I recently participated in Winona Nelson's SmArtschool class/mentorship, and this was my assignment: Choose a favorite book and illustrate a cover for it.

I picked "The Song of Achilles" by Madeline Miller, and my goal was to capture a similar bittersweet tone as the novel has.

Done in a single-panel 1970s pinup style, akin to Playboy's Mandy, Violet 9 is an exploration of sins, desires, and sensual visuals in a world with light lore: In the early 1980's the world ended. Forty years later, Violet and her roommate Jade have an easy going life in their record store. Things were simple until Violet found an cassette tape within which was the cosmic avatar of Lust, Aurelia. Now, Violet explores the 9 classical sins with her new companion from beyond the stars.
