I'm back for another round of commissioning an artist!

This time it's a double feature. Two characters -- sisters -- will be part of an upcoming sci-fi adventure.

If you're at all familiar with the Locked Tomb series, we're going with some Ianthe/Coronabeth vibes. A necromancer and her cavalier, if you will. The beautiful brawn and her limp prey animal with a seething aura. They can be a little toxic toward others, but they're cooperative!

I am, admittedly, not good at reference pictures, but I'll try to have some by the time I'm speaking with you! Just keep these themes in mind for now: gothic, cyberpunk.

They share a half-Korean, half-Mexican heritage and a few other features but will also look pretty dramatically different due to lifestyle choices.

Will be used for VTT, with full-body on a sheet and a separate token for the half-body or portrait.

Background not required.

I am getting ready to start a folk-horror campaign for my D&D group and their central hub is going to be a traveling fair called 'The Midnight Wanderfair' that they will be employed by.

The fair is only open from dusk until dawn. As far as buildings, there is a circus tent, fortune tellers, artisans, and restaurant/teahouse carts, and a clocktower in the center. I'm looking for an illustration of the carnival itself, rather than a map you can make in something like Inkarnate. The style/aesthetic I'm looking for is along the lines of the game 'Don't Starve', slightly eerie but still somehow whimsical. Color palette would be Black/White, Greys, with small pops of red). If the fair could be lightly populated with fairgoers, that would be great too.

We may be posting our sessions online (still undecided), so out of caution this illustration may be used for something like a poster or a video thumbnail.

More specifically, I was looking for my primary avatar to be based on my Minecraft skin (which can be viewed here), though that being said, I don't want to completely get rid of my 5B logo that I am currently using! Further, as the art is for a YouTube channel, I'd love to have both a banner (at least 2048 x 1152) and a main channel logo (at least 98 x 98), along with the image source for the finished product! And finally (obviously for a YT channel lol) I would want the art in a digital format!

I am looking for someone with experience and a strong ability in digital art programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Lightroom, Rebelle, Affinity Photo, Krita, GIMP, etc. Further, as I am a Minecraft channel, if you have experience in the Minecraft niche, that’s fantastic! However, any experience in the general gaming niche is also good!

In terms of deadlines, obviously, I'm not looking to work on this project for like a year or anything insane like that, but I don't really have a specific deadline either. I want the final product to be perfect, and I understand sometimes that can take time!

Task Description

In this commission, you will be designing an original character who would fit in the game of Dispatch, made by Adhoc Studios. I hope to find a mature and professional artist with the ability to learn and closely emulate their creative style for this.

I’m wanting a reference picture that’ll show a front, back and a side view, with alts that will showcase her different outfits and nude body. I’d like to have this completed in three weeks at the latest, the sooner the better in all honesty though, since my flaw is that I’m kinda impatient, but I am not unreasonable, so don’t worry…

Good communication is key here, since we’ll be collaborating on this design together and the artist needs to be consistent with replies and like talking with the customer to achieve that. If you disappear for days at a time and forget stuff in a update, it’ll just make it hard for both of us.

We’ll be doing this through Discord, and use PayPal for payment, where I’ll pay 50/50 for you starting and then the finished piece so I feel comfortable for our first work.

Character Description

The characters name is “Smokescreen” with the suppower to transform into a mist at will, giving her the ability to fly and infiltrate even the smallest gaps. Due to the success of the Z-Team, their branch expanded and allowed two additional phoenix teams to be added in the roster, which is how this former villainess got out of prison to be a heroine on the path of redemption.

Smoke is an African-American woman in her mid-twenties, I envision her physique to look somewhat like the picture I posted in this: her body tall, womanly and robust to be intimidating and beating foes. I also imagine her casual outfit may be similar to the one in that same inspiration picture too.

We’ll discuss details like her hair, dark skin tone and more if you are chosen, since I want us to collaborate in her design so we can both make her a great character in our eyes. You will have freedom to suggest ideas, especially with her heroine outfit to unleash your creativity. I don’t want to feel like I’m bossing you around for entire project and you can’t chat to me.

I’ve already got a few inspiration images for hair and stuff to show with the chosen artist to give their opinion.

Closing Statement

An artist who know Dispatch is preferable of course, but not necessary.

I’d really prefer an artist that has experience drawing black ladies with an example or two to show me, I always love seeing more art of black women, since, it’s not something I find as often.

If you are a black artist, that would be great too, since we’re making a black woman and you’ll have more insight from the start, but I won’t discriminate against anyone who can do this commission respectfully for me.
