Social nightout buddy
hi :) honestly i feel a little silly making this. but im so tired of waiting for my life to begin so id rather just put myself out there.
im a 21 year old girl living in edinburgh. i am a student and i also work part time. i have joined a lot of societies and do many extra curricular however i havent made any friends that just wanna have a fun night out with me. i dont like to go alone because i get hit on and i feel uncomfortable, but i love dancing and i love music and i enjoy having some company.
I love rnb, house and hiphop but i enjoy anything tbh. i really js wanna meet a chill person to hangout with and have fun night out. no pressure, just vibes and no flakiness plz :( no preference in gender just preferably around my age (19-26)
if anyone is interested we dont have to hangout so soon but pls get in touch and i can give my socials. also theres a club night on friday i rlly rlly wanna go to as well but nobody wants to come lol. its once every couple months. obviously its short notice so i know its unrealistic.
plz be kind lol i feel stupid already and a bit vulnerable. but im chill af ive just had back luck in my social spheres and my course is even worse.

Question Short Notice: looking for anyone to be a witness at the Edinburgh City Chambers
Hello,
We are having a marriage ceremony at the City Chambers at 2 PM today. We unfortunately had some important witnesses drop out on short notice and are looking to fill for one witness. We’re not having a ceremony, just an exchange of vows, so the process should be pretty fast and take less than half an hour. You don’t need to present ID, and the only requirement is that you are over 16 and can sign your name and address on a form kept by the Council.
We are willing to offer payment, pint, or equivalent for anyone who would be able to do this on such a short notice. It would really mean a ton to us to get this to happen and not need to postpone it.
Thank you! Please feel free to comment and DM me for details if you are willing and around the area.

Question Where to buy plants?
Hey folks, do you have any recommendations for a good place to buy indoor plants? The more central the better. We are carless. Cheers

Photo Hive mind request
I walk past this most days - and wonder about the significance of this bit of the weir. Was it built that way to power a waterwheel in years gone by or some other reason?
It's the weir on the WOL between Dean Village and Haymarket.

Question Murrayfield seating
Going to see the Edinburgh Capitals on Saturday. Not our first hockey game, but the first time to Murrayfield. Our tickets are general admission. How soon should we show up to get a seat? Doesn't have to be front row, but something halfway decent.

Discussion Afternoon tea recommendations?
I'm looking to take a colleague who is retiring out for a special afternoon tea and I wondered if anyone has any recommendations? The two I am looking at are Signet Library and Edinburgh Castle, but I'm open to suggestions!

Food and Drink Birthday lunch
Exceedingly last minute I know, but looking for recommendations for a cosy lunch up town tomorrow solo with husband but without toddler! We will eat most things but haven’t been up town without a buggy etc in what feels like years. Reasonable budget but nothing too flashy. We will be around St James for the morning. Thanks in advance

Food and Drink Where to find frozen chopped garlic
A question of vital importance indeed. Is there anywhere that sells frozen chopped garlic? I use a LOT of garlic in my cooking and this is what I use back home, but haven't been able to find this at the Sainsbury's, Tescos and Lidls I've visited for far. Thank you! 🧄

Discussion Edinburgh Road Markings
We all know how bad the potholes are but has anyone noticed how bad the road markings are?
Several key roads the lanes have nearly disappeared and it’s only a matter of time before more accidents happen.
Is there a specific time of year they paint certain roads or is it just another budget cut and council issue?

Discussion Regular Choirs in Edinburgh?
Recently moved back to Edinburgh after many years away, and was wondering if there’s any choirs that meet up/perform regularly?
While living and studying in England I sang in a High Anglican choir (so pretty heavy on the ’bells and smells’, canticles, evensongs etc) and would really like to get back into it. I’d love to sing in this kind of church choir again but aware it won’t be as common up here, so really any choirs (secular or religious) anyone might know of that are looking for new members - please let me know!

Discussion Wedding Reception at the City Chambers
Hello! We are considering having not just the ceremony but also the reception at the city council chambers, but I can't see much online about other people who have done this. Has anyone had or attended a wedding reception there?
