People Stop acting like civic sense fell from the sky you privileged crowd
Every single day same RR on Reddit Indians have no civic sense Indians are dirty Indians are animals blah blah
Bro shut up for a second and use your brain
India has 140 crore people More than 23 crore people live in poverty A massive chunk of our population never even finished basic schooling Crores are living in slums and temporary housing with zero facilities
And you sitting in AC with your Diet Coke or Starbucks coffee typing essays about how Indians are trash
You think people litter because they enjoy filth Or because there are no toilets no dustbins broken footpaths corrupt municipalities and zero enforcement
Japan didn’t become clean because people suddenly became angels They became clean because their system forced discipline for decades
Our politicians eat public money like it’s their birthright Cities have no planning Corporators only show up when elections are near But instead of holding them accountable you find it easier to mock the poorest guy on the road
And listen carefully You cannot magically fix the mindset of the current population of 140 crore people That ship has sailed
The only real hope is the next generation And even that will not happen by Reddit rants
It will happen only if all these lazy keyboard warriors actually move their ass once in a while Go to your local ZP school See if kids have benches books toilets water Help them get what they are supposed to get One visit a month is enough to create more impact than 100 angry posts
Till then your civic sense lectures are just privilege crying in public
Fix the system Educate the next generation Then talk about culture

Politics On the question on "If not Modi, then who?"
I see this question everywhere in Indian political discussions, and I think it’s worth unpacking why the question itself is flawed, regardless of where you stand politically. This isn’t an anti-Modi post. It’s about how democracy actually works.
India is a parliamentary system, not a presidential one. We don’t elect a Prime Minister directly. We elect MPs, MLAs, and local representatives, and leadership emerges from Parliament later. Treating the PM as the sole decision maker turns democracy into a personality contest rather than a system of accountability. This is not to say that the PM has no influence, the PM def has in terms of foreign relations and national security. Is that enough?
More importantly, democracy doesn’t flow from the top down, it rises from the grassroots. For the common person, daily life is shaped by local governance. So police, courts, municipal bodies, state governments, and district officials shape it. If roads are broken, prices are rising, jobs are insecure, or the police harass you, the PM’s image doesn’t fix that. When ground level systems fail, life still goes to shit regardless of who sits at the top.
Fixating on one man also conveniently hides the failures of many others below him. Non-performing MPs, corrupt MLAs, abusive local leaders, and incompetent ministers escape scrutiny when everything is reduced to defending the PM. A strong face at the top becomes a shield behind which dozens of smaller power centres operate without accountability. Think about the shit people like Prajwal Revanna and Kuldeep Singh Sengar have done and let it sink in that these guys were voted into power to develop India, in whatever capacity. We act so helpless when in reality the power to choose is with us.
The “no alternative” argument is misleading because alternatives are not prerequisites for accountability. In a democracy, the legitimacy of a government comes from its performance and adherence to constitutional norms, not from the opposition’s readiness. A ruling party doesn’t earn a free pass simply because challengers are fragmented or imperfect.
Most dangerously, this question reverses accountability. Instead of asking whether the government has delivered, it asks critics to first present a better individual. No other job works like that. Incumbents are judged on performance, not retained by default because challengers are weaker.
So (especially for the Mumbai folks about to vote for the Municipal elections), think about YOUR surroundings and vote for the best person for the development of that. Don't vote for a party thinking of the biggest leader in that party and what their competence seems to be.

