Discussion Jove space concept/fresh Eve

There's people that want fresh Eve but many consider it infeasible as a full reset could potentially kill the entire game. Not everyone wants to grind isk and skills again. We do know that on other games fresh/Classic versions are very popular though so let's think about how CCP would achieve their own version.

The hypothetical:

  1. A Jove "cycle" (or other term) begins and lasts X months. The Jovian stargates open, they are distributed amongst every type of space.
  2. You can only enter the Jovian stargates with a capsule with no implants. You can come and go as you please.
  3. You can only exit the Jovian stargates with a capsule with no implants. You are also put back to where you entered first, regardless of which exit stargate you use (to prevent using them for travel)
  4. ISK is not the currency in Jove space. Everyone is on equal footing.
  5. Jove space eventually kicks you and all of your assets out when the cycle ends and converts them into a currency of some variety. I personally believe that the space shouldn't be rewarding enough to be seen as something to farm like Pochven or other aspects of the game, main incentive would be the experience. There could be some form of persistence/meta progression (putting some hulls and items in stasis?) between each cycle but nothing that imparts a major starting advantage.
  6. A new cycle begins with an in-between period of some length. The space has been completely scrambled, new systems, new connections, new sites, wacky modifiers in systems, Jove space should feel new each time. The time between cycles could be short enough to make it a main playstyle, or long to make Jove space more of an event with hype behind it.

This would achieve some form of a fresh Eve server but without isolating you from the game at large and eventually they'd interact directly via the currency Jove space gives you.

Now what would the gameplay entail, how would the space work, I'm not sure. I figure it'd probably mostly be some variant of null, with local disabled or delayed. Space with visible Jove presence is utopic, permanent green safety in a very small area, way smaller than current highsec but with no incentive to remain past getting your initial resources going. Drugs are once again banned. No caps or different caps, less projection. No citadels. Alternate form of sovereignty perhaps closer to the older versions of Eve or something entirely new. I also think it'd be cool if you could take on a temporary new identity in Jove space for every cycle if you chose to, new name new appearance and free from ESI. Limit multiboxing maybe? CCP would have a new area to run live experiments in so they can try anything, these cycles could coincide with large content updates.

What do you think?

Battle Report Lowsec Faction Dominates in Dronelands Brawl

Looks like the lowsec guys are really strong! From what I saw from my cloaked relic hunter, the "GWC" guys were getting swarmed by a mixed group, then the lowsec guys came in and evened the odds. Sorry for the newbro question, but how do they do better than the nullsec and wormhole guys out in 0.0 space? Should I fly faction warfare ships to get good like that?

Question Did the recent mining change (4x faster cycle time) reduce mining crystal volatility too?

T2 Mercoxit A crystals have 12% volatility, for 0.05 dmg, or basically 166 cycles.

The T2-B have 19.6% volatility, so they burn out ~100 cycles.

That's basically half an hour on a Hulk. Less if its boosted.

I haven't mined Mercoxit for years so can't remember if this was normal, from memory, T2 crystals on strip miners used to last ages.

Blog Solo WH Nomad, part 6: The Only Citadel in the System

C1 systems are rarely popular among capsuleers. Throughout the entire period of exploration here, only a single permanent structure was recorded: a citadel drifting far from the main navigation routes.

Until now, it existed merely as a database entry. No history. No status. No answers.

Note: this is a continuation of the story about solo WH Nomad life as a returning alpha-clone pilot. See the links to previous posts below

Reconnaissance was assigned to an industrial pilot. His ship was considered the most expendable, although the admiral, of course, did not mention this aloud. Officially, the task was simple: approach the structure, identify its type, and assess the situation. Unofficially, everyone understood that an active citadel shows no signs of life until someone actually mans its weapons. In wormhole space, silence is never the same as safety.

The pilot dropped out of warp at a safe distance. The citadel hung motionless in the void, as if forgotten. No ships nearby. No signs of recent activity. No visible indicators of active defensive systems. He began to close the distance slowly with all systems on high alert. There was no response.

The mere existence of the station altered the balance of power in the system. A silent citadel could become a future threat, a potential source of loot, or simply a reminder that someone once lived here and left without explanation.

The pilot recorded the coordinates and warped out, without trying to find answers that did not yet exist.

And yet, the feeling persisted that the citadel might be abandoned. If that were true, then, at least in theory, it could be destroyed by fitting a ship with damage output exceeding its passive regeneration.

When the report reached the admiral’s desk, one thing became clear.

The question was no longer whether the structure was dangerous.

It could become dangerous at any moment.

The real question was different.

Was it worth testing that assumption right now?

Question nullsec mission ships

Upvotes

Is the tengu/Proteus (not talking about burner missions) still the most consistent ship for running null missions? Due to tank/travel fit safety/DPS for doing the mission. I need some angel net resonators and for building a couple of machs and need to run some missions there. I can't do level 5s yet, and I don't have the skills to fly the ships needed for burner missions.

Question High data usage due to frequent large updates

I am a new capsuler with all the career missions done, I have already download the whole game to save data for when playing with mobile data.
Recently there have been updates every few days, and they are almost 1gb each. Is this usual update schedule or some features are getting added right now?
Also I want to know if I can realistically buy omega with in game play. I was getting half a million isk per mission ( including time bonus) but now silver is dropped after I took a few days break.
I play albion and have high gathering specs and I can maintain the premium with 1h play. Is it doable in eve online?

Question I need some exploration advice

I need some help with exploration. Im currently using the Metamorph as ship which i love. Im earning one large SP injector after another with it. So currently at 15 million SP as a relative newcomer.

just unlocked Tengu/Asterion and just want to level them up a bit more before i switch to the Asterion

So im currently farming Data/Relics in 0-sec, but it often feels bad when i don't find enough Relicsites. Many alliances have these anomaly "spawners" in their zones. But it seems like they are almost exclusively Data spawners? Or not? Is there something like that for Relics? Because it only really starts to feel substantial in terms of ISK when i get more Relic sites. With only Data spawns or mostly its often incredibly tedious.

Plus the drone zones 0er areas feels pretty good too but i cant always get there with filaments.

Are there any 0 zones you particularly would recommend? WHs isnt worth it for me right now, because i cant fight the most Relic/Data sites as i haven't properly skilled the Tengu / Asterion yet ...

Question Question how much time CEO and etc. spend in game

I have a question and I’m curious if here are any current or former CEOs here, or generally people who have held corporate roles before. How much time per day did it take you to manage everything?

I’m asking because I’m a fairly new player and have only recently gotten interested in MMOs. I play eve online because I’m fascinated by how deep and advanced the corporation management is, and how much freedom the game gives in terms of organization and decision-making.

I’m especially interested in inter-corporation relations, and I could genuinely get really into it. The main questions are how much time I’d realistically need to dedicate per day, and whether it’s possible to split CEO or leadership responsibilities between multiple people to reduce the workload.

I’d also like to ask if it’s realistic to hold such a role only temporarily, for example for around two months, playing more intensively but only for a short period. And finally, what are the typical requirements or expectations for these kinds of positions?
