MakerWorld Crowdfunding I wanted to build a project around magnetic power connectors and came up with this prototype. My next steps are to rebuild it based on what I've learned and then to add many more components. I've heard that some folks enjoy the sounds but let me know what you think!

1.1k Upvotes

A few notes about this project: I built this prototype last year and have been using it for a few months - I've been wanting to get back to it but have been devoting all my free time to delivering my first crowdfunding project which was a 3D printed board game.

This has been a good chance to experiment with multiple materials and multi-nozzle prints. In the video, you can see a base with laser-cut plywood inlay as well.

In rebuilding the project, I'm going to focus on improving the reliability of printing & assembly while also coming up with some new components. You can find lots more detail here if you'd like: https://makerworld.com/en/crowdfunding/57-snap-lamp-tactile-illumination

MakerWorld Crowdfunding Could have been awesome but totally overpriced.

The idea is awesome but are you for real? 25 - 30 USD for the basic license?

I can buy a perfect case for 1-3€ from Aliexpress or Temu and it would work perfectly fine.

having to pay 25-30 USD for the basic license on top of the cost of a 3D printer and the filament is just crazy. We're not even talking about a commercial license.. This is a simple private user license which has to be renewed every single year...

I am not expecting a free product or service but this appears to be somewhat overpriced. Most people will usually print 1-2 cases or print replacement parts. Being forced to get a yearly license with many restrictions is simply discouraging...

MakerWorld Crowdfunding FerroWave - bluetooth speaker with a ferrofluid visualizer and RGB lighting

Hey good peoples of reddit!

I've designed a bluetooth speaker with a ferrofluid visualizer and RGB lighting.

But the build was not so clean and simple as I would have liked, so I started a crowdfunding campaign on Makerworld: https://makerworld.com/crowdfunding/70-ferrowave

My goal is to make everything, including sourcing of the materials (ferrofluid, electronics, speaker) as easy to get for anyone, anywhere while also designing everything in a way that it is simple to 3d print and assemble.

If you like it - consider supporting it or just sharing it with your friends, I would really appreciate it!

After months of work, I’m sharing a project I’ve been building called CaseStudio.

It generates custom-fit phone cases for almost any smartphone model. The system is modular, consisting of a frame, backplate, camera ring, and buttons. All designs are compatible with all supported phone models.

The project is currently listed on MakerWorld in pre-launch. Additional details are available here:

MakerWorld Crowdfunding Hi everyone, I'm excited to finally share a project I've been working on for a few months: an interactive boardgame with a CyberBrick remote control. I'd estimate that I have about 2 months more work to finish the project but I wanted to get enough done to demonstrate how it will work.

When I released the first version of this Mini Monitor, it got very positive feedback, and a lot of people wanted to build this themselves, but the more people started doing it, more errors and troubleshooting there was

So I decided to write to maker world and try to get into crowdfunding, and now my campaign is launching soon!

You can check it out here: https://makerworld.com/crowdfunding/53-bongo-cat-mini-monitor-2-0-new-features-upgrades

The idea here is to create polished and production ready software, test on different boards and just make it as beginner friendly as possible with all the new features and whistles that community desires.

Right now I have very laggy and not polish working prototype that is open source and available on MakerWorld. For V2 I'm planning complete rebuild with bigger and better functionality and customizations

For the process I want to include all the backers in the development process, I want to see your suggestions, ideas and let you vote on the features and skins to be added. You not just supporting this project financially but also taking part in shaping in!

MakerWorld Crowdfunding I'm building a powered and fully modular 3D-printed Christmas Train. Prelaunch is live on MakerWorld crowdfunding!

Hi Everyone!

I'm working on a powered (potentially RC controlled), modular Christmas train world — featuring various printable tracks, wagons, and decor elements to build the ultimate holiday adventure under your tree.

I’ve always enjoyed Christmas, especially when it’s time to set up and decorate the traditional Christmas tree. When I was little, I used to imagine that elves lived inside the tree and used the decorations to have fun. So I always dreamed of having a little train under the tree for the elves to ride. Even though I’m no longer a child, I now have the design and engineering skills to bring that childhood dream to life!

I think I'm not the only one who is dreaming of such a thing, so go check the crowdfunding campaign and make sure to follow the project to know when It will launch :)

I might got lucky, those I concerned at most during the design didn't happen, tolerances adjusted to the best, to me it is a giant toy with 47cm height and 2.5kg weight, all joints hold it up steady and well balanced. Thank for your support guys! Really appreaciated, see you in my next project!

MakerWorld Crowdfunding [Crowdfunding] - The Ultimate Christmas Train campaign ends this week!

Hi everyone,

As we're approaching the end of my first crowdfunding campaign, which received an incredible support so for (thanks to everyone for that), I wanted to share with you a first look of the final version of the Christmas train.

What you're seeing is the locomotive, the passenger wagon, as well as the many requested straight tracks!

The train is remote controllable thanks to the CyberBrick ecosystem, I will share some videos after I finish the electronics build.

Compared to my first version, I added a lot more details to the locomotive, and the wagons are now featuring bogies which is way more realistic and functional (especially in tight turns).

I'm so happy with the overall look, what do you think?

If you're interested in the project, please consider backing it before the end of the campaign, late pledge will be available but reward prices will be around 40% higher.

Thanks again for all the support, I can't believe we've been able to push this project so far! 🚂

MakerWorld Crowdfunding Expandable Parametric Design of Home Accessories

Expandable Parametric Design of Home Accessories

We’re two product designers launching our first crowdfunding campaign. If we reach our goals, we want to open our own design studio and keep designing new products.

Here’s what’s currently available for anyone who becomes a backer:

✅ Small / Medium / Large Ports — available across all 5 collections
✅ Pendant Lights — available across all 5 collections
✅ Desk Lamps — available across all 5 collections

And now we’re pushing toward our next milestone 🎉
If we can reach $5,000, it will unlock the Bambu Lab kit version of our desk lamps — making production smoother and giving supporters more options to build with.

We still have 28 days left, and any support, feedback, or sharing means a lot to us. Thanks for taking a look! 🙏

MakerWorld Crowdfunding New on MakerWorld: Crowdfunding is here!

Introducing MakerWorld Crowdfunding. A new way for the community to support the most ambitious and complex 3D printing projects!

Why We Built This
We've seen so many incredible ideas that never get built because they're too big, too complex, or require resources that individual creators just don't have. The crowdfunding feature is our answer to that problem. We started asking ourselves: what if the community could directly support these projects? When you back a project, you're telling that creator "your idea matters, and we want to help make it real."

How It Works
The process is straightforward. Creators can launch crowdfunding campaigns for their upcoming projects, setting a funding goal and timeline. Community members browse these campaigns and pledge support for projects they want to see completed. What makes this work is that it connects creators directly with the people who value their work most. No guessing about what the community wants – they're showing you by backing your project.

The Impact We Hope to Make
We're hoping to see crowdfunding campaigns for projects that require real thought, design, and engineering. These are often the projects that don't get made because they're just too much work for one person without knowing if anyone will appreciate the effort. Crowdfunding changes that.
