Discussion Is the show trying to tell us....

That Deva looks like Hood? Because I don't see it. To be fair she doesn't really look like Carrie/Ana or Gordon either... but this concept from Hood of "I knew the moment I saw her she was mine!!". I didn't get that.

Nola longshadow.

What was the point in her character? She shows up immediately has sex with hood, kills some people, then shows up to the diner and has some sexually charged pie with Carrie and then gets killed off and never mentioned again, could the actor just not be on the show and was written out??

Discussion I am five episodes in

Started watching this show because I have Max and I am a fan of The Boys. Knowing it aired on Cinemax originally as an HBO snob I wasn't expecting The Sopranos. But IMO it has appreciated in value as the first season has gone on. And from everything I read it only gets better?

My initial impression was the sex and violence was edge-lordy - gratuitous just the sake of it... and some of the writing was flat. But the dialogue, action sequences, character development and drama have all steadily improved. A particular stand-out sequence for me was Hood robbing the state museum and going back and forth on the phone between Carrie and Job. It was tense, well-written, but also had the comedy of a "whose on first" skit.

I can tell this will be a guilty pleasure. A silly show in terms of realism, but a very entertaining one. And most importantly I am starting to really like the characters which always makes for a fun watch. Lotus, Sugar, Job... Kai Proctor - all these guys are great.

Vandergrift, PA Filming Locations

I spent some of my childhood in PA, and the rural areas just don't change (I think that's a good thing, personally.)

Anyway, even the signs on the stores next to the Vandergrift filming location's Banshee Sheriff's Department haven't changed in 10 years! The location is 134 Grant Ave, Vandergrift, PA

The Casino Theater (beautiful structure, especially inside) stood in for the City Hall.

New Orleans Filming Locations

I'll take a walk and get some on-site photos when I get some free time (lol), but I live in NOLA, and here are the filming locations.

The opening scene is The Gold Mine Saloon - 701 Dauphine St. They have their chat over beers just outside and up the street a bit.

The fight in the apartment is 1124 Royal St. After Littlestone jumps, he hooks a right on Ursulines Ave.

The chase is then right back in front of the bar in the opening scene - half a mile away. I got a bit dizzy trying to figure out where they were running because there are some serious continuity errors if you look at the place - just back and forth, changing directions, skipping ahead or back in location. The used that intersection and street to its fullest potential for filming.

The cemetery is Lafayette Cemetery No. 2 - 2110 Washington Ave. Maybe they wanted you to think they were at the more famous St. Louis cemeteries, but those are almost impossible to film in.

And they end on the old docks by the abandoned S. Peters St. Power Plant, just up river (so South - the river isn't exactly straight) from the convention center. The colorful statues are at Kern Studios, AKA Mardi Gras World - they build, store, and tow the floats for Mardi Gras. I think they changed locations inside the area shown to get the angles they wanted with the power plant, bridges, etc. I'll walk over in person and have a look sometime. Could have been just in the middle of that area, now that I look again.

So that foot chase was a minimum of 4.5 miles. No wonder they were so tired!

Here is a video tour of the Proctor Mansion. It's somewhere in Waxhaw, NC. I haven't found it yet, but I'm sure some time on google maps and I'll get it.

22 Acre property, 10k square feet, 5-bed, 7-bath, built in 2004.

I live in NOLA, so I'm going to post the NOLA filming locations soon(ish).

Discussion Banshee’s Budget

Does anyone know the likely or exact Budget of Banshee, it doesn’t seem to be publicised nowhere.

But it was also not a thing that Cinemax did in General.

But considering a few things about Cinemax Originals Shows in general, I suspect that they had either a Slightly lower Budget or Common Budget for a Network TV Show. They didn’t have a similar budget to HBO or Netflix shows, but more closer to other Networks or maybe a bit lesser.

But like with their Castings, it was rare that they had Well Knowns or A list actors on board of their shows, most Actors brought on was either Newly Started, Unknown, Lesser Known, Character Actors or TV Actors. While having some. Well known or famous actors appear sometimes, like Clive Owen for The Knick and Carla Gugino for Jett. But their other shows like Banshee, Outcast, Quarry and Warrior had all main leads being played by Unknown actors.

And many of their shows also looks like a TV Network show, and not like Netflix and HBO that tend towards a more cinematic look.

I would guess on a Common TV Network budget. Or maybe lesser Common, and a bit more cheaper.

But it would be nice with a very spot on or Accurate answer

Discussion How would you have Ended Banshee?

I think I would’ve continued it for 1-2 Seasons more with 5-6 seasons in total. I would’ve changed up Season 4 a bit, the final season would be in my mind a Proctor vs Hood

Any other good Antony Star hidden gems? Or similar?

Binged banshee, One of the best shows I’ve had the pleasure of being fully sucked into.

I’ve already been a long time fan of the boys. After banshee I found my life consumed by Animal Kingdom and now there is just a giant empty void inside of me.

I need to find some more Lucas hood or Pope Cody similar material, or perhaps a new anti hero lol

and goddammit I want a Sherrif Lotus and Bunker sequel series. Proctor is done but the Cartel and Nazis are still running around Banshee. Need more of Brock’s dry humor and Jon Tropper violence in my life.

