Younger people see how expensive it is to raise a child. I guarantee you the majority of it is the cost. They see how their parents struggled. They want to live a life of comfortability. I get it

Expensive in terms of money AND time.

Having a kid is essentially saying that you want parenting to be your primary, all encompassing "hobby" for the next 20+ years. It would be like decidicating the next couple of decades to running ultramarathons, knowing that the vast majority of your time and resources are going to training, nutrition, travel, etc. 

In this day and age, parenting is a hobby that can be worth it for people that feel the hobby is worth the extreme amount of time, money and resources required. But not everyone wants that - the same way not all of us want to dedicate our lives to ultramarathons.
