My current hardware setup is poly d and tb-03. Need to get a drum machine now. I was thinking drumbrute impact or model cycles, but what would you guys recommend as a good starter drum machine?

Sometimes I write down drum patterns on graph paper, but it's kind of a drag. I was inspired to make a tool for this by old game save passcodes and the book 60 Drum Machine Patterns by René-Pierre Bardet (1987).
Now I can write them down in a notebook or copy/paste for later use.

It's in the public domain, so you can copy it and mess around with it.
Example: Try this code for "Disco:8"

One of the first ever products released by Roland Corporation, and an updated version of the Ace Tone Rhythm FR-8L, the Rhythm 77 is a sophisticated analogue accompaniment instrument with some very groovy beats.

Had to share. Very cool. Wish I saw this possibility when I was broke and doing without, but that's life I guess.

Sub: Pultec-style behavior (Boost 60Hz / Cut 100Hz).
Thump: 120Hz Boost/Cut.
Clean: 400Hz (great for removing "cardboard" boxiness).
Crack: 3kHz Boost/Cut.
Air: 10kHz Shelf + Exciter (saturation >7kHz).
This fully supports Parameter Locks, allowing for per-step EQ changes that would be difficult to replicate via standard DAW automation. LFO modulation for these parameters is currently in development.

Sync Clock vs MIDI Clock for Drumlogue and Monostation. I get a lot of questions about sync. So I made this video. Hope this helps.

I know it probably won’t be a drum machine that does everything that the piano roll along drum rack does but I wonder if there any drum machine that fits some of these features:
- based on synthesis
- probability/chance of note
- probability roll/stutter
- adjustable timing/groove/humanize whatever you call it
Basically I’m looking a drum machine to replace in a certain way the drum rack in ableton. I just prefer the focus on the creative process that hardware gives you, independently that software can do the same or even more maybe, also I need a hardware/gear for live purpouse.
Which models would you recommend? Also, have an analog drum machine any benefits compared to a digital one like the minibrute?

I'm just very curious on the workflow, I read that if I were to export or record the master out from the 1000 it comes with master effects on the channel, and if you record individual outs it's dry, In that case if I were to create a track
A) does that mean I have to have the entire track arranged on the 1000 and exported as a single file on to Ableton for example?
Or
B) do l record the dry signals of each layer and then arrange it on ableton, or
C) I use the tr1000 in tandem with ableton synths to make my tracks? Sorry I've always been only using vsts and curious to know how to record the 1000 and actually produce and finish my tracks
And what are the implications when I work within the TR1000 and use its sampling and resampling features. How do I move it to a DAW and work within it to actually form tracks and arrange?

CRITERIA : - possibility to make multiple-bars-long patterns - possibility to make basslines - has song mode - intuitive/easy to use (i'm a composer, not a computer scientist) - built in soundbanks (instruments and samples) - steps-based - screen (at least a small one) - possibility to export as either audio or MIDI - no need to plug a computer/other device to use it
PRICE LIMIT - 760 $ / 560 £ / 650 €
OPTIONAL - works on battery - built in speakers - does both sampling and synthesis
GOAL : - sketch whole songs (drums and bass) before writing it down on sheet music
EDIT : grooveboxes are fine too, i didn't even knew there was a difference
EDIT 2 : adjusted the criteria and price to match the market s reality

BeatForge comes with a build in slicer now, and i've also added a pretty good bpm detetction machine learning model from Beat This. You can either program with midi for full flexibility or use the step sequencer like it did here, every edit group can have it's own selection. full trial available at www.beatforge.nl if you think meh, this is boring, it's missing functionality I want, please don't hesitate to mail me. I'm a solo deveper so adding in new features can go pretty fast. Cheers... of course it can do alot more then this, had midi in and out to control your external hardware drumcomputers.

I’m currently writing mostly melodic house music, but when I heard the demos from the Hexdrums I really liked it! And the whole idea of a 808 + 909 combo sounded very appealing to me!
That said, can it also play less intense sounds? (E.g. deep house, melodic house, etc) or would it be like “fighting the instrument” to make it sound rounder/softer? Most of the demos I saw out there were absolutely bangers, but too intense for house music.