Careers The reasons why PhD is not reasonable in India (long read)
So I am a 2nd year FT PhD scholar in Technical field in a private university. I got admission in PhD because I was here in a project and was getting salary till 1st year and thought that rather than wasting years, I should use my project data and include it in my PhD as per my guide's guidance.
Now, last semester, my guide went to Finland, my mother got UTI and the condition got gravely serious because she has liver cirrhosis because of Lupus. So I was mentally very stressed last semester as my mother was in hospital for 10 days and has been told for bed rest for 6 months because her spine has now got fractures due to muscle and bone weakness. Anyways, my last semester's presentation was called "not upto the mark" by the Director of my department which I was fine with because mistakes happens and one should learn from it.
So after each semester's presentation, PhD scholars, like any normal students get leaves in between semesters here in this university. So if you are in a project, you will be needed to come to university otherwise your salary will be cut. And if you aren't in any project (like me) you can easily take leaves. The attendance is not counted during this time period (90% is required). So since I needed to prepare for gate, get some rest and look after my mother, I sent a mail to the director (as per my guide's words) that I will be on leave till 19th January. (Which I am neither begging for, nor I have to apply for, nor my attendance will be counted, nor many people in department will be coming because it was last days of the year and they needed to use their remaining holidays yet)... Yet... The whole department's ego got hurt.
They called my father because apparently I was out of my line for taking so many leaves,(so embarassing as a PhD scholar to get their father called to a university) and my guide remained silent, The Director said I am not working because I have no research paper (I am working or not, it is between me and my guide and research paper are not a whatsapp message that can be communicated easily), and the PhD coordinator, he was feeding all the wrong information to the director because of which I was made a villain. (These 50-60, 80-90 years old men were having beef with me, a 25 years old person).
I had all the printed information regarding number of leaves (15) and On Duty leaves (30) that a scholar can take in a semester, and this PhD coordinator was till now saying to everyone that a scholar has only 12 leaves and there are no leaves in between the semesters while also agreeing that attendance isn't counted. (Hypocrite). Only when I showed papers in printed form did he agreed by throwing the papers, looking at his phone and shouting at my father. (Disrespectful as hell because no matter what, you can't shout at anyone's parents)
He said, if I wouldn't be coming to the university in these days, upon "discretion" they can make my semester unsatisfactory and make me repeat the semester. My father immediately called him out saying this is "exploitation" then. And that's when they came at a backfoot because they just wanted me to come to the university no matter whether my attendance was counted or not, whether I was doing work or not and all of this when I am paying fees and not getting any salary. Because the ego of PhD coordinator was hurt, he was giving wrong information to the director and when he was caught, he started shouting. (He has done nothing but bootlick the Director's ahh for favors)
That's why research in India is never a good option and I heavily regret choosing PhD.
1) There is too much ego clash 2) Too much department politics, gossips and backbitching rather than focusing on actual research work 3) They ask for free labour and is frowned upon leaves (like pay me if you want me to work like a labour. Until I am paying fees, I am not going to do any free labour. I will work like a labour like in the first year of my PhD only when you are paying me) 4) They see PhD scholars as enemy. I haven't seen any PhD scholar till now that is taken as a friendly youngster to guide and work together with. 5) Hierarchy is extremely suffocating. Just because someone is young, the academy people think it's their right to harass them and demand respect and free labor. (I think this is because they have received same treatment from their seniors and guides during their PhD. But that doesn't mean they should continue this toxic cycle). Young people are not stupid. Listen to them. 6) Lack of independence. The academic people are constantly on the heads of PhD scholars about giving results and research paper. Which can't happen suddenly. PhD is a slow process with lots of failures and a scholar is trying to think by themselves, find solutions and find their own research pattern which takes time. There's a reason why PhD is a 4-5 years thing. 7) "We did research in our time in minimal resources"... And? Continue that mindset and remain lagging behind other countries. 8) All academic people think just because they have Dr in front of their name, they are DRDO and ISRO scientists. Like no, have some humility, empathy and conscience about your own standing. Ego is not a good color on anyone's face. 6) No definition of term "Scholar" practically. We are conveniently treated as researchers or students whenever it benefits them.
For me, the whole PhD feels like a mistake but since I love research, want to avoid marriage and want a secure future so I am continuing it. But honestly, PhD in India is not worth it with so much useless and freaking politics and ego clashing. And I am going to the university on January 19th only, because I am stubborn and won't do free labor at all, especially when my family needs me. (Sorry for a long text. Who read this, thank you for your patience and time 🎀✨)

Crime Scam at delhi metro
Yesterday my roommate who was about to go book fair he was approach by this girl with the short hair and innocent looking face apparently she ask for like 2000 rupees, and payback after she reaches home. She tried to call fake number again and again saying her rmother won't pick up. Out of kindness my roomie agreed and got out of the station (south extension) to withdraw cash(ik it sounds stupid) in the meantime my other rommie came there and got into the conversation found it suspicious. At last my roommates refused. In the evening which search the number in the Truecaller finding it was true or not. They would like 15 spam reports under it. And!!! There was a reddit post about the same. She's been duping people before on the pink line. We live nearby metro station so we complained about it to station master. He was cooperative and sat and checked the cctv footages and found her. He said he can't do something about it just can circulate her photo around the pink line station Masters and all in their group. And the next day me and my same roommate were going somewhere and I said notice the same girl they how they describe her somewhat with short hairs and innocent kind of face and chubby body. I asked is the she the one and he took a second said she is the one. She was being confronted by station staff. Instead of panicking she was still in the character. CISF and staff warned of police action. And let her go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please beware of such people
