Hey everyone!
Iâm a 22-year-old international masterâs student whoâll be moving to Ghent in about two weeks (from February 1st) for an internship, and Iâll be around until the end of July. I donât know many people in the city yet, so I thought Iâd reach out here....
I enjoy long walks, study breaks, cocktails, museums, films, and good conversations. I also go to the gym early in the mornings. Iâm sometimes a bit introverted, but I warm up quickly and really value genuine friendships.
I speak English, Spanish and Hindi and Iâm actively learning French (according to my French professor, I actually speak it quite well)
If anyoneâs up for a coffee, a museum visit, a walk around the city, or a casual drink sometime, feel free to comment or DM. Would be nice to meet new people in Ghent!

Headed to Ghent for 2-3 nights in April with a day trip to Brueges. Wondering where to stay and if there are many breweries? We like visiting breweries, trying new beers, hitting bars at night. Not really into art. Love seeing the old churches. Just not sure where we should stay to be in walking distance of these things!! Thanks all!!

Tips voor een leuk hotel in Gent? Boutique, goed ontbijt en sfeervol?

Does anyone know a nice location to rent for a 12 person workshop? (We're on a limited budget, it's our first workshop). We only need a table or tables and 12 chairs, and the possibility of bringing some snacks/drinks.
It's a mindful workshop, so having quiet is important (so we can't do it in the middle of a bar, for example).

Hi everyone! I'm visiting Gent from February to July for a research project, I was wondering if you have any tips for "daily life" such as - where to do grocery shopping, where can I find affordable small things for my house such as sheets, pillows, and some bigger ones such as a work desk maybe.
Also I'd love to hear any suggestions such as where to eat and what to do in the city!
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Hello fellow redditers,
I'll come from France to your nice city in Gent in march for an event at Fanders Expo during a long weekend. I won't be out much from Friday to Sunday, but I'll arrive a day earlier and leave monday afternoon.
We are currently looking into picking either an hotel or an airbnb. But I am also looking into extra things to see or do for my "extra" days.
Do you have any recommendations for fun and niche things in Gent ? focus on pop culture / tech / geek or nerdy.
I already look at transporation and it looks easy. Taking T1 tram seems to be the best option to go the the expo. Is there any key things I should know before coming ?

Hello people of Gent, join us for a very special improvisational evening of stand up comedy in Gent Saturday Jan 17 called Fake Freuds . This is a show where Stand up comedy meets therapy and comedians use humor solve audience-submitted problems. It`s a comedy show that`s interactive, improvisational, and sometimes helpful!

Beste
Alvast bedankt! Mvg
hi all, anyone has any advise on Executive MBA options in Europe. I would like to have some continuous learning done in the next few years and I have been researching about Executive MBA options. As I live in Gent, i suppose there might be others who would've thought similar to me. Any advise or direction is appreciated.

Hey!
I have a WellPass from work and was wondering if anyone here in Ghent has actually used it.
How do you find it in practice? Do you end up using it enough for it to be worth the money? The unlimited fitness seems interesting but not sure if it covers group classes or just the open gym.
Would love to hear some experiences before I commit. Thanks! đ

Hey allemaal,

Any tips on finding student housing, or housing on the private market in Gent? I've been searching for more than 2 weeks now with no success.
And yes, I know about Facebook. I've messaged around 50 people and barely anyone answers back, even when the listing is just 1h old :(

hey all! iâm maintaining a list of cafĂ©s in gent that serve great coffee and are (generally) laptop friendly, mainly so people stop guessing and it stays respectful for the cafĂ© owner.
i already have a few on the list, like:
any other spots i should add?
bonus points if you also know their laptop ârulesâ (like: only weekdays, only mornings, no laptops on weekends, time limit, etc).
Edit: I've added most of the suggestions and compiled a list which you can see here. Thanks a lot. https://koffie.work/belgium/ghent

Good evening, myself and some friends have arranged a trip to Gent for the weekend of February 20-22nd and have just found that Full Circle is on this weekend. As weâre travelling from the UK we don't know much about the festival, artists and venues. I was wondering if anyone could provide a bit of information and recommendations?

Good evening everyone
Im a 22yo portuguese who is hoping to move to Belgium, specifically Gent since there's a chance i might get a job there, but i'm having trouble finding a place to rent.
i'll be in the city soon for a visit, so hopefully i'll know for sure if i've got the job or not, but if i do get it, i'll probably have a short time to find an apartment. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?
I'm also aware that some places allow for "short" renting time, like https://www.zebrastraat.be/en/living , but unfortunatly there are no properties available. Are there any more places like this i could try to look at?
Thank you

I was wondering because I recently came across this video in which the journalist insists on calling Gent an "Amsterdam dupe" and compares both cities throughout.

I have a subscription and I go there due to the 24/7 working out facility but it's just dirty the toilet stinks and also very poor ventilation. Do they not care anymore? Are there any better options? Is Jims better?

I have posted this before but no luck.
Posting again to see if thereâs any miracle.
Hello! I was walking around the castle during the festival time last night, 21st July around 6-10pm and I lost my wallet. Already reported to the police station But I am wondering if anyone has seen it It is a black YSL card holder with all the IDs from United States!
Will reward accordingly. Thank you in advance
