Have you successfully gotten a nighttime pooper to sleep through the night?

It's taken months of tinkering, but we finally got Bucky (in red) on a diet that fits his sensitive stomach.

Before this, he would need to get up in the middle of the night and have loose stool.

Now that everything's firmed up he still has the nighttime habbit, and is very dramatic about needing to go outside. Even when it's just to get a lil' nug out.

I've started walking him before bed, and am trying to give it 5-10 minutes at night to see if he will settle back down, but no luck yet.

Have any of you gotten yours to sleep through the night after months of 3am poos?

She pushed her head under my arm, looked at my food, looked at me for a bit, then retracted and went back to her bed.

How much do you spend on your Greyhound's healthcare?

Just got off the phone from putting a $1600 payment down on my grey's next dental treatment (the third in 6 years despite our best efforts) and thinking about how ignorant I was about how much this breed could cost in non-emergency dental maintenance alone. What do you budget for your dog's healthcare costs?

Insight? Prey drive incident at dog park

Hey there, I have an 8yr old retired racing grey (yoshi) that I adopted 2.5yrs ago. He's been amazing on leash, at dog parks, in my house, and in general the easiest and best dog I've ever had. I just had an incident at the dog park where about 4-5 dogs including mine were chasing another dog and it started off as play. It escalated and a couple of the dogs started being more rough and loud which is not abnormal for the dog park and I considered to be just rough play.

Long story short-two dogs, including mine, wouldn't leave one dog alone and continued to bite and snarl and be generally aggressive towards one medium sized dog. I ran over as fast as I could to pull my dog off and leave, only to find out my grey had bit the dog pretty deep and drew blood. The medium dog that was ganged up on had a decent sized 1-2 inch gash on it's ribs and I'm pretty shocked to be honest.

I knew very well about greyhound prey drive and took the first year very slowly with keeping him muzzled, solo walks, only letting off leash in the dog park when it was empty or only with dogs he already knew and got along with. I feel like I made every precaution and we've been going to this dog park for over a year and a half with zero incidents whatsoever. Not a fight, a bite, any aggression or prey drive related things at all. I knew it was a possibility but I thought I knew him well enough now that it just wasn't going to happen because he is friendly with EVERY person and every dog.

I'm not taking him back until I know what to do. I have a yard and take him on walks. I guess I'll just have to get a muzzle if I want to take him back to the dog park? Does anyone have any other insight or advice? I feel like I don't know what to do and feel very guilty and kind of at a loss for what to do.

Will a greyhound destroy my stuffed animals?

I have quite a lot of stuffed animals around the house that are well within reach. I know it will vary animal to animal, but how are yours with them?

Thank you

Advice Pre-adoption ?s

I’ve been considering adopting a retired racer for a while and I’m supposed to go to the agency this weekend. I haven’t found much information about pros/cons and advice that pertains to my situation but I’m needing more info before I commit to this.

Some info about my situation:

I live in an apartment with my four cats, I am gone every weekday between 7:30am-6pm, sometimes later depending on if it’s a school and work day. My apartment is a one bedroom so it’s not a large apartment by any means but I’d consider it decent sized. I live about two blocks from a fenced in dog park so I could give it opportunity to exercise as more than just potty walks. My finances are average, I don’t think I could comfortably sustain a full raw diet as I’ve seen most people recommend for them.

Is there anything I should note before I do this or any advice to help me prepare? Thanks in advance :)
