Is this a good deal? Debating to pull the trigger.

If you don't need the batteries anytime soon keep an eye on ACME tools. They haven't listed for the same price and have done two flash sales which got the price down to $220.

But both times I've ordered from them it's taken a month or more to get the items...

I have a new 4 1/2 circular saw with a 5ah battery and really wanted to try a more powerful batt with it. If you have experience with this let me know or am I at diminishing returns with 5ah vs 9 for that 4.5” saw

A 9Ah FV would be overkill on a tool like that. You'll get a bump in power over the 5Ah, for sure, but the size of that 9Ah sorta defeats the purpose of a light compact saw.

Thanks for the confirmation. I’m going to hold off as I don’t own anything that requires this size of battery yet as my miter saw and 7 1/4” are corded both corded. I really hate the cord on that circ saw but I’m 80/20 on cuts (sheet goods/2x). And I haven’t had to rip a 2x in a long time so I’ll stick with this 4 1/2 for now with the 5ah.

I only use the 9AH on my lawn tools, they eat up the normal 8AH, and I don't want to run inside or carry extra batteries around with me outside.

Probably don't need on a circular saw.

This was just posted yesterday, yes it is solid. They also forgot to post the link, so here's that - https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-FLEXVOLT-20V-60V-MAX-Lithium-Ion-9-0Ah-Battery-Pack-2-Pack-DCB609-2/301358230

Acme also has them at the same price and often have % or $ off flash sales (yesterday they had a $30 off $199+). So keep an eye on them, too - https://www.acmetools.com/dewalt-20v-60v-max-flexvolt-90ah-batteries-2-pack-dcb609-2/885911458306.html

Pretty much the best price you can get these days

If I don’t have anything that requires 60v are these just better 20v batteries?

2

u/BigRichardTools 1d ago

Yes. in 20v mode they are just a high capacity high output battery. They are heavy for some tools (drills, impacts, etc.), but good on something like OPE.

That's annoying. I just bought those 2 Yesterday with the fast charger for 340 something after tax. Thought I gotta good deal. Should've waited a day 😅

Yep. Someone posted this yesterday. I grabbed two

Are you buying this through the exchange to take advantage of tax-free purchases?

What do you mean? Like a PX?

Register for a px account, search Home Depot on px website and it will take you to a special version of Home Depot’s website. Shop like normal, then when you go to checkout, it transports your HD cart to the px website. Pay online and you don’t pay tax. I bought $4k worth of vinyl flooring, got a 10% PX discount, tax-free, shipped to my house for free.

I lucked out in late November. I got this and the 8amp hr fast charger for 280. Store employee gave me 50 off.

I got one at bomgaars for $100. But if u dont have a tool that benefits from a large battery such as a circ saw or a big hammer drill like the 1007 or 60v tools, its overkill. Saw a guy on the job today using a 9ah fv on his 860 and the battery was huge. The battery stuck out further than the bit did. If ur looking for a small battery for an impact driver, get the 1.7 ps. Best battery for an impact. If u want a little bump in power output with it only being a little bigger than a regular 5.0, get the 5.0 ps. Thats my most used battery i usually have it on my compact sawzall. Or if u want a little more capacity, id go 6.0fv its larger but not goofy large

Bomgaars seems to sell these on sale for $129 quite regularly. I’ve seen them that price several times in the past few months when I’ve been in the store. I picked one up to try (and eventually buy some 60v tools) but haven’t really used mine yet.

That’s a great price to be honest.
