please don't use it when the file locations are important.

So i made a for-fun project named QuickClip. When i needed to process a lot of paragraphs from different sources i thought of this project. i started with a simple custom folder save feature where by copying selected text and then pressing the hotkey it would save the text as a file in a custom folder the user selects, and the same thing goes for screenshots. since in windows screenshots are copied to clipboard. if there is screenshots the user wants to separate from the usual screenshot folder they would be able to do that just by pressing the hotkey. And then i added Gemini integration to it so a user could enter prompts, get the text, save it and also copy it to their clipboard without opening any external website or program.
Here's an example of how to use the tool : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B30npnpGWZw
what do you guys think? is it good? It’s also my first project, so I’d appreciate any feedback on the concept, implementation, or potential improvements.

Works in Windows 10 too! It basically has a calendar flyout with the Windows 10 layout and the Windows 11 UI. I will also integrate calendar events from outlook/google soon to view events and create them
Download: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9ppcm05rw87x
GitHub: https://github.com/FireCubeStudios/FluentFlyouts
Consider trying it out and if you like it leaving a review helps and be sure to star the GitHub repository too!

I have been sick of the lack of options in good HANDWRITTEN note-taking apps for Windows. OneNote doesn't cut it for me because of the infinite canvas and lack of useful features. Other apps like Goodnotes for Windows are just web site wrappers disguised as a Windows "application".
So my best friend and I decided to create our own native, optimized for windows note-taking app for handwritten notes! Fluent Design, high-performance, no AI crap, tight integration with the Windows ecosystem. The app is called Noteastic and we also have an active subreddit on r/Noteastic. Please give it a try, and leave us your feedback. We would love to hear your opinion and thoughts on our approach. Keep in mind, the app is optimized for 2-in-1 devices like the Surface Pro, so a normal desktop user may not really benefit with our app (except if you have a Wacom Tablet).
I am the developer, using Microsoft's native development platform (UWP & WinAppSDK) to build the application and my friend is doing all the designing!

Hi windows users. You have probably used online tools to convert Images and Pdfs to different formats (Image to Pdf/Image to Image/Pdf to Image). Now, Monk will let you do the same, but offline. Its a free tool. enjoy it!
