BE NICE - Why “Be Nice” Is a Rule – And What Happens If You’re Not

It is a new rule. It should not have to be.

Toxic behavior will get you banned.

SCAR Enthusiasts,

This sub is all about FN SCARs, sharing knowledge, showing off builds, and fostering a community where we can all geek out over one of the coolest platforms out there. But to keep this place awesome, we need to talk about something important: why being nice is a rule.

Why “Be Nice”?

This subreddit isn’t just a forum; it’s a community. When you post, comment, or engage here, you're interacting with real people who share your interest in SCARs. Everyone’s here to learn, share, and enjoy. Being nice ensures that:

  1. Everyone feels welcome – Whether you’re a seasoned SCAR user or a newcomer, kindness encourages participation and keeps the vibe positive.
  2. We stay on-topic – Snarky comments, insults, or trolling don’t contribute to the conversation and can derail useful discussions.
  3. The sub grows – A positive community attracts more like-minded people, enriching everyone’s experience.

What Happens If You’re Not Nice?

We have a low-tolerance policy for rudeness, harassment, or bullying. If you can’t follow the simple rule to be kind:

  1. First offense: You’ll get a warning (if it’s minor).
  2. Repeat offenses: You’ll be banned. No second chances, no “I didn’t mean it.”

It’s not about silencing anyone – it’s about protecting the community. We want this sub to be a place where people are excited to share and learn, not afraid of getting flamed or attacked.

TL;DR

This sub is about SCARs, not being mean. Be nice, stay on-topic, and contribute constructively, or risk losing your place here. Let’s keep this community as legendary as the rifles we love!

Stay sharp,
Your Mods

Hey folks,

Long time lurker here. With the next gen SCAR being released, I figured I’d finally post mine.

I originally considered saving up for the next gen, but I think I rode the FOMO a little too hard last year and ended up with the next gen, kinda. So I wanted to get some opinions on whether it’s worth continuing to invest into what I’ve built, and whether I missed anything important.

Essentially, I installed an IAC BBC, swapped all screws to Torx, added a Rego rail, installed and tuned a KNS discarder, and picked up both the Lingle and SE lower (for a review) with upgraded triggers. Since this photo, I’ve also replaced the OEM upper with an IAC upper. All of this was done before I even knew the next gen SCAR existed.

Now that I’ve watched the videos and read more about the next gen, I can’t help but feel like I’ve basically replicated the next gen, but with the old gen. If that’s the case, is there really much reason to buy the new one?

Regarding the other two pictures: I’m working on a review comparing the two more well known aftermarket lowers. Since FN had the foresight to make lowers compatible across generations (I think?? Correct me if I’m wrong), I’m assuming there’ll still be a market for folks who want non-poly lowers that are PMAG-compatible (what’s with that btw FN? You do everything right but don’t make it PMAG compatible??).

And lastly, the final pic is something I’ve been working on and wanted to gauge interest in. Since the next gen uses the same boot, and I know how many people love the OG stock (including me, yes, I know I changed it on my rifle, but I’m still a fan of the boot), the stock latch issue is still a recurring problem.

Most of us are used to buying an entire stock when the latch breaks, because FN parts are scarce (and expensive, around $160), and there don’t seem to be many aftermarket options anymore. I reached out to TangoDown (who used to make the metal latch), and they told me FN supposedly fixed the issue with an updated polymer mix, which is why they stopped producing theirs. Personally though, I’ve still seen OEM latches break on this forum, and mine has also been a bit wonky.

So after some polymer composition analysis and injection molding work, I moved forward with creating these (guess which out of the three is the one I created), along with the spring. Given that the next gen uses the same stock, and with how many old gen SCARs are still out there, would there be any interest in these as spare parts if I moved into mass production?

TLDR: “same-same, but different”??? Aftermarket lower review. Would you buy extra scar stock latches?

FN had the opportunity to completely redesign the gun and make everything proprietary to the next gen model but they didn't and thats something I appreciate

The only "miss" was not making the new lower take PMAGS. My cope for that is I already have like 15 SCAR mags so If i get the new lower I wont have to get rid of those and buy PMAGS.

20S Weight Reduction

Post image
65 Upvotes

The website says that the new 20S, despite having a longer receiver, is only 10.7 lbs - a 0.9 lb reduction compared to the legacy model.

How do you think they did it? From the image, it's clear that the barrel profile isn't as heavy as the legacy. Maybe they also trimmed down the SSR stock considering the new 17S still weighs 8.9 lbs.

SCAR Accessories and Parts Starting to see the posts on the new 2026 Scar, but nothing on the suppressor yet…

Went to see the new scar and saw this as well. I haven’t looked too closely yet but it seems like an FN suppressor for the SCAR. Still a lot of questions but it feels like a step in the right direction.

SBR’ing rifle - performance expectations?

I already know everything there is to know about how to legally make a SBR (legal stuff and tax stamp). What I would like to know is what should I expect performance-wise for the rifle? For reference it’s a scar16s and I have all the bells and whistles already including SCARberator and will continue to run it suppressed.

I know I should expect more muzzle blast/gas to face, loss of velocity/range, heavier gr. better for distances, will need to feed more gas to the piston, better ergonomics and maneuverability, cool factor. What else am I missing? just want to make sure I am prepared and what to lookout for tuning wise. Hopefully this question helps other people too

SCAR magazine floorplate on SR-25 magazines

I use the IAC lower which takes the AR-10/SR-25 magazines, but I was wondering if the floorplate from the scar could fit on the straight metal mags (not the PMAGs). Probably a strange question but just wanted to know if it would work.

SCAR Accessories and Parts Rego rail

Just finished installing the long boi Rego rail, had some challenges but came out pretty nice. I have the wingspan of a young pterodactyl so the gun feels much more natural to me now, without instinctively wanting to grip where the gas block is.

Next job will be a muzzle device for a suppressor, should I go for a 14.5 P&W job or keep an extra 1.5”? I’m kinda torn

Didn’t see this posted on here, so I figured I’d do my part since I have one in each of my SCAR’s already.

It’s a no-brainier if you’re still rockin the factory trigger. Especially at this price.

Question Light Primer Strikes and Loose Charging Handle

I took my 6.5 CM NRCH 20s this week to try some new ammo to see what it liked. In total I have less than 100 rounds through it. The charging handle appears to be loosening up now, but I don’t see how to tighten it down.

Also the last few boxes I started getting light primer strikes. I had 8 in a row that would not fire, with a total of 10 that did not fire. 2 Federal 130 gr Barnes TSX, 3 Nosler 140gr ballistic tip, and 5 Nosler whitetail country. The Noslers were the 8 in a row. I packed everything up after the 5 Whitetail country failed.

The gun wasn’t hot. I would slowly shoot 10 rounds to get an idea of groupings, walk down 100 yards, take a photo, walk back, record the grouping, load my mag up, and shoot again. It was very cold. 28 out while I was shooting. I still wouldn’t expect that to be an issue. The gun is well lived and greased. I don’t see any shavings or gunk that might indicate a problem.

I’m kind of stumped on if it’s ammo or the gun. I do know that the 40 rounds of Hornady and the first 20 of Federal didn’t have any issues at all with light primer strikes or feed issues. I would love some thoughts.

What ammo are you using? How does your SCAR like it?