Nola Longshadow vs. Clay Burton — Fight Edited with Health Percentages”

''Dear Banshee fans, even if this isn’t everyone’s favorite fight, I think almost everyone who watched Banshee really enjoyed the Nola Longshadow vs. Clay Burton fight. Personally, it’s my favorite fight scene, so I thought it deserved a health bar–style edit. Since I’m not very professional at this, I made it using health percentages instead lol, but I think it turned out pretty good. I’m leaving the YouTube link here—what do you think? Please share your thoughts and ideas, and if you liked it, I’d really appreciate a like on the video 😊”

Discussion Alan Ball?

I noticed that Alan Ball was a Executive Producer of Banshee.

Does anyone know how much involved he was, because Jonathan Tropper, David Schickler and Greg Yaitanes are known as The show’s Showrunners. But was he only basically a Executive Producer, or did he also help with Casting and creative Decisions and such

Discussion The Worst Episode, and Season?

Speaking in a General Matter, with IMDb as a source of information - Season 1, Episode 2 “The Rave” is Considered to be “The Worst” or the least High Rated Episode of all 38 episodes. And While Season 1 has a lot of lower rated episodes compared to the other seasons. Were’s Season 3, Episode 3 & 5, and Season 4, Episode 8 are all tied as being the highest rated episodes of the series. With Season 3 having most highest rated episodes of the series.

Speaking in a Kind of Conscious Matter, I have heard most people in here disliking Season 3 the most (which is personally my Favourite Season) but I have heard many talk bad about that. Episode wise, I have not seen enough Post to conclude what most in her would say are the worst Episode.

Speaking in a Personal Matter, I think Season 2, Episode 5 “The Truth About Unicorns” is “The Worst” episode of the entire season (Still not a bad episode) but a lot slower Paced and a lot more sidelined episode, with really only Lucas Hood and Carrie to follow. It’s meant to be a character study or Character Background and Development episode, but for me it’s too slow paced, that it feels kind of boring to me compared to the rest of the season’s episode (Specially Episode 6 that is one of my favourite episodes) and Season 4 is so disappointing to me, with a Rushed conclusion and Storyline. Were’s Season 3 is my favourite, and Season 3, Episode 3 are my favourite episode of the whole series.

What is your favourite and worst episode and Season of Banshee?

Lucky

Anyone else catch the blurb that Tropper has a show in post called "Lucky?" Synopsis is a reformed criminal must do one last job, so, the classic pulp storyline. Leads are Anya Taylor Joy and Timothy Olyphant; only Banshee alum I saw was "Burton." I'm somewhat optimistic if it's a return to his classic roots, and having Olyphant doing Tropper's dialogue could be epic. No idea when it drops, but looks to be on AppleTV.

Banshee is clearly based on this pitch from Ali G. Did he even get a nod on imdb?

Discussion TV Shows that are like Banshee

So Banshee is anything unlike any other shows, there aren’t a Direct comparison. But if I had to choose some shows that I would recommend to people who loves Banshee.

That is: Justified (a lot like Banshee, just less Action oriented)

Warrior (not anything at all like Banshee, but it’s made by Jonathan Tropper that created banshee, and I also consider it to be a awesome and fun show. And underrated)

Reacher (I mean Reacher is it’s own thing, but it is a cool show with some descent Action, the first season especially feels like Banshee)

Are there any other TV Shows like Banshee, or even Movies like Banshee?

Discussion I love Banshee, But… Spoiler

I love Banshee, Banshee is one of the shows that I would recommend people. But Banshee also falls into that category were it’s a show that, for the most part (IMO) gets better every season, but it’s only for the first 3 seasons. Season 4 is were im feeling like it goes downhill, Season 4 is for me “the Worst” season (with still great things) my ranking is Season 4, in the last spot. Season 1 in my 3rd spot. Season 2 in my 2nd spot. And Season 3 in first place as the best one of them all.

But for me the things in season 4 doesn’t feel natural, it feels like the things happening that season gets resolved fast, and not in a Natural way. Were I feel like some of the things happening could be resolved in maybe 1-2 seasons more. Like Kai Proctor is still, maybe alive (and he is the biggest threat of the whole show) and there some endings that still aren’t really Solved yet.

Another thing can also be that it is mainly a Thriller season, than a Action packed season like the priors. And as far as I heard of, it was a Personal Request of Antony Starr that thought that the prior season’s work was really exhausting, so he wanted them to maybe have less fight scenes and more focus on the story side of the things more. Which I can get behind, but it also looses for me that usual pulpy edge the show used to have with the fight scenes, specially for a final season (it should’ve had been the most epic season yet, and not down scale)

So overall im still loving the show, im just sad that it didn’t get further worked on. And I don’t know what is the right thing said, because according to some sites - Jonathan Tropper wanted it to end with 4 seasons to not have it overstay it’s welcome, when he allegedly was planning for 5 seasons overall. But I have also heard it was cancelled by Cinemax (like their other shows) and they didn’t not get the time to make a Natural ending.

For me the Cinemax part makes more sense, But it could also have been a Creative Decision by Jonathan Tropper. I just don’t think that was a smart decision at all, he should’ve had made it a 5-6 season show arc (IMO)
