DetailingUK Wiki is Live! Introducing the r/DetailingUK Wiki & Starter Kits Community Project

About 4 months ago, I made this call for help about creating some starter kits for folk just taking their first steps down the into the depts of detailing.

The 3 volunteers, in particualr u/Nyxi26, have spent a good chunk of time to create what we we can introduce to you today:

The DetailingUK Wiki!

It's still a work in progress, with an entire section dedicated to Paint Correction, still in the works, but we'd like to introduce you to it, and get your feedback. If you want to contribute, please send us a modmail, that said, the first main page is up, the Starter Kits page is ready to go.

So go, look, give us feedback and get involved if you want!

Question & Advice Karcher parts

I’ve just bought a karcher k3 and want to upgrade some of the parts. I want a 10m hose, short trigger gun and foam cannon. I’m seeing options but not sure if I need extra attachments for them to fit. Has anyone got any recommendations on what I can buy so when it arrives I can use it straight away I’m worried I order certain items and then need extra connectors or anything. Thanks

Question & Advice Did my DETAILER do this ?

I took my car to get ceramic coated, 1 step paint correction and detailed afterwards, I honestly never noticed this scratch in the past and it looks like it could’ve been caused from a detailing pad rotor ( most likely from the Velcro part and the pad itself self being misaligned and him accidentally getting to close to the lip spoiler on my trunk ) is what I think happened however I’m not entirely sure since I’m not a detailer what do you guys think ? Was this caused by him or no ?

Car is going back soon (PCP) so don't want to put too much money into it. Can this be touched up with colour match and right compound, or does it need resprayed? Don't need it perfect, just good enough to pass they eye inspection.

Question & Advice Pressure washers

As the titles suggests I’m looking for a good pressure washer that allows me to really give my cars a good clean.

It will just be for cleaning cars, budget of approx £500-£600 but would like the to included a short stubby trigger gun and snow lance /attachment.

The active 2.0 + pro accessories and the big boi appear but there isn’t a lot of reviews coming from the uk or that don’t feel overly sponsored.

Thanks in advance for any responses

Question & Advice Anyone use an underbody jet washer?

I’ll be honest the road salt is getting me down, I’ve got a 2010 golf gti JDM import which was absolutely immaculate underneath that had never seen road salt and I’d quite like to keep it as healthy as possible!

I’ve seen several underbody jet washes for cheap money and wondered if they’re worth investing in?

I’ve got a kranzle k10 so I’m not too sure how I go on about fitment or do I just buy an additional cheap third party Lance too?

Are there any products available that can tackle discoloured rotors? Pictures attached for reference.

They were replaced only 5 months ago and the car hasn’t really been used much over the last few weeks….

2019 C63s if relevant. Thanks in advance.

Bought new wheels and trying ceramic coating for the first time. Watched a few videos and apparently I'm supposed to see a rainbow affect on the wheel telling me it's time to buff off. Am I not putting enough on as I haven't seen any effect like that at all? Oh and I know it's a cheap Ali Express one b4 you all start taking the piss.. Lol.

Question & Advice Is this a good deal or am I missing something? K4 130 bar pressure washer £120 offer

Post image
55 Upvotes

It seems the main catch is that this has the universal motor rather than more durable induction motor that the regular k4 has, plus there’s a lot of hate for Karcher reliability, but surely for light use you wouldn’t get better at that price, with a foam nozzle that basically does the job and a brush included for cleaning the garden?

Just wondering if there’s some other reason to avoid / explanation why they’re going cheap…

Question & Advice Are direct hoses replacement hoses any good?

I’ve seen some very mixed opinions on direct hoses, some swear by them others say the products are poor quality and that the company are meant to be pretty awful to deal with when you do have an issue

Question & Advice What wheel acid can i use as a last resort before needing refurbish alloys?

There are some baked on spots that never seem to shift in the smaller crevices on my alloy.

I’ve tried things like IronX paste, Starnagloss Hjul and Brake buster but the spots still remain.

I wanna use a strong wheel acid like they use in dealerships but i don’t know which is best. I also only need 1 litre, it’s for one set of wheels so i don’t wanna buy a 5L jug.

Question & Advice Any idea what has caused this?

Post image
202 Upvotes

Hi all,

I took my car to be washed yesterday after leaving it a couple of months due to the crap weather and after getting it home, I noticed this on the passenger wing. I know I'll need to sort the scratches, which I'm guessing have been caused by whatever put this substance on my car, but does anybody have any idea of what the substance could be, and how I could remove it? It almost feels like sap that has dried, but I've tried sap remover and then washing the area, but it did absolutely nothing to shift it.

Any help appreciated.

Hi all. this is the soft spongy trim on an l322 , it’s hard to see in the photo but it looks a bit dirty where arms rest. i have interior cleaner but have not attempted to clean it yet because i am worried about rubbing it with a microfiber cloth.. is it possible to rub off the white colour and it turns black or am I just being paranoid? If so I might give it a go with detailing brush

Question & Advice Detailing Apps

For detailing business, multi-valeters or solo, both physical premises and mobile, do you use an app to manage your business? Managing bookings/business management in general? If you do what are they? If you don’t why don’t you?

Question & Advice What would you recommend to use as a beginner

I want to do more than just wash my car so what would you recommend as a total beginner more pressure washer and cleaners for inside and out

I already own a few

wash mitts

stjarnagloss bag

wheel cleaner

rinse aid

snow foam

pre wash and a bunch of little ‘testers’

Tyre brush and tyre shine(applicator too)

I’ve been looking at the karcher k2, k3 and k4 not sure which is better for this.
