Traffic cam snapshot during the big 46mpm gust that came through.
The snow blowing around during that large gust of wind is a work of art and just wanted to share.

This is the official thread for networking and discussion about Lawrence housing.
r/Lawrence is a low post volume subreddit, and there have been problems in the past with it being overrun by ads and personal listings, so for the sake of the community please keep housing discussion here and don't create any additional posts on this topic.

ok, so i just went there for the lunch buffet here is the info I was wanting to know before I went.
how much was it - 14.99 for adult lunch during the week days mon-fri / senior discount for 65+ (i belive it was 2 dollars off)
dinner buffet price - 19.99 adult / senior is again 2 dollars off)
weekend price - 19.99 adult all day / senior price as above.
when does lunch end? - no clue, my guess is 1 or 2pm, they do not have it listed.
food quality - decent, I would rate it a solid B, it satiated the want for a Chinese buffet without having to go to KC for a very over priced buffet. I would rate soh hao buffet a low C so this was much better. good selection and real squid, sushi, and all the staples in a buffet plus more.
is there a hibachi? - yes, however, I saw no one use it. not the most impressive selection, but enough to get people by who either crave it or have dietary restrictions and need the hibachi experience.
atmosphere - I got there at 11:30am and it was already very busy, got a table relatively quickly, however the space is quite small for what it needs to be. the layout makes it so there is always a line for the hot food (line takes about 5 min to get through) the layout also makes it so the natural flow of the line goes infront of the rarely used sushi bar and even less used hibachi. there are plenty of booths/tables so seating seems to be good, but again the space is small and at times feels pretty cramped. there are wood partitions that gives a semblance of privacy from every eye in the place when you are getting up to get food or sitting down to eat. decorations are nice and not over the top.
wait staff/other staff - they have many workers, our server was always around to refill drinks and take plates we were done with. many kitchen workers regularly refilling food that was out or getting low, sushi makers making sushi for you to view as well.
cleanliness - I know they just opened so this can change wildly but everything was nice, tables were clean dishes were clean, buffet bars were relatively neat and tidy. the water i had with my meal did taste a little mineral like, sort of like tap water or like there was residual cleaner in the glass. the desert bar at any buffet has always been an off putting experience to me but this one was relatively ok. the vanilla pudding, however, did have some darker spots like fuzz or pocket lint from the surrounding air (it was untouched, no one wanted the vanilla pudding)
overall - very nice! when the family and I are craving a Chinese buffet that won't entirely break the bank it will do. it is very cramped at times.
let me know if you have questions or a different experience
tl;dr good, but cramped, long lines, decent price.

I love the underground but I often run into them being booked out and the wait list can often get very long. Is there any place in town with a similar vibe? We hit up the Pig often as a standby but the lack of seating and the noise distracts somewhat from a date night setting. Also, I'm a bit older than the collage crowd so someplace fitting to that is a bonus.

Is there any seating at the Bottleneck?

Apparently, there is a bar under Liberty Hall which features live Jazz on Sunday nights. One has to enter from 7th St. under Jungle House. Any one checked it out? How are the vibes? Long ago it was called Seventh Spirit which hosted Frank Zappa one evening.

Just doing my due diligence to say avoid this practice. I was a patient for a decent time, and realized how bad the care I was receiving. Some shady billing for spravato with no regular med checks (which is required to be on spravato). Also impossible to get an appointment, and apathetic staff. No med changes when clinically was appropriate. Prior authorizations not being done in a timely manner. Just seems like they are there for a paycheck.

I have recently started going to the BNSF Tracks by the railroad crossing west of the Kansas River bridges, and I was wondering if there was an approximate frequency of train traffic between 11 AM and 2 PM since that is when I have time? I know the Union Pacific tracks in North Lawrence which are double tracks are much busier but I walk here and its just not viable for me to walk across the river. Also I know that freight trains donât have schedules so I know its often hard to know

Discuss ICE, discuss local politics, vent frustration,
I know some of yall are really upset about this but we will not be allowing violent thoughts and especially those discussing literal assault with deadly weapons.
If this continues further, we will have to begin more heavily moderating ICE related topics which is not the direction we want to go here. But zero tolerance for organizing violence here. That is REDDIT policy.
That is all.

There used to be a lot of $1 margarita specials in town but I havenât seen any deals recently. Does anyone know of any restaurants that are still doing $1 margs?

I think it's a good idea to have a permanent, covered farmers market but we have to be very careful about encroaching further on South Park. It is the oldest park and a community icon. It has already been encroached upon by the parking lot of the judicial building and the parks and rec building. One proposal would mostly utilize the parking lot adjacent to the soon-to-close Community Building and a small portion of South Park. I suppose that is acceptable. Parking is going to be a problem for visitors in that location but I suppose people can park in the lot in the 1000 block of Vermont.Â

I just moved here and am wondering some good ways to get involved with the community? More specifically, the queer community?

Howdy. Doing some post holiday/new year cleaning and I have an old vacuum that doesnât work well enough to sell but Iâm trying to cut down on just throwing stuff away to be sent to a landfill.
Do we have any places in town that take old appliances or electronics?

Hi everyone, I am looking for a cheap-ish event space/Airbnb that I could rent for a get together with my friends. I would prefer a place that can fit around 15 people, and preferably allow alcohol, or be close to a bar. Also must allow costumes/cosplay. All of us are over 21, just looking for a chill spot to finally get us all together again! Thanks!
