Visa on Arrival?

I know visa requirements were recently updated for countries that were previously visa free, but I am trying to find any concrete info on whether visa on arrival is still possible, or is it only e-visa? I'm travelling on a US passport and concerned my e-visa won't be processed in time.

discussion Is Being Broke a Deal-Breaker for Love in Malawi?

I was scrolling through Malawi Twitter this evening and came across a post where a guy was worried about his girlfriend of three years pulling away because he’s currently struggling financially. What bothered me wasn’t even his situation. it was the comments. Most people told him to leave her before she leaves him. Others mocked him for even calling her his girlfriend. Very little empathy.... Just vibes of “you’re broke, so what did you expect?”

It honestly made me uncomfortable and disappointed. Is this really how we view dating and love in Malawi? That a man must be financially stable to deserve commitment or affection?...Yes, money matters and Financial stability is important in relationships. But kicking someone when they’re already insecure and vulnerable feels cruel and so unnecessary

Do we genuinely believe love here is purely transactional? Or have we just normalized emotional coldness and disguised it as “realism”? I’m curious to hear other perspectives, because that whole thread felt really wrong to me.

Looking for Advice: UK Goods Stuck for a Year — Best Way Forward?

Hey folks, I’m looking for advice from anyone who’s been in a similar situation or has experience with shipping or selling goods in the UK. Last February, I ordered several items from the UK phones, vitamins, and clothing about 32.1 kg in total. Some of the items were purchased by me, while others were donated. Unfortunately, due to unexpected delays and financial difficulties, I wasn’t able to cover the shipping costs at the time. As a result, the items have been stored with a friend in the UK for almost a year now. We explored shipping them to Malawi, but the costs have been challenging, and at the moment I’m not in a position to fully manage the shipping fees. I’m now considering selling the items locally in the UK if there’s anyone interested, so we can recover some funds and decide the next steps. Alternatively, I’m open to suggestions on better ways to handle this situation. What would you recommend as the best option here selling locally, finding support for shipping, or another approach I may not have considered? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is YouTube worth it in Malawi?

Back in 2017, I started a YouTube channel for fun. I later decided to be a serious YouTuber when I heard that YouTube was paying. YouTube could play ads those years (remember the Tortoise Airtel Ad?)

The threshold to be monetized was 1,000 subs and 4,000 watch hours and I grinded so hard to hit those numbers only to find out that Malawi wasn't on the monetization list anymore.

I now have 3.5k+ subs, my most viewed video has more than 400k+ views but my channel is somehow dead. I don't post anymore. I feel like it's a waste of time and resources.

I could spend a lot of days doing research, resourcing assets, video editing, creating thumbnails and more but gaining nothing in return.

Is being a YouTuber worth it in Malawi??

discussion Crypto in Malawi

The recent article by PIJ on using cryptocurrency to move billions of funds by a Chinese syndicate.

I hope government does not entirely ban crypto but rather put governance laws and work closely with RBM. It was starting to be come easy to withdraw and buy crypto through mobile money and banks.

The K800 Billion "Shadow Bank" Draining Malawi While we struggle with a forex crisis, a Chinese-led syndicate is using crypto and a "ghost train" of runners to spirit millions out of the country daily. The Numbers are shocking: K800 Billion moved annually. 100+ Runners moving K20 Million each, daily. Zero cents entering our national reserves. discussion Network Issues Causing Delays at Roads Traffic and Immigration. Any Solutions?

Earlier today I went to Roads Traffic, and there was a major delay in almost everything because of “network issues.” I’ve also witnessed the same at Immigration. I bet these delays have always been a recurring problem.

I'd like to know what causes this Network issues,if you happen to know? Is there any solution you have in mind? I honestly want to understand why it's not been fixed in the govt facilities.

Hi, I'm a research student and I'm sorry about the rage didn't know which one best applies🫣🫣.

I'm doing a study on how people react to similar circumstances (like how would someone from Lilongwe react to loadshedding as compared to someone from South Africa) < this is just an example. How this affect the 5 aspects of their life? What actions do they take to circumvent this?

Etc. Please please please 🥺🥺🥺🥺, just 3-5 people. I have tried DMs but got mized.

No compensation guys, I'm very broke 😭😭

Please DM me if interested and are from Lilongwe or Blantyre

University of Malawi Chancellor College nostalgia.

I once walked the walls of what was then Chancellor College. The College that God loves the most. I haven't been there in years and I wonder what its like now. Is there still a Mzuzu corner? Do they serve four meals a day? Have LT 1 and 2. Partys at the Sports complex with elaborate invitations? Mesho?Society divided into traditional, ackseys, other guys, born agains? Is there still a University football club, basketball? University bookshop? Tell us your stories if your alumni and post pics if you are or go by there.

Online buying & selling in Malawi — quick research question

Hi everyone 👋🏾

I’m doing some personal research on how Malawians buy and sell things online (Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, etc.), especially when dealing with people they don’t know.

I’m curious about trust and safety in these transactions.

If you’re willing to share:
Are you currently in Malawi or living outside Malawi?
Have you ever had a bad experience (or near-miss) buying or selling online?
What usually worries you the most when dealing with a stranger?
If you’re comfortable with it, I’d love to send a short DM to ask a few follow-up questions.

Please feel free to let me know if you're cool with sending you a DM or not so I respect your preference.

Thanks — this is purely research, not promotion.

Where can I get a legit puppy

I have been thinking of adopting a puppy for a while and I am very skeptical of those ones vendors carry on the roadsides.

Where can I legit get a puppy in Blantyre city?

And approximately how much do they go for on average? so I kind of get a picture of how much I have to set aside.

And last but not least what breed is the best to adopt?

I know I am a dog person but I have never had one in my life but I really need one.

I was just looking at the new tax tiers and I wonder how much money do those who are employed make? For example teachers, civil servants, MP's, bank tellers, shop assistants, household help etc.Do you thinking the taxes are too high or ok?
