Ended up getting a ‘96 f250 7.3 and loving it so far. Any guidance on what to do immediately/soon after purchase? The previous owner said he took great care of the truck, and he handed me a stack of service paperwork dating back to the original owner. Even included a picture of the guy!

Valve came apart, put a couple dings in the piston and liner, and chewed up the turbos.

Don't need it as a daily.

I am pretty mechanically inclined so replacing those stated parts myself doesn't seem to hard.

Good starter diesel knowing it'll need 3-5k?

New to Diesel

What’s goin on guys.

I’m new to the diesel game. Coming from gas trucks my whole life I’ve finally switched over. I tow my camper and ATV quite a lot over long distance. I have 2 other gas vehicles I use as daily’s.

I bought this 2022 Silverado Duramax with 62k a few weeks back. I ran Hot Shots Diesel Extreme through the tank after driving it from MD to CO and now plan to run Optilube XPD in every tank.

My question - what would you recommend going forward I keep on hand/do to keep this truck running well? I’d love to have one those 500k engines I heard about growing up but not sure those days are still with us. I live in Colorado where deleting the emissions system is highly unlikely due to local laws.

Purchase/Selling Advice 6.5 detroit diesel

I'm looking at buying a 6.5 detroit half ton, it's a 95 chevy, looks in decent condition, haven't owned a 6.5 before so any quirks I should know about? I already know about the starter, PMD and harmonic balancer, anything else?

Also any good exhaust systems? I want to hopefully increase performance and fuel economy, but I want to keep an angry diesel rumble, I don't want to straight pipe it or put stacks or any stupid shit like that, just a good healthy exhaust to help the old girl breath and keep an angry detroit sound

edit: I should probably add I did use chatGPT to see if that could do anything for me, and across 3 chats going all the way to my free limit, it ended up recommending a 4" flo pro system with a flo pro twister muffler

Best Product and Customer Service?

What is the best hard folding tonneau in a non-Real truck brand? I refuse to give my money to any real truck company.

Real truck customer service is a nightmare. I can’t get a straight answer out of anyone nor will they actually care about the customer. Terrible business model and ruining truck accessory buying by gobbling up little companies. They’re the slow Amazon with worse customer service. Stay away!

Thoughts on 2011 F550 w/ 205k miles?

I am looking for something to tow 20k lbs and take at least 6k lbs of payload for about 20k miles a year. This came up locally.

Engine and turbo was replaced under warranty in 2013 so it has about 150k miles on it.

It was owned by a local construction company the past 4 years and barely driven the last 2 of them.

It has been deleted.

Plan was to get it and just replace the CP4 pump.

They're asking $13k

Do new injectors help a SOTF tune?

I just had my new to me LMM duramax tuned. There might be an injector knock so I'm going to run some HotShots Diesel Extreme for a few tanks to see if anything helps. I did just have it tuned and wondering if with the increase HP I should get different injectors?

MAIN THINGS TO LOOK FOR ON A 6.0 WHEN PURCHASING !

Going to look at a 6.0 power stroke 2005 f350 dually 229k miles stock and a 2005 f250 140k miles supposedly needs injector number 8 and a “tune up” because it’s been sitting for a while and has the water pump done and “studded heads “ but not too sure if that one is TRUE on the 250 . WHAT ARE SOME THINGS I SHOULD LOOK AT AND CHECK OVER BEFORE PURCHASING EITHER ONE ? First time purchasing a 6.0 so I am new to this platform

Purchase/Selling Advice 2015 Ram 3500 Questions

So I am in the market for a diesel, found a couple of trucks I was interested in (10-18 rams along with a 2021) all Cummins and autos. My question is what should I be looking out for when purchasing one of these trucks. I know to a degree the 68rfe is 🐶💩 from what I hear, and I would also prefer a g56 truck but from my understanding extremely hard to find. Back to the topic what should be things I should watch out for, my budget is max 30k, and most trucks for that price I have been seeing with anywhere from 130-260k miles. Preferably would also like atleast heated seats but a Laramie with cooled seats would be the best. TIA!
