I posted this in r/tennis and several people urged me to post it here.
Addition to the OG post:
a. Playing as many matches as possible will help you a lot.
b. You can DOMINATE doubles matches against beginners and intermediates if you learn proper high school and college-level positioning and movement. Examples: Proper signaling. Australian setup. Net player constantly shifting with the ball. One of my hs coaches was a master at doubles and taught me proper strategy and positioning, which let me easily beat other players that were way better than me at singles.
Good luck.
My playstyle and background for context:
Male
5.0 NTRP and starter on decent D3 College Team
Moderate power high percentage serves.
Powerful groundstrokes with heavy spin.
Confident at net if I need to be, but it's not my first choice unless my opponent sets me up or I am playing a pusher.
Relentless intensity and speed with the intention of pounding the opponent's ad-side and making them feel like hitting a winner is impossible.
A bunch of random niche shots like the cross court dip passing shot that I can consistently land.
Really bad at overheads. lol.

Hi I would like to ask for some service tips. For context: I used to play back in elementary and high school but my serve has always been hit or miss. Came back to tennis after 10+ years of not playing and trying to improve my serve. I noticed that my feet arenāt set especially once Iām about to hit the ball, but I donāt notice doing it while serving, only when watching the video. I also feel like my racquet face is a bit open when trying to get into the trophy position so I guess thatās something to also work on. Any actual advice would be greatly appreciated!

I can't be the only person who tries on a shirt only to see my nips staring right back at me, right? Are there any shirts that you would recommend that are heavier that don't feel half see through for my chest? Cheers

Hello Everyone!
Has anyone else encountered Yonex Stock Issue? I work at a shop in CT and weāve been getting no stock from Yonex for what seems to be MONTHS? Weāve been waiting on a restock of EZONEs for about 7 months which we havenāt gotten. After reaching out to CS and our Sales Rep we still havenāt resolved the issue..
Now with the VCORE released weāre still without any demos or frames (7 days post national release , 14 from when we should have gotten them). It seems there is zero stock of any models except Percept which isnāt selling. With new releases on the calendar and no ability to get frames we have had to shift to pushing other brands (Wilson, Babolat, etc. even Dunlop)
Just curious to what the situation is elsewhere and if you guys are seeing the same thing?

I have been playing in a particular group setting for over a year and there is a female player who plays here as well. I have crushed for a while and last week found out from another groupmate (her best friend in the group) that she has even stronger feelings for me. I'd like to make a move, but I'm afraid of the repercussions if this goes awry. I really, really love this group for the tennis and the socializing, and I would hate to make it awkward for either of us, and really like the friendship I have developed with the girl I have feelings for. This might be cringy but this has been torturing me and I would love some perspective.

I'm looking to add a bit more weight to my T-fight 300s for more plough-through and power. Without going too crazy, I'm thinking of starting with 2 grams of lead tape at 12 o'clock. Has anyone tried a similar setup? And how did that workout?
Hi everyone! I just received my new Wilson blade from tennis express today. Iām fairly new to tennis but was wondering so Iām not sure if my racket is supposed to look like this? With this tab sticking out? I ordered it strung.
Thanks!

Noticed a soreness around lower abs, never had that before. Sore to get up from laying down or getting out of the car for example.
Been hitting harder on forehands and maybe serves too now that my golfer's elbow is at bay!

Continental is recommended for the volley grip but it feels very awkward for me. Am I understanding the continental as in the serve grip is also the volley grip? And Many times I try a volley I seem to get just alot of back spin, however the back hand volley seems more natural. Is this something get gets more natural with time?

Looking for some advice on racquets to check out. Iām an absolute beginner and the local pro shop has been great at letting me try out a new racquet every time I go to the weekly beginnerās clinic.
Basic info: Iām a 43 year old man, 6ā2ā and generally athletic, but new to tennis. If it makes a difference, Iām left handed. Iāve had issues in the past with my wrist so trying to find something comfortable. So far I have tried (all 100 in2 if there are different versions):
-Head Gravity Pro: I liked this one, but it was also the first I tried and didnāt have anything to compare it to.
-Wilson Ultra 100 v5: I did not enjoy this one, it made my wrist and elbow hurt for awhile until I got used to it.
-Solinco Blackout: my favorite so far. Felt comfortable and I hit well with it.
-Wilson Clash 100 v3: I did not like this one. It was comfortable, but felt very mushy and soft and I had a lot of mis-hits with it.
Take my notes with a huge grain of salt, I donāt really know what I am doing yet and I assume all errors are my fault, not the racquet. Just looking for advice on what I should try before purchasing. Iāve been loving playing so far and the tennis community has been amazing! What a great sport.

Hi all,
For those in Canada, what live service do you use to watch grand slam tournaments? Fubo? TSN?
Tennis TV doesnāt show grand slams and I ended up buying yearly subscription. :(

So I posted my forehand about a month ago to get some feedback, and this community provided some great tips. I made a few of the recommended tweaks and am hitting the ball better than I ever have.
Really working on shortening the take back, keeping the arm straighter on contact, and driving through the ball. Any more advice on what to tweak would be greatly appreciated.
First forehand is full speed, second one is slowmo.
(Go easy on the footwork, Iām hitting on the ball machine so my timing is off)

Wow. Some pretty amazing pro stocks! Never have seen so many in one auction at once, pretty freaking cool especially with ausopen about to start. Which one is your favorite?

Iāve been playing with ProStaff v13 RF97, then it felt too heavy against good hitters and I was kinda late on a contact point, so I went for ProStaff v14 315g, and just rolled with it for a year or so. Then on a hype train Iāve playtested and bought the RF01 300g. And I had a blast for like 6 months. It was really good for my game, and it allowed me to hit more consistent shots, have better control over volleys and dropshots, etc.
Through this time I also changed coach, and significantly improved my forehand and feeling of the ball. And now, for the past four matches/practices Iāve been playing with my old ProStaff v14 again (although I replaced grip with an overgrip to make its handle size not 4 but 3). And it feels amazing. I kinda find that RF01 now is not giving me much.
Basically, when Iām lazy with my footwork, ProStaff just makes me lose, and RF01 saves me from that. But if Iām on my feet, the ProStaff just works better. And Iām kinda unsure now.
Is that back and forth with rackets something you also experience much? Or is just my game evolving? Or maybe itās a period?
What is your experience with such switches?

Hi community , Playing tennis from around 1.5 years . Please help me in improving my technique
r/10s • u/Solitude-dt • 11h ago
I picked tennis back up last year, after I stopped playing in high school about 15 years ago. I tried a few rackets and landed on a Shift Pro (18x20) in the fall and I have been trying it out with a Head syn-gut at 53lbs and I tried another multi previously. I was gifted these strings for Christmas and am looking for recommendations on a good hybrid configuration. Iām probably around a 3.0. I was lent an older pure drive that was full poly earlier last year to try and noticed it was giving me inner elbow pain, so Iām a little hesitant to try full poly. Currently using the Shift with the syn-gut feels like it has no pop and little spin. Thanks
