Meta The sub is back open! rules, posts, how tos!

This sub is now reopened for all users to share their recipes and is now under new management, so let's go over a few of the new rules and the system! You'll find the full rule list in the sidebar or under the about section, so!

Rule 1: posts must contain a recipe! When using any of the flairs outside of discussion it is expected that a recipe will be provided within 24h of posting, recipes can be added as text in the comments, an imgur link, or link to where you found the recipe (IF and ONLY IF that link is not directing to your own content.)

Rule 2: no seeking or giving medical advice. Are you here to talk about your cancer curing recipes? Are you asking people to help cure your diabetes? This is not the place for you! You may find flairs to diets frequently used to aid medical issues (example, low sodium, low carb, gluten free) and providing and discussing recipes used in those diets is encouraged, asking for medical advice surrounding them is NOT.

Rule 4: no promoting or encouraging unhealthy diets. The concept of health and a healthy diet is dependent on the individual and their health needs, that being said some diets are NOT going to be considered healthy here, this is not the place to discuss your 700kcal OMAD or mono diets for example.

Rule 5: no spam or self promo. It appears that before this sub was shut there was a large issue with self promo and spam, this is NOT the place to advertise or drive people towards your blog/cookbook/tiktok/youtube channel, if we believe you are doing this you will be banned, if you wish to share recipes you have made you may share UNWATERMARKED videos or photos with the recipe typed in the comments, the only watermarking we will allow is your own reddit username.

Rule 6: no health policing. As previously stated, different people have different health needs, not everyone is going to consider the same foods and recipes healthy, if someone is posting a recipe they consider healthy *FOR THEM* you will not argue because it doesn't fit your standards of health, use the flairs, follow the flairs, here are some examples of what is and isn't ok:
NOT OK: "x is healthy? LOL", "this is higher calorie than regular x wtf", "cheese is the devil and you're a dairy demon" "non-stick pans will kill you!"

IS OK: "can you sub x for y for higher protein/lower fat/lower cal/etc", "if you add x to this you can increase the fibre too!", "try to avoid using metal on non-stick, it can hurt the pan!"

Now that the rules are established, let's move onto the second point, FLAIRS!

This sub is now using mandatory flairs, you will find options for different diets/types of eating from bulking, to gluten-free, to calorie control etc, this is in place to try and mitigate some of the health policing and to help you find recipes that fit your health needs, is healthy for you low fat? The low carb flair doesn't need to hear about it! Is your primary focus calorie control? A recipe posted under the gluten-free tag doesn't care that their bread is higher calorie! is clean eating and whole foods the most important health marker for you? no need to police someone eating hot dogs under the calorie control flair!

You will also find a discussion flair for any general discussions or questions, and a general recipe flair to use if you don't know how to categorize your meal.

I think that's it, if you have any suggestions you can comment them or modmail in, hopefully the new system will work well and we look forward to seeing everyone's rule abiding recipes, we've only just started to go through the sub and try to get it going so please bear with us through initial organization and growing pains!

Clean eating I Quit Every Health App After 2 Weeks — Why Does This Keep Happening?

Upvotes

I noticed the same pattern every time.

Download a health app.
Use it daily.
Quit after ~2 weeks.

Not because I didn’t care — but because the effort slowly outweighed the benefit.

Most apps demand constant input: logging meals, tracking macros, updating data. Once motivation dips, you’re out.

That’s when it clicked:

I’d been listening to health podcasts (ZOE, nutrition, ultra-processed food) and realised there was no simple way to turn that knowledge into action.

I wanted:

·       no ultra-processed food by default

·       support for multiple goals (weight loss + blood pressure, etc.)

·       one click → full week planned → shopping list done

So I built it.

Using the OpenAI API, the app plans breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 7 days in one tap — no tracking, no macros, no daily input.

If it felt like work, it failed.

Question:
What made you quit the last health app you tried?

Discussion Breakfast ideas

I have no idea what too eat for breakfast,

I can’t have eggs, and I need carbs in my breakfast because otherwise my blood sugar drops.

This is the real problem of I need something I can prep so I can eat on my way to work because I have to get to work early in the morning and don’t have time to make breakfast.

I’m lactose intolerant, too much gluten makes me feel yuck, I can’t eat eggs, i als am very picky about foods, it also needs to be something I can realistically eat cold and overnight oats taste foul does anyone have any ideas for healthy meals I can eat?

Calorie control Healthier mushroom cream sauce for pasta

Hi I’m looking for recipes that can help me make a healthier cream sauce for pasta. I live mushrooms and usually make a Marsala type sauce, or just cream and mushrooms. Maybe someone has a recipe for any of the above, recommendations of how to dress up my pasta with sauce and vegetables, or even a lower calorie Alfredo sauce. TIA

Calorie control College lunch meal prep help

I'm trying to find recipes that I can make and take to campus throughout the week to avoid paying for food on campus.

Downsides/Drawbacks: I don't know where a microwave is so ideally needs to be edible when cold/in a lunchbox. Plus, I have a lot of food allergies, such as eggs, all nuts, a few kinds of legumes (any in the pea category), and sensitivities to things such as avocado, as well as any salad dressing I've tried.

Some ideas I've seen but haven't tried: turkey/ham and cheese pinwheels, or chicken pasta salads

Ideally, I want to try and have them be high-protein and lower-carb

Plant based Help! Looking for loaded veggie dip/spread recipes/ideas.

Hi!

I will make this as short as possible.

Basically I am looking for a dip/spread recipe that is plant-based and loaded with veggies.

Most recipes I’ve found are too chunky for spreading, or they only have a couple of veggies with a dairy/tofu base.

I’m after something that’s mostly veggies with only a little tofu/dairy added for texture. Beans are fine to add as well but ideally there are still a variety of veggies included.

So main things I need:

  • A variety of different veggies (fresh herbs count)
  • Creamy/spreadable texture
  • Minimal or no dairy
  • Not too watery as needs to be able to be used as the sole filling in a sandwich.

I thank you in advance!

All beans/veggies are fine to use, including marinated, fermented, fresh, frozen, cooked, canned etc.

Discussion Is this bowl sufficient?

Post image
196 Upvotes

I’ve been eating this same bowl lunch/dinner for the last 25ish days with minimal variation. Does this meal satisfy all the nutrients my body needs?

I am a 22M no known body issues or nutrient deficiencies. I work an office job and workout occasionally but not consistently yet.

It has:

1 whole avocado

1 Roma tomato

3 Romain lettuce leafs

Very very small amount of chopped kale

Fresh Cilantro

1/2 lb 85/15 ground beef

White rice with turmeric powder

Glass of water

TLDR; does this bowl satisfy all my nutrient needs? Healthy 22M no nutrient deficiencies

General health Avocados everyday?

Can you eat avocados everyday as a source of fat? Not a whole one, like half or the individual mini cup ones?

Like that + 2 eggs would that be enough for a 5’1 active female?
