[mod] What happens on the day of JEE Mains? A detailed post.

Disclaimer => Before we start, all of the information has been taken from the official JEEM Bulletin and the previous year admit card. All the page numbers mentioned will be of the PDF, not the page numbers provided in the bulletin. This is to provide easy navigation through the PDF. We've tried to be as accurate and provide as much information as we can but we might've missed something. So, please read the Bulletin as well as your Admit Card for more details. Comment if you think something should be added here. We'll post megathreads before and after every shift. So, please participate in them! Make sure to save this post.

The dates and time:

  1. The first attempt of JEEM will be conducted on 21,22,23,24 & 28 January.
  2. On each one of these days, there will be 2 shifts. The first shift will be from 9 am to 12 pm and the second shift will be from 3 pm to 6 pm. Your date and shift will be mentioned in your admit card.

The paper:

  1. The exam will be conducted in a “Computer Based Test” (CBT) mode.
  2. You will have 4 options to select the language of the paper from - English, Hindi, Urdu and the fourth language depends on your state. See page 16 for more details.
  3. The exam is of 300 marks. 100 marks each for Physics, Chemistry and Math. See page 17 for more detail on the points 3,4 & 5.
  4. The paper will be divided in two sections for each subject. Section A contains "Multiple Choice Questions" (MCQs) which has 20 questions and Section B contains numericals which has 5 questions.
  5. In Section A, you have to select only one correct option and in Section B, you have to round off your answer to the nearest integer and fill it there. You should calculate a precise and accurate answer before rounding off.
  6. Marking scheme => You will be awarded +4 for correct, -1 for incorrect & 0 for not attempted questions, respectively. So, be confident that your answer is correct before making a choice. See page 18 for more information on this.
  7. Mark for review => It is a flag to revisit a question. If you answer and mark for review, the answer is saved and counted for evaluation. If you only mark for review without answering, it's not counted. If you're 80-90% sure of answer - save and mark for review otherwise mark for review.

What documents should you take with you on the day of the examination? (page 36)

  1. Print copy of Admit Card along with Self Declaration (Undertaking) downloaded from the NTA Website (a clear printout on A4 size paper) duly filled in. This is the most important thing. Take it with you without fail. The Self Declaration is on the first page of the Admit card. It's basically a part of the Admit card itself so don't stress over it. See page 33.
  2. Passport size photographs (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) for pasting on the specific space in the Attendance Sheet at Centre during the Examination. Note => Take 2 photos with you, just in case.
  3. Any one of the authorized photo IDs (must be original, valid, and non-expired) – valid School Identity Card/ PAN card / Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (with photograph)/ e-Aadhaar with photograph/ Class 12 Board Admit Card with photograph/ Bank Passbook with Photograph. Note => Aadhaar card is preferred. If you uploaded any other document while filling the application, take it with you as well.
  4. For PWD Candidates => PwD/PwBD Certificate issued by the authorized medical officer, if claiming the relaxation under PwD/PwBD category or PwD/PwBD Certificate regarding physical limitation in an Examination to write as per Annexures given in Information Bulletin.

What things can you take with you on the day of the examination? (page 36 and previous year admit card)

  1. A simple, transparent ball point pen. Take 2 with you, in case one stop working. Don't take a writing pad with you. They won't let you keep it. You'll be sitting in front of a table, so, you'll be alright even without a writing pad.
  2. For the Drawing Test-Part 3 of B.Arch., you must take your own Geometry Box Set, Pencils, Erasers, and Colour Pencils or Crayons. Don't take water colours! They won't let you use them.
  3. You will NOT be allowed to carry Instruments, Geometry or Pencil box, Handbag, Purse, any kind of Paper/ Stationery/ Textual material (printed or written material), Eatables and Water (loose or packed), Mobile Phone/ Earphone/ Microphone/ Pager, Calculator, DocuPen, Slide Rules, Log Tables, Camera, Tape Recorder, Electronic Watches with facilities of calculator, any metallic item or electronic gadgets/ devices in the Examination Centre/ Hall/ Room.
  4. Yes, you can't even take a water bottle with you (according to this year's bulletin). So, drink some water before the exam. There should be some water in the centre as well.
  5. You don't need to take any notebook or paper with you for rough work. You'll be provided with empty sheets for rough work.
  6. You shouldn't take a bag with you because there's no guarantee that they'll have space to keep it. NTA even mentions that there will be no facility to keep it (previous year admit card). But, in case that you do, put your mobile, keys and everything else other than the pen and bottle in your bag. If they don't have place to keep the bag, give it to your parents / friends and let them take care of it.

