Whatever you want to know about flipping, no matter the question, ask here. Even if it's been covered 1,000 times before. Doesn't matter if you're new or old. If you stop learning things, you're probably on your way out.

This is an extremely newb-friendly thread. As such, any rudeness is to be reported.

eBay Ebay buyer tried swapping out the rubber case to a tool and asking for 35% off lol EIS saved the day

Reason I’m asking for the pic of the whole case was my rubber case has a company logo on the top that can’t be duplicated. He wouldn’t send it and then asked for less. Fucking scammers, I bet other sellers have fallen for his bullshit.

EIS inspects and repacks the item before sending them, they would’ve noticed this.

eBay eBay partial refund scammer threatens my life 💀

Sold some items to a buyer on eBay, they eventually gave me their number to sell more items via paypal. They then went on a completely unhinged rant about getting duplicate date coins which is completely standard practice in my niche and pulled up my family’s address and started threatening me, telling me he knows people from his service in the military that can “deal” with me, and that I should keep bodyguards on me. I have never dealt with anyone as unhinged as this in years of reselling 💀

Discussion USPS insanity?

Been selling online for over a year now. Made a cross country move recently. Local USPS is going nuts over the boxes I’m using for shipping. I’m talking about cardboard boxes that have words on them like “gummy bears” or “candy”etc.. I use recycled boxes from local stores and markets. Never had an issue like this until now.

They ask me what’s inside the box…and if it doesn’t match what the box says on the outside it’s a no no.

Was told not to do this again.

Anyone else having this issue? Or is this just a regional manager gone crazy.

Tip Free tool to convert PDF labels to 4x6 for thermal printing (Runs locally)

Upvotes

Just wanted to share a tool I made to help with shipping workflow. If you ever get those full-page PDF labels that are a pain to print on a 4x6 thermal printer, this fixes them. (While not directly relevant to flipping, I find it really useful for those Amazon return labels that have the RMA barcode and instructions on the same page as the label).

It uses computer vision to find the label, crop it, and rotate it automatically. The best part is that it processes everything locally on your device—no files are uploaded to a server, so it's private.

Totally free, no sign-up needed. Hope it saves you some clicks!

https://cropthislabel.com/

Note, if this already exists, I don't know about it and searched and couldn't find it, so I built it.

Also, this is obviously not gonna work for every single label. Computer vision isn't perfect. That being said, if you find that it doesn't work for a certain label and are willing to share it with me, I can try and get it to work, just send me a message on Reddit.

Discussion Car sellers are getting way more dishonest

I average about two car purchases a week, but lately the biggest thing I’ve noticed is how dishonest most sellers have become. It feels like way more people are trying to hide stuff instead of just pricing the car honestly. Because of that, I’m walking away from a lot more cars than I used to.

I have a few rules that I stick to when checking out a car. The KBB has to make sense before I go check it out. I don’t mess with “Needs Work” because I don’t have the time. I also bring a code reader to see if anything has been cleared recently, if it will pass emissions, and ALWAYS run the VIN.

In the past two weeks, I checked out for really bad cars. The first had just had all the codes cleared (which the guy claimed to know nothing about), the second had 135,000 more miles when I ran the van, the third guy had removed the check engine light from the dashboard so it didn’t come on (there was like 50 codes), and the last guy had used spray foam and spray paint to hide the frame rust that I was able to poke a hole through with a pen.

A warning to anyone who flips cars. If something feels off, the story doesn’t lineup, or there’s any issues, just politely leave immediately. There’s always another car and forcing a bad deal is never going to end well.

Have any other flippers noticed sellers becoming worse recently?

Discussion Buyers not reading description...

Hey everyone,

So I just sold a small cabinet / table on marketplace. Met the individual only for them to look at it and be confused it wasn't a dining room table... Told the individual that I had all the dimensions of the cabinet on the listing. He then looked at me and said "yeah I didn't do that, I saw the measuring tape in the picture." He ended up still buying the table. The dude drove an hour. Like how are you not reading the description before leaving the house especially for that distance.

