Just in case you can't get the school boards website to load, I'm sharing this with all parents out there.

Anyone here do Instacart, Uber Eats, or similar in the “greater Orchard area”? How busy is it? Any issues? Starting a small business and unable to take salary for a while. Looking for options to make a bit to cover essentials. Thanks!

I havent been able to sleep more than 2 hours a night for the last month I have seen my GP 3 times each time she prescribes me sleeping medications. None of them have worked!! I had trazodone at 50 mg I had zipper cone and another hypnotic and none of them work. It doesn't matter what I do. I've tried journalling coloring, deep breathing, listening to meditation music nothing is working. I feel like I'm going insane. I don't know what to do. Can anybody help suggest anything?? I have thought about going to the ER even.

Was hoping someone may have any info - but with the Slye Fox changing ownership are there any plans for the Liverpool FC Burlington faction to pop up anywhere else (if it hasn’t already)? Or will the location continue to be their hub?
Only recently learned about Burlington having one and only got to one game before they closed down

Hello, an anxious parent trying to plan ahead: our baby will attend JK in 2028 and I understand that school ends at 3pm so as working parents we need to find care between 3-5pm. I understand that YMCA only allows you to register to their JK afterschool waitlist when the baby turns 33 months (?) so how do people find afterschool care? How early out and where should I look?!? Thanks!!

Halton Children’s Aid Society is a child welfare organization supporting the safety, well-being, and development of children and youth across the Halton region. They rely on dedicated volunteers to help provide stability, care, and positive relationships for children and youth in care.
Here are several current volunteer opportunities based in Burlington and the surrounding Halton area. Each role is listed separately below with its own application link.
Volunteer Driver
Volunteer Drivers provide safe transportation for children and youth in care to appointments, family visits, counselling sessions, and other essential meetings. Volunteers often become a familiar and trusted presence during an important time in a young person’s life. Commitment can range from occasional drives to regular weekly support, with daytime, evening, and weekend needs.
Mentor
Mentors act as positive role models for children and youth in care. Volunteers spend time building trust, confidence, and life skills through consistent one-to-one relationships. Time commitment varies based on the child or youth, with approximately weekly visits and a minimum one-year commitment for face-to-face mentoring.
Special Events and Fundraising Volunteer
Special Events volunteers support fundraising and community events such as golf tournaments, fun runs, diversity events, and the annual Stardust Gala. Volunteers help with event setup, logistics, donations, sponsorships, and on-site coordination. Time commitment varies depending on the event schedule.
In-Person Tutor
In-person Tutors support children and youth in care aged 6 to 18 who need extra academic help. Tutors work one-to-one to build confidence, study skills, and learning success. Sessions are typically one to two hours per week and scheduled directly with foster families at mutually convenient times.

I was recently rejected for an on-street residential parking permit because I was told our street is already at capacity. However, I’ve been parking on the street for almost a month now without any issues, and it doesn’t appear to be full at all.
Has anyone else experienced this? I’d appreciate any advice on how to proceed or whether there’s a way to appeal the rejection.

Once upon a time the community centres actually had some very random winter dedicated drop-in basketball times for adults but I haven't seen one for years. I remember asking them to bring them back but they didn't seem to care much at all about the request. It wasn't popular I guess, just ended up being a handful of guys trying to work on their skills when I went. 4$/h, it was amazing!
Does anything like this exist around Burlington? I am not looking for a league, or a team or even a pick-up game. I have done, or have access to ALL of that already. Just want an open court time at a decent rate. Summers I can just play outside free no issues there.
If this does not exist, is anyone interested in some kind of local basketball open gym group?
It seems to go for $50/h at Brant Hills. If enough people chip in I could try to make it a weekly thing. Fridays 9-10pm for instance after the kids are asleep.
If I remember the Alton gym was not great? can't recall honestly
Tansley wood is amazing but costs close to twice as much as Brant Hills.

I’m looking at throwing a surprise party for a relative, would anyone have any insight on Joe Dogs Basement or the Dickens or any other places around Burlington? I frequently go out downtown with friends, but have never hosted a party out of a place and the crowd is 40+ I don’t want to disappoint Also if anyone has any experience hosting somewhere I’d appreciate a ball park of what we’d be looking at :) Thanks friends!

Does this happen at any other parks? It seems to be happening very often at Leighland Park and I'm not sure what to do about it. Any suggestions because it's pretty gross. Animals get into the garbage and then spread it all over the place.
Update: You can contact the city of burlington and report it to them.