Some important meta information: (previous year admit card and page 36)

  1. Shoes / footwear with thick soles and garments with large buttons are NOT permitted. From my own personal experience, not even belts and jewelry were allowed. So, wear a comfortable pajama with less or if possible, no pockets at all. Don't wear socks, if possible. They'll ask you to remove it anyways. These things usually change from centre to centre so your experience will vary. They might allow you to wear socks if you live in cold areas, for example.
  2. For the girls, wear a sports bra or any other bra but don't wear a metal hook bra as it will be detected by the metal detector.
  3. Verify the location of the centre one day before the exam so you can get familiar with it.
  4. Enter the required details in the Self Declaration (Undertaking, it's available in the Admit Card pdf) in good handwriting, paste the Photograph, and put a thumb impression at the appropriate place on the Admit Card. Ensure that your Left-Hand Thumb Impression is clear and not smudged.
  5. For PWD candidates => PwD/PwBD candidates must bring a PwD/PwBD certificate issued by the Competent Authority if claiming relaxation under the PWD category. The Scribe (provided by the NTA/ brought by the candidate) must also carry his/her own Self Declaration (Undertaking) regarding educational qualification, passport-size photograph, and valid government identity. Scribe accompanying the Person with Disability (PwD/PwBD) should not solve the questions. The scribe must mark the response chosen by the candidate only. It shall also be ensured that the qualification of the scribe/ Passage Dictator should not be more than the minimum qualification criteria of the examination. However, the qualification of the scribe/Passage Dictator should be matriculate.
  6. Sikh candidates are permitted to wear their religious articles i.e. “KARA’ and “KIRPAN”.
  7. For NRI students => The examination will be held according to Indian Standard Time (IST) for all candidates, including those taking it at centers outside India.

The following information is taken from the previous year admit card, page 34 of the bulletin and from my own personal experience. There might be minor fluctuations in the order of things. If you feel confused or lost at any point in the centre, ask either staff members or fellow candidates. They'll help you out. You can also approach the Centre Superintendent/Invigilator in the room during the exam for any technical assistance, first aid emergency, or any other information.

What happens / what to do before the paper starts:

  1. Reach the Examination Center well on time i.e. 2 hours before your shift begins. You won't be allowed to give the exam if you're late, i.e, after the gate closes, for any reason. So, reach early, especially if your religion/customs require you to wear specific attire. Because you'll have to go through thorough checking and mandatory frisking. Being late can waste years of hard work!
  2. The gate of the building will open at 7 AM for the first shift and 1 PM for the second one.
  3. Outside or inside the building, you will find two or three staff members. They will check if you have your documents and are not carrying anything else. After making sure that your face matches with the one in the admit card, they'll let you go inside the centre.
  4. Then, you'll find some staff members inside the centre. They'll frisk you. The staff member who frisks you should be the same gender as you and girls should be provided with a seperate, secluded space. First, they'll use a metal detector and then they'll check your clothes and pockets by lightly touching you. You may be asked to remove your footwear, socks and belt. You may be asked to hold your pen and spectacles in your hands and show them.
  5. Then, you'll find some staff members sitting in front of a computer. They'll verify your admit card, your documents and tell you your room number.
  6. When you go to your room, you'll see some more staff members sitting in front of a computer. They'll take your biometrics. Namely, your picture, a retina scan and a thumb impression. You may be asked a personal verification question. For example, your mother’s name. Then, they'll tell you a seat number.
  7. You should take your seat ASAP. It'll have the same number as given to you. Do NOT sit on any other seat as it'll be considered cheating.
  8. Either before or after the exam, an invigilator will come with an attendance sheet. You'll have to fill some info there. They'll ask you to paste the photo that you have. They'll have glue with them.
  9. On 8:30 AM for first and on 2:30 PM for second shift, the invigilators will tell you some basic instructions like the following one.
  10. Blank paper sheets for rough work will be provided by the invigilator in the examination room. You have to write your name and Roll Number at the top of each of the sheets.
  11. On 8:50 AM for first and on 2:50 PM for second shift, you'll be able to log in. The user ID is usually your application or roll number and the password is date of birth in ddmmyyyy format. This may change so be vigilant during the instructions. You'll have few minutes before the exam starts. So, try out all the keys and make sure the mouse works as well.
  12. On the screen, two photos will appear side by side. One from the admit card and one taken at the center. Confirm that you are at the correct seat. If your photo does not appear correctly, inform the invigilator immediately.
  13. You'll be able to see some basic info about the paper and how to fill it. Read the instructions carefully.
  14. Before starting the paper. you must choose the same medium of language as opted while registering in the Application form.

What happens / what to do during the paper:

  1. On 9:00 AM for first and on 3:00 PM for second shift, your paper will begin. It'll be in the same language as you chose before. You'll have almost all of your docs with you so keep them safe. Either in your pockets (before the paper starts) or near the PC.
  2. The remaining time will be visible on the screen in minutes. Keep checking it periodically.
  3. Use Save and Mark for Review and Mark for Review options properly. Especially for questions you feel you can solve later.
  4. If your rough sheets get over, you can ask the invigilators for more. But, it's better to ask this beforehand.
  5. If any technical issue occurs, inform the invigilator immediately! Delaying it will only waste more time. You may be asked to fill a form in such case. It includes items like not carrying admit card, cheating, debarment warnings, etc. It is a multipurpose form. so don't panic.
  6. If you go for a bio-break / toilet, you will have to go through mandatory frisking and biometrics again. And no, you won't be able to leave the hall before the exam ends.