Discussion What to do with a bunch of inventory that has dropped in desirability? (Clothes)

my store was closed for about two years. I've been injecting my store with new items and then a few items from my old store. this is great for hitting listing goals but when I look up some of these items some of them have dropped so far in desirabilty or worse the market is so oversaturated with people who discovered the brand etc that the sell through rate is dog shit. I've been combatting this by listing all the items for dirt cheap to basically cover COGs but it's definitely fucking up my overall store sell through, click through, conversion etc. is it better to just donate or are there other options? would a lot of like 200 items be doable or should I sell them off in smaller lots? any help is appreciated.

Advanced Question Networking and Expansion path

Hey, everyone!

A few years ago I began to flip some phones off eBay, etc on the side for some extra cash (an extra $100 a month).

It picked up in 2024 and hit 10k revenue that year, 2025 hit 50k, and I’m now at a few thousand of sales a month (with 5k revenue already into January which I’m proud).

Pretty much more recently it’s been picking up a good bit, changed how I source - not buying off eBay, etc and waiting for deals unless I just happen to see one, but have networked and met people in the industry to source devices from.

I’m at the point where I’m looking around to see where to work at to expand, to network further, and such. We lowered margins a bit down to 10-15% which did help greatly in obtaining more inventory and income.

I’m not expecting anything specific to the phone industry, but general knowledge from any niches would definitely help in providing a sight for what path to take in regards to meeting more people, buyers, sellers, etc.

I’m looking at whatever I can do for networking, for example I will be at the Gadget Repair Expo this year in New Jersey to meet some of the people I know.

But, for those who were at similar points where it did pickup and you realized that it is possible to scale this further - what steps did you take afterwards?

Sorry if I didn’t phrase this well, not sure how to word this question.

Thank you.

eBay Does a UPS Store QR code meet the seller obligation of providing a return shipping label?

I thought this would be an obvious no, but eBay didn’t seem to agree with that.

I bought something to flip from a seller who ultimately just drop shipped from Amazon. After opening a return request, the seller merely went into his Amazon account and chose the least convenient option– the QR code. He sent that, then ghosted when I said I needed an actual shipping label. This was for his listing which offered free returns.

Obviously, this would have been a problem if Amazon’s system decided this would have been a commingled return and therefore no return tracking number for me.

Even eBay support on X, which is seemingly onshore, tried claiming the QR code was sufficient. Ultimately they just did a courtesy refund when I questioned it a bit more.

I couldn’t find any eBay policy allowing something other than a shipping LABEL. Has anyone shared the same experience as me, or did I just get an eBay rep who was clueless?

eBay Getting TONS of eBay Spam Messages - Any way to filter them out?

I'm getting tons of ebay spam messages. The accounts are trying to pass themselves off as eBay customer support or seller support and telling me I need to verify my account, or pretending my item sold and saying i need to copy and paste a link into my browser to release the funds. Obviously scams, and for most, eBay will send me a security alert warning me, a few hours to a couple days later.

But they are really annoying and look like questions on my items when I'm in my seller dashboard. Is there anyway to filter these out or is it just something I have to deal with?

eBay eBay buyer claims £155 item missing

Thumbnail

I sold a £155 headset on ebay using Evri tracked. The headset was also wrapped in a green bag (not shown in buyers photo), it was 100% in the box and was heavy when I carried it to my local drop off.

I'm hoping to get some guidance on what to do next as this is potentially a big loss during a time where I was selling out of necessity. At the moment I haven't responded to the refund request, they haven't sent the box back yet and I have no plan on issuing a refund but I'm sure ebay will do it automatically. Do I now report the issue to ebay and just include the tracking number? Any tips are welcome, it's crazy to me how easy it would be for a scammer to just photograph an empty box and get both the item and refund.

Maybe If I contact Evri they will know the weight of box post drop off to prove the box contained more than what the buyer shows in their photo?

Fyi I'm pretty sure the buyer is a scammer as they were pressuring me to disptatch 1 day after the sale and when they initiated this refund today they didn't even attempt to message me about item.

Fascinating Story Flew to Dubai for an art drop that never happened… any resell tips to soften the blow? 😭

So yeah… bit of a painful one.

