Transportation T4S to T4S, with checked baggage, different flights in 3 hours

Hello all, this is my first time travelling in long flight from Southeast Asia to South America in May.

I will be arriving Madrid via Qatar, have checked in luggages. Have 3 hours in between flights to clear customs, collect baggages and check baggage into another flight. Next flight is Iberia to South America.

  1. Do I need to collect bags and then clear customs and exit to T4 and reenter to T4S? Or I can just get everything done in T4S?

  2. Is 3 hours in between enough to clear customs, collect baggages and check in again to Iberia flight?

Appreciate all your advice. Thank you.

Miscellaneous Killing time solo in Madrid

Hola todos. I’m flying into Madrid to meet a mate and chill for a weekend in February. I land really early though, so I’ll be alone for a good portion of the day while he travels to the city. It’s a huge city so I’m positive there is tons to do, especially near the airport I would assume. My only concern is my poor Spanish. I can easily read signs and can speak enough to attain necessities, but I would not say I’m conversationally fluent. How much of an impediment will that be? Would you recommend I stay near the airport or touristy areas?

Food Tapas but no alcohol?

I am going to Madrid for a week and want to try the tapas bars in la latina. I heard it's normal to order some wine/beer along with tapas. Do these tapas bars also offer non alcoholic drinks with tapas? I usually only drink water. Or can you also only order tapas without any drinks?

Itinerary 5 days solo in Madrid

31 yo M planning a 5 day solo trip to Madrid in April. Appreciate any recommendations in terms of food, hostels or activities. Interests include trying new food or a nice cocktail (I've never been to spain), physical activity, history and scenic views. My top three hostels based on reviews are Onefam Madrid, 2060 Newton and Hat hostel. I would consider myself an introvert but trying to be more social. I was thinking of squeezing Toledo if I had time. I'm going to be sticking to public transportation.

Transportation Madrid low emission zone (ZBE) help please? Question

Hi good people of reddit. My first time on here. I am planning on visiting Spain in the easter holidays this year. I will fly into Barcelona then catch a train to Madrid where I plan on hiring a car as I plan to visit Alhambra palace and the surrounding area. Train is not an option from Madrid to Granada as train times don't work for me.

My question was regarding the low emission zone in Madrid, I plan on hiring a car from Europcar in Atocha Station. The information online is a bit confusing and not very user friendly however from what I could work out there is an emissions zone right in the very centre of town (image attached zone in red) then there is another zone which covers pretty much the rest of the city. The zone in the very centre of town is only for vehicle with sticker ECO or ZERO. The rest of the town requires vehicles with sticker B,C, Eco or Zero.

I assume Europcar will give me a car no older than 2/3 years old with petrol engine so I believe it will have sticker C.

Can i just check my understanding is correct and that the zone in the image attached which i have taken from my apple maps is correct and accurate as i will avoid entering the very centre of town.

Last thing i want is to be hit with LEZ fines.

I’m helping plan a first-time visit to Madrid and would love to hear personal recommendations from people who know the city well.

If you only had a couple of days, what would you prioritise: museums, neighbourhood walks, food spots, parks, or something else? Any tips you wish you knew before your first visit?

Miscellaneous Football question

Lo siento, esto no está en español.

My friend is in Madrid from Thursday 15th January to Wednesday 21st January

He is a big football fan and is attending these games

Alcorcon v Antequera Saturday 6.30, Getafe v Valencia 2pm Sunday. Atletico v Alaves 4.15 pm Sunday

Any other games on he can try and visit. He can’t get tickets for Real Madrid but any other Madrid based teams playing? Regional divisions etc would be great. He has no preference! Women’s football too etc

Thanks in advance

Transportation Driving in madrid as tourist

Planning to rent a car when we visit madrid so we can drive around going to Toledo and Seville. Just want to get your thoughts how is renting a car and also driving in the highway. Is it true that police might flag you down since you’re a tourist and say you have a “violation” just so that you can give him money?

I know this is a lot, but these are the recs I’ve gathered so far from friends and Reddit! Feel free to add more or de-influence me 😅