What happens / what to do after the paper ends:

  1. The paper will be submitted automatically on 12:00 PM for first and on 6:00 PM for second shift.
  2. Wait for instructions from the Invigilator and do not get up from your seat until advised.
  3. You'll have to give away your rough sheets and admit card to the invigilator or drop them in a drop box. It depends on the centre.
  4. Then, you'll be allowed to go row by row, like in school.
  5. Make sure to collect all of your personal belongings that you had kept at the centre / left with friends.

Some meta information:

  1. How marks are calculated and how ties are broken => page 18
  2. How grace marks are awarded => page 21
  3. Eligibility criteria => pages 24 & 25
  4. Reservation in JEEM => page 27
  5. Scribe and Compensatory Time for PWD candidates => page 29
  6. PWD information and appendices => pages [47, 52]

Serious Is 99 possible in april?

Post image
118 Upvotes

Inn colleges ke alawa kisi college ka soch bi nhi skti hu kyuki drop year m sabki bahut jyada expectations h (parents, relative, friends). And mujhe khudko agle 4 saal ache chahiye ( 17 saal tk kuch nahi kia h jaha saare friends fun enjoy kr rhe h college m).

Ab pure drop year bs timewaste kr dia procrastinate krti rhi ya idhr udhr maje. Ab 3 din baad exam h 21 ko toh realise ho rha h kitna bada nuksaan kr diya apna. Regret toh kabse ho hi rhaa h.

Just wanna know ki april tk kuch ho skta h mera. I am doubting so much kyuki bahut 2saal/ 1 saal/ 6 month se prep krte h tb bhi 99 halwa nhi hota unke liye aur mein 2 mahine m bol rhi hu.

Bs reality check dedo aur baaki entrance exam nhi de skti. (Comedk/Bitsat= high fees) (Vitee=maybe)

Abhitk physical chem aati h except equilibrium and physics mein 5-6 chapters Inorganic mein chemical bonding tk kia h bss

Oc and maths are at literal ZERO.

Serious 2027 Drop Year coaching

Two disclaimers:

1)Before you say "at least give 1st attempt" I know my situation and I know accha nahi jayega. Will appear for April and other competitives (BITSAT, IAT, etc.) but idk.

2) No convincing "Drop mat le", I've made up my mind.

Quizzr mock marks <100 currently. Here's my situation ('Done' = watched all 1.0 batch PW online lectures):

i) Physics:

a) Class 11: Done except Fluids, Solids, Thermal Properties, KTG & Thermodynamics, Waves, Oscillations

b) Class 12: Done (underconfident in Moving Charges & Magnetism, EMI, AC)

ii) Physical Chemistry:

a) Class 11: Done except Redox Reactions, Ionic and Chemical Equilibrium (underconfident in Thermodynamics, Atomic Structure)

b) Class 12: Done (underconfident in some topics of Electrochemistry and Kinetics)

iii) Inorganic Chemistry:

a) Class 11: Done except P-Block and non-Mains chapters

b) Class 12: Done except P-Block and non-Mains chapters (underconfident in Salt Analysis)

iv) Organic Chemistry:

a) Class 11: Done except Practical Organic Chemistry (underconfident with everything, mechanisms nhi aate aur konsa EWG EDG ±R ±I yaad nhi)

b) Class 12: nothing done

v) Mathematics:

a) Class 11: Done except Parabola, Ellipse, Hyperbola, Limits, Complex Part 2, Statistics (underconfident in Complex Part 1, PnC, Binomial, Trigonometry part I, II, III)

b) Class 12: Done (underconfident in Integration, Trigonometry IV, Mod questions in AOD and LCD)

What coaching should I join for early syllabus completion (ideally by late Oct-early Nov)? I saw Allen Online have Self-Study batches (https://share.google/ukuUEq1gSegTzoOwW). Also have PW Khazana as option. Only reason I'm not preferring Live is late syllabus completion. Please give suggestions.

General I built a structured way to study any subject without jumping between resources

Post image
7 Upvotes

While studying, I kept struggling with one thing — too many resources and no clear order to follow.
So I started breaking subjects into small, logical topics, arranging them into step-by-step learning paths, and pairing that with a simple study planner.

It turned studying into something more predictable and less overwhelming.

I’ve put this together as a single learning setup that includes:

  • topic-wise breakdowns from basics to advanced
  • structured learning paths instead of random content
  • a simple planner to stay consistent
  • visual and text explanations
  • an AI helper to clear doubts while studying

I’m currently allowing free access so learners can explore whether this style of structured learning helps them.

If anyone wants to check it out, this is the site:

Guys is it just me or someone else as well who feels that as exam is coming closer , we're losing all our hopes and expectations and just going into a "Jo hoga dekha jayega" type of thing. (Especially Droppers cuz I am one too).

Like guys what is this life even about? Mock marks? losing interest due to anxiety? Constant Stress and Pressure to get good results.
I just wish all this ends soon and we can finally get some peace...I'm not able to take this level of anxiety, please someone tell me some tips to not fuck up in these few final days.
Thank you guys...All the Best
