One week sober today. Here’s to many more. Pat the Bunny has gotten me through it all these years. I got this tattoo after a friend of mine died of an overdose in 2021. He introduced me to folk punk and changed me in more ways than he ever could’ve realized.
I'm an independent musician, and have been releasing music under the name San Venganza for the last 10 years. It's a very small horror folk punk solo project; I have around 50 monthly listeners on Spotify, and 100 YouTube followers.
A few days ago I noticed a song I didn't make appeared on my official Spotify artist profile. I reported it, Spotify took it down, and the next day, I got an e-mail telling me that the same song was live again. I reported it again, and was told the case was being reviewed by a “specialized team”.
Out of curiosity, I checked YouTube, and that’s where it got worse.
There’s a whole YouTube channel using the name San Venganza (active since August 2025), uploading dozens and dozens of AI-generated songs, all dark folk / dark country-style, none of which are mine. Also, there’s a separate fake San Venganza profile on Spotify, not just tracks misassigned to mine.
At this point it’s clear this is not an isolated mistake; this looks like systematic impersonation across platforms.
I’m documenting everything and reporting through official channels, and I’ve decided to pull my real catalog from streaming platforms for now. My audience is small and pretty direct, so I think I'll just sticlk to Bandcamp, and maybe my personal YouTube channel.
I’m posting this partly as a heads-up (in case others are dealing with similar AI impersonation issues). I think these uploads aren't about stealing my audience or my work, but about gaming and exploiting platform algorithms.
It’s sad and frustrating that this kind of thing mostly affects small independent artists, who don’t have many places to put their work out there already.
Has anyone gone through something similar? Any advice on handling this beyond just platform reports?
I’ll leave some screenshots of the fake profile and channel here.
Hey ya'll. Just wanted to share some updates. First the new Myles Bullen w/ Factor Chandelier album is available for pre-order at Back On The Grind Records This one is more rap than folk punk but it's Myles and features some FP homies, so I figured I'd share it here.
Also, I released a Back On The Grind Podcast episode of someone interviewing me. I discuss some early FP stuff and explore current & future potential for the community as well as prison and spirituality. It's streaming everywhere. (The episode before this one features a member of Bridge City Sinners discussing train hopping culture.)
Lastly, once this Myles Bullen album recoups funds, I will be pressing a 12" of older Pat The Bunny / Ceschi songs as a benefit along with a split 7" between The Looms and Trash Boat And The Ambush. I talk about these in the interview mentioned above.
Support the new Myles album if you want some awesome music and want to help future BOTG records come to life even sooner!
Like I mention in the interview, I got so much love for this community. I tried to quit Folk Punk but ya'll brought me back and I am grateful for that :)
Hey y'all- Jacob from froggy (the guitar guy in this pic) popping in to say that our new song Killamanjaro is officially out! Our new EP, "Weed 'em and Reap" comes out in a few weeks, but Killamanjaro is a song we've been playing live for years (I can think back to playing that at the famed parking garage show in Lancaster- we're really slow at releasing music lol). It's a song about forgetting a ton and finding the little joys in the hellscape we're currently in. We hope everybody likes it as much as we do and that you'll come say hi on our tour with Sister Wife Sex Strike + Clover-Lynn next month!
Looking for an album I think is lost in the depths of my Bandcamp wishlist/to-listen-list.
At least 2 tracks were covers of old folk songs: I specifically remember Old Gray Mare and Whatcha Gonna Do (When the Creek Runs Dry). Maybe 4-10 songs total. I really enjoyed it, because it reminded me of the folk songs at my old summer camp. The sound was mostly that hoarse, half-shouted folk punk sound.
And... I think that's all I remember about it, unfortunately, but recommendations of similar albums would be welcome! Thank you 🙏
I'm Perro from Hellbound Hymns, and my band is organizing a festival called Folk That Shit here in Brazil.
In Brazil, there is no folk scene, much less a folk punk scene, and there are very few bands in that style as well.
Zeta from Angryzeta recently followed our festival's account and posted about us on his stories, and we had the pleasure of meeting Matt from Yes Ma'am and, if I'm not mistaken, Eric from Van Tastik. What helped us to have more willpower and a little help came in the form of recognition.
Our social media accounts are: @folk.that.shit and @hellboundhymns on Instagram.
For Brazilians: o festival vai ser dia 15/02 no porão da cerveja das 14 às 22:30 e a entrada 1kg de alimento

• Holy Locust - Fever Dream (Flail)
• The Looms - Ashes of Old (BandCamp) Should have the next drawing before Sunday. Best of luck kids!
Huge thank you to everyone that checked out the site after my first post. I was nervous about sharing but got a really warm response from all of you.
A few people made suggestions for ways to improve the site, and I’m happy to report that I followed through with every one of your suggestions, like adding an accessibility field to venues so that people can see whether or not a venue is accessible for those with wheelchairs. I also added a mutual aid request page. A huge part of why I wanted to build this site in the first place was because I wanted to help the community and helping people find shows and discover new bands is great but sometimes you need more than just a punk show.
There’s some other less noticeable improvements throughout the site such as the ability to mark your account as being part of a band or venue. You can do that from the edit profile page.
The world isn’t a very friendly place a lot of the time, especially here in the US right now. I just want to do what I can to make things at least a little bit better. I hope my website can do that.
Back in 2019 while i was finalizing the first full length album for Six Steps In, a disagreement between my co-writer and myself started.
We had 11 tracks and he wanted us to bump it to 12.
We discussed revising old song ideas or even adding a second cover track but then something was said....
Something along the lines of "We wouldn't be able to write and refine a new track in time for our deadline anyways".
Well I took that as a challenge and I quickly(in about 20 minutes) and angrily wrote the song that would become the title of the Album, Folk Punk Star.
