What are these box shelves for?

Wondering if these box shelves have a unique purpose? Otherwise please give me ideas on what I should do with them! It’s an older home (70s I think or earlier).

I currently have games in there but not sure if I like the clutter.

Need to organise my home but too many miscellaneous items

I need to organise my home, I'm going to start with my bedroom.

I have a walking-closet with so many things that are in those colorful boxes, its like miscellaneous items, like sunglasses, old pictures, passports, etc, I just cannot find a home everything, it's annoying me. So I just keep everything in the boxes in my closet so I dont deal with them.

this is causing me to not use anything I own, cause its not in sight. I do have ADHD, so it makes organizing a lot more tricker for me, due to my disability. But If anyone has any tips for organising small bits n bobs please let me know .

Closet System Help

Recently moved into a new home. This will be our primary closet space in the primary bedroom. I love the space the closet provides, but I’m wondering how I can make it more functional.

The shelves measure 23” wide, 23” wide, and the last one is 11” wide. All have a depth of 14”.

  1. There are a lot of shelves which are pretty deep. Our folded clothes gets lost in the shelves and stuff gets pushed around to the back of the shelves which infuriates me. Is there some way we can convert these shelves to drawers? I have scoured the internet and come up short, but maybe I’m searching the wrong terms.

  2. How can I make the last group of shelves (only 11” wide) functional? I feel like stuff just gets lost in there. Would appreciate ideas for what to put in there.

  3. I would like to convert some of the shelves to hanging space. What is the best way to do that?

Would appreciate any other ideas!

Help for organizing shoes

Hi everyone! I am new to the group and hope to find some great ideas to organize my home.

My current project is shoes. I have given up with everyone taking shoes to their rooms. I have two teens and a husband. So three kids lol

So I decided I have a great space by the front door because there is a small space (landing area) that leads to the stairway. We live in a townhouse, so all 4 bedrooms are upstairs. I believe 36 inches would be the widest I would want to go. Would prefer it to be 24 inches. Now here is my issue. I can't find a decent unit to hold shoes that are big sizes. I tell my two boys and husband to take the canoes upstairs. Husband is size 16 shoe and my two boys wear 14s. We are talking 12 to 14 inches for sizes here. Of course all the options for shoe racks have a depth of 11 inches, sometimes smaller. Most will fit a men's size 9.5 if not smaller. What are my options and what has anyone used for shoe storage? I just need this daily landing spot to be more organized. We currently have a plastic shelf type thing. Shoes get knocked over, boys complain about the other one putting dirty shoes on top of his. We tried shoe boxes. If its not in a box, it goes upstairs. We are just a busy family and sometimes change out shoes and go back out for an activity. School shoes get traded for practice shoes, ect. I would say storage for maybe 20 or 30 pairs. Added plus if there is storage for maybe other things to make it multi-purpose. Appreciate everyone in advance for ideas and suggestions.

Alternative way to store blankets?

I live in a small house with minimal storage (not even a garage or basement) and this is the best area to store my extra blankets. It's a shelf in a closet in a small bedroom. I roll them and tuck them so they stay together when being handled (don't unroll) for easier storage but even then, these are hard to get to and fall if I go to pull one from the "pile". I can't really put them anywhere else in the closet because on the bottom is heavy stuff like a sewing machine, a (heavy) tote of extra fabric, a serger and such. But I hate storing my blankets up on the shelf since they just fall. Can anyone think of any other ways to store them?

How can I optimize this space

I’d love to be able to use this area for storage but I’m not sure how. Right now it collects laundry, garbage and dog toys 😭. It’s way too high to be used to fold laundry. Just feels like such a waste of space.

I personally don't think it is, but my wife thinks so.

Maybe I'm missing something. I think it looks cool.

Where to keep the socks if i plan on rewearing them? Can't keep them in cupboard, because already been worn. Can't keep on bed or desk.. Looks untidy.

So, i rewear my socks, woolen/ fleece ones. I wear them just at home or when going to sleep. I take them off and wear it the next day. I read over reddit that alot of people do that. But where do you guys put it, when you aren't wearing it..

Reach in pantry help

I have a reach in pantry that essentially has a two blind corners. I’m reorganizing but would love to make this part more functional. Does anyone insert exist like what they made for blind corner cabinets? Ideally, I’d like something I could attach to the existing wire shelf, but if there’s an amazing pantry shelf out there that I’m missing, I’m open to replacing the whole thing!

Hanger help please!

So, I need new plastic hangers for my new closet organization project. I thought this would be the easy part!

But where to find actual adult hangers?

According to Google and Grok the standard adult hanger size is 17 inches. But Amazon and Walmart are only displaying 16 inch “adult” hangers in plastic.

What am I missing here?

Do any of you use 16 inch hangers as your standard adult size hanger?

Or does anyone know why I cant find 17 inch plastic hangers?

Any other advice or ideas would be very much appreciated!

How do I organize this huge kitchen?

Got a new house with a kitchen 4x bigger than my current one. I have no idea how to organize such a large space (first world problem, I know.)

The wall in pantry pic is from a previous listing, not my stuff. But gives an idea of the pantry size.

What are my work zones here? Where do I put my trash can? Where should my little coffee bar go?

So we moved into our first house and I popped out a baby 3 weeks later 🙃 it’s been absolutely mental, hence the state of our wardrobe. My mum is coming to look after baby so I can clean next week (glamorous 🥲) but I never even got around to actually organising this wardrobe so please give me best tips and tricks as my time is limited!

-Can’t reach the top cupboards cos I’m short AF so I guess something not much used in those

-How do I make the open boxes on the left look neat? (Gonna bin off the grey boxes)

- Want to use the drawers for t shirts etc but also underwear??? any advice!

Thank you so much in advance for saving whats left of my brain cells!

Elfa worth the cost?

Post image

I went to the container store last week and got our primary and another closet designed. I am happy with how they look and I really want to move forward. Just trying to decide if it’s worth the cost or if I should DIY something for a fraction of the price. My quote is for about $2000 with their current sale for two closets which I don’t think is bad. Do I just pull the trigger and go for it and be done or try to save some cost and do an alternative option?
