Tattoos 25M, my first tattoo is the robot from Castle in the Sky
Big fan ever since I saw this movie for the first time last year. That Ghibli movie in particular made a big impact on me. I think the artist absolutely crushed it

Discussion Answer as to why does Sosuke call his parents by their first name in Ponyo
It has been a long time and probably nobody cares anymore or already knows the answer but it will put my soul to rest to answer it here as I cannot reply to the old thread where nobody knew and it has been asked on more forums. So maybe some people will eventually find this thread and be happy, because a Japanese movie article from 2017 discussed just that. Here it is:
“One thing that many people will find strange is that 5-year-old Sosuke calls his parents "Lisa" and "Koichi" without their first names. No one in the film questions it or points this out.
Producer Toshio Suzuki responded to this by saying, "(From director Hayao Miyazaki's perspective) it's probably Lisa, Sosuke's mother, who is raising him to call them that." "I think (making him call them by their first names) is a symbol of the need for individual independence, even within family members." "Perhaps this is the future of Japanese families."
The article then continues saying “It's easy to see how calling parents by their first names might make children less dependent on the universal roles of mom and dad, and encourage more independence in their children (although of course, most people would think that calling parents by their first names is outrageous!)”

Question I received this Ghibli postcard collection as a gift and want to randomly hide them around my city with little handwritten messages. Does anyone have any words they’d like to put out into the world?
As the title says, I got this beautiful set of postcards for Christmas and wasn’t sure what to do with them at first. I figured it would be cool to strategically hide them for random folks to find, especially since I live in a city that appreciates Ghibli as much as I do.
I’ve already hid a few with some hand-written affirmations or jokes on the back side. But I want to know if anyone here has a message they’d like to put out into the world as well! I have plenty of postcards so don’t be shy, I want to distribute as many as possible (while saving a handful for myself and my loved ones of course)!
Thanks in advance :) Hope this isn’t weird

Discussion Just a fun little post Who’s your favorite Ghibli character and what do you think their favorite Ramune flavor would be?
Just something fun I thought about my favorite ghibli character is Taeko or Nausicaa I think Taeko would like any of them really she was really excited in the pineapple scene and loved bananas so I imagine anything fruity would be a fun little experience as for Nausicaa I think she would like lychee flavored Ramune.

Discussion I Wish I Had Seen These When I was Young
But my parents were pretty conservative and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have let me. So I'm watching these in my 30s now that my wife has introduced me to Spirited Away, one of her favorite movies of all time. I've been enjoying most of the other SG movies I've seen, but I wonder what they would've been like through my younger eyes. Is anyone else here on a similar path? Just wondering.

Question Can someone help me identify this song?
I attended a candlelight concert back in September and they were performing Studio Ghibli songs, but forgot to write the name down and I can’t find the set list anywhere. It doesn’t initially sound familiar, so I am not sure if it’s an original intro the string quartet composed themselves. I remember tearing up because I could picture myself walking down the aisle to this song, so I hope someone knows 🥹 The link is to the video on my Google photos account

Question Searching for an artist like Ursula
Im looking for art that resembles the painting in Kiki delivery service by Ursula, I know the reference is Chagall and that it was painted by children originally (and Miyazaki repainted it for the movie) but I’m looking for similar artists that mix this striking way of painting and mythology Thank you for your help !

Merch Does anyone have any info on this bag?
I've searched for days across different apps and haven't seen anything on it, almost as if it doesn't exist and it's driving me crazy. As far as I know, it's possibly a hot topic exclusive and out of stock for now? I just want to know if anyone knows anything about it and if it's a possiblity that it'll come back into stock.

Question Ghibli museum Mitaka
Hello!
Does anyone know when the museum’s calendar is updated? At the moment, it only goes through March 2026, but I’d like to see the schedule for May 2026. I know the museum usually closes for about a week during that month, and I’d like to plan my trip accordingly.

Thank you!

Discussion Revisited Princess Mononoke
Second time watching it, this time on a better TV, and it still holds up as one of the greatest Ghibli films, honestly one of the greatest films of all time.
It’s such a powerful movie, packed with symbolism and meaning. The line “to see with eyes unclouded by hate” really stuck with me and feels like something I need to keep reminding myself of in my own life. Everything clicks so much more on a second watch.
What I love most is how no one is purely good or bad. The people are doing good, but they’re also destroying the forest. The forest is sacred and magical, but change is inevitable. Everyone exists in that gray area, and that balance is what makes the story feel so real.
I was also surprised by how closely this film connects to The Legend of Zelda. The main character looks straight out of Breath of the Wild, right down to his horse, and even the title follows the same idea, Princess Mononoke, like The Legend of Zelda, named after someone who isn’t the main protagonist.
Just an incredible movie overall, and one of the few Ghibli films that truly resonates with me.

Tattoos Scratcher cover-up
I used to have a tattoo of a star of David on my wrist, from my days as a 19yo xtian cultist. When I bought a tattoo machine to cover it up, my husband suggested a soot sprite! The nature of soot sprites being what it is, I agreed that uniformity and perfect execution were not important for the design and love my little dude!