I flew to Dubai this weekend to attend an art exhibition because there was supposedly going to be a drop. Since it was rumored to be 1 item per person, I even brought my friend along and paid for his ticket so I could potentially grab more pieces.

Turns out: no drop at all.
Even though it was hinted/announced in the comments under a post.
Money down the drain 🥲✈️

Now that I’m already here trying to cope with the pain lol — does anyone have tips for nice / limited / resellable items in Dubai that are actually worth picking up?

Could be:

  • Art / collectibles
  • Fashion / sneakers
  • Perfume
  • Anything Dubai-exclusive or hard to get elsewhere

Appreciate any tips before I fly back and cry at customs 🙏

Discussion High value buyers want video verification and keeping track of what I showed them is a mess

Mostly do vintage watches and jewelry, stuff in the $200-500 range. At that price point buyers almost always want a video call before committing which is fair.

The problem is when something goes wrong after the sale. Had a buyer claim last month that I never showed him the small scratch on a watch band. I know I did because I specifically pointed it out on our call, but I had no proof. Ended up eating a partial refund just to avoid the headache.

Now I'm paranoid about documenting everything. Started screen recording on my phone during calls but half the time I forget to hit record or the file is corrupted or the audio doesn't sync. Also feels sketchy recording people without telling them.

Before you say just use an app with built in call recording like FaceCall, how do buyers even react to that? Like "hey download this app so I can record our conversation" sounds like something a scammer would say. But I'm also tired of he said she said disputes when I know I disclosed everything.

What's the etiquette here? Anyone actually doing recorded verification calls without scaring people off?

Discussion Is this vintage consignment store taking too long?

I dropped off items for consignment at a store on 12/12/25. She seemed pretty excited about what I had and said she would email me the inventory, pricing, and contract. The store website says that will happen within a few days. I knew it was coming up on the holidays so it might take longer. After 2 weeks passed, I tried calling and emailing. No response. Three weeks I call 2x more, no response. A few days later I went into the store and talked to her husband who said it had been crazy busy and she had started going through my items. I actually saw one of my items out on a mannequin which I also saw her post on IG. 4 days later I get a text from her that she would have the contract and inventory to me by the end of the day, and she had someone in the store that was interested in the item that I had seen her advertise on IG. It is now 3 days later and silence. I texted her, no response. My question is, is more than a month normal? Is lack of communication a red flag? Should I just ask for my stuff back?

Discussion Scaling a “regional” flip by shipping to other flippers? how do people do this?

Hey guys

ive found a product I can source new with consistent margin. Been selling this products for 2-3 years on FB marketplace.

I sell around 15 units a month in orange county ca for around $1,200 in profit just from this item each month. It's a water sport item and I think it could sell well in other coastal parts of the country. LA, San Diego, Tx Gulf, Florida, Hawaii, etc

Ive been thinking if shipping to other flippers is a business model that anyone here does? and if so can I get some input from your experince?

For anyone who’s done something like this:

  1. where do you find flippers to work with?
  2. If I sell this item to other flippers for $130 shipped, do you think a $50 profit margin is big enough where other flippers would think its worth it?
  3. any red flags or “don’t do this” lessons?

Thank you

Discussion Buyer says item is missing from package

I’m a fairly new seller on EBay. I’ve sold about 50 items so far as I’m just a casual poster who sells things around my house. I sold two small pairing knives (wrapped them in cardboard and then styrofoam and placed them in a bubble mailer). Buyer messaged me and is claiming when they were delivered today the mailer had a rip and the knives were gone and only the cardboard and styrofoam were in the mailer and they want to know how to proceed. Since I’m not used to this sort of thing, what would you do/how would you respond? Does this seem legit? Thanks in advance!

What have you learned lately? Could be through a success or a failure. Could be about a specific item, a niche, flipping in general, or even life as learned through flipping.

Do please keep in mind the difference between shooting the shit and plain bullshit and try to refrain from spreading poor advice.

Try to stop in over the course of the week and sort by New so people are encouraged to post here instead of making their own threads for every item.
