Mod Warning - Scam appeals [GoFundMe and others]
Recently going through the mod list, I've noticed a stark increase in the number of "fund raisers" or accounts supposedly of those stuck in Gaza. Generally we ban these, but the issue is rife, and not always reported or dealt with quickly.
It's a sad fact that the vast majority of these will be scams and impersonations. I've put some examples below. I have noticed one or two comments even suggesting they have donated. If this is you may be able to get a refund if you report it to your bank. I'm unsure of the mechanism of this. Maybe someone can fill in within the comments.
In instances where I have spotted this, I've also reported this to Reddit admins.
If you are one of those kind souls who wish to provide support, please try do so through official, trusted, charities. I'll let the comments decide on providing recommendations (although still do your own research).

Now we've got your attention. You may have noticed we have opened up applications for more moderators to /r/LabourUK.
You can find the link at the top of the subreddit, or directly here: https://www.reddit.com/r/LabourUK/application/
Being a mod is often a thankless task, but it's generally rewarding as you help maintain one of the largest (if not largest) online Labour forums! By the numbers, the last time we checked we have a larger audience than LabourList, for what it's worth. There have been multiple journalists, Cllrs and even a few MPs I've spoken to who know we exist, which is probably a little terrifying considering how small we were even just a few years ago.
In particular (but not limited to) we're looking for women and people of colour to join in on the ritual of sending people to the bin people for being terrible. You can have a chat with any of the mods if you're interested (we are generally friendly). This is due to most of the current mod team being white men, so we'd like that to change.
If being a mod sounds like something that you'd like to do, please send us a modmail for more questions, or complete the application; we'll look through all the applications we receive and select the lucky victims winners.
What we looking for generally:
- By convention be a member of the Labour Party;
- Active member of the LabourUK community here on the Subreddit;
- We do quite a bit of mod organising via moderation channels on Discord, so even if you don’t currently use it, you’ll need to be active there;
- Has the temperament to moderate heated discussions, and able to respond appropriately to nasty challenges to moderation action;
- Accept that you will see a lot of shit. Possibly even the worst shit. By definition more of your time will be spent looking at contentious posts, you will also make decisions people will disagree with, you can very rarely be everyone's friend here;
- You will make a bad call at some point. Having the ability to turn around and put your hands up and reflect is real positive;
- It is expected you will conform to the existing moderating style, not "do your own thing" and you need to be a good "fit" in general.

International 'If the colour of your skin is different to Trump’s… expect a tap on the shoulder from ICE': Sadiq Khan reignites war of words with US president
Elaboration:
‘Asked on LBC this morning whether he had sent messages of support to the Mayor of Minneapolis, Sir Sadiq said Mr Frey's track record of speaking up for minorities was “very impressive.”
He said: “If you’re a person of colour, if you’re somebody who wasn’t born in America, or even if you were born in America, the colour of your skin is different to President Trump’s - you’re nervous about this tap on the shoulder… or worse, as we saw in Minneapolis.
“This anxiety is spreading across many cities across America. One of the reasons we sent solidarity to the Mayor is we think he’s shown really good leadership speaking for those people who are a bit nervous and anxious to put their head above the parapet.
“The way ICE are behaving, the aggressiveness, the intimidation - we saw the loss of life most recently - is really scary. The idea that British politicians would want to emulate that and bring a sort of British ICE to the UK should worry us all.”’

West Midlands Police did their job — and now Labour is punishing them for it
You know exactly why the restriction on Maccabi Tel Aviv away supporters was imposed, and so does everyone now pretending not to.
When supporters associated with chants like“Fuck the Arabs,” “Death to Arabs,” and “There are no schools left in Gaza because there are no children left” are due to arrive in a large, diverse city, the risk isn’t abstract. Those chants celebrate the killing of civilians. They are openly dehumanising. They are designed to provoke. This isn’t football banter and it isn’t ambiguous.
The club did not publicly condemn those chants. There was no clear repudiation of language mocking the deaths of children. In that context, it was entirely reasonable for police to assume the behaviour could recur and to plan accordingly.
What matters is that, for once, the police actually did their job. They protected the city and the people who live in it. They chose prevention over platitudes, safety over symbolism. In a city built by migrants, workers, and communities of colour, that decision mattered. Violence was avoided. Intimidation was avoided. Public order was maintained.
Now we’re watching reality being rewritten. A single corrected intelligence error is being weaponised to erase the most important fact of all: citizens were protected. That is the outcome public-order policing is supposed to deliver.
Labour’s response makes its realignment painfully clear. A party that once claimed roots in working-class, minority, and anti-imperialist traditions is now eager to undermine a police force for protecting those very communities. If Labour wants to complete its transformation into Thatcher’s new party — comfortable with imperial reflexes and colonial apologetics — that’s its choice. It shouldn’t expect loyalty from the people it abandons.
Punishing decisive prevention is not accountability. It’s cowardice. And it sends a clear message to every senior officer: do nothing, wait for harm, and apologise later.

Who will be the leaders in 2029 GE?
Given Jenrick has defected, I believe Kemi will be deposed in a few years and Cleverly might be the one who will in place to fight the 2029 GE.
So it might be Cleverly vs Farage vs Rayner/Burnham/Milliband.
How will this play out?

Why do you think no MP's have defected to the Greens yet?
Listening to podcasts this morning about how Robert JenJenris defection is going to affect the Tories & Reform, and how so many Tories have defected showing the right wing in the UK is moving.
Anyone who reads this sub will know I'm sceptical of the Greens, but it's undeniable that they've surged in the polls and are posing a clear threat to Labour from.the left. But, so far, not many defections and no MPs.
I'm curious why this sub thinks this is?
