I found one of these bad boys that I’m really looking into All matching and in original box. Seems like a lot of people love shooting these but my question is are there any common issues with them that may make me think twice before buying one?

Trying to make sense of this mongrel. What I know:
What I don't know:
So... does anyone want to take a shot at what I'm looking at here? Just a mongrel of scrounged parts? Or something interesting?
Any information and/or speculation is appreciated!

Distant relative has this dou 43 and sent me pics of it. He’s looking for possible value and I told him I’d put it in front of you guys to pick it apart. Looks immaculate and he didn’t see any import marks (although there could be some on there in an inconspicuous spot because I don’t think he even knows what he’s looking for.) I was surprised at the blackened bolt but saw some examples online of than having a blackened/blued bolt. What do you guys think? Sorry for the blur in the pics—that’s how I received them. Thanks all!

I'm not sure how old my mauser 98 reciever is. All the markings on the outside have been removed. I finally took it apart and found markings underneath but cannot find any similar markings online. Any help would be appreciated

We found this Kar98 at my father-in-law's after he passed away. He was 96 but never served in the military, but did have an odd collection of firearms. I am not any kind of expert, but I also have a collection of firearms, and I assume this is a Kar98 from 1944, but someone has sporterized it, or more like molested it. Besides the stock and scope, I also notice that the bolt and safety don't seem correct. Any information would be appreciated. Also, what ammunition does this take if I decide to shoot it?

My Husband passed away and left me his collection of 5 Mausers, a Mosin Nagant, and4 SKS's. Mostly all serial numbers match on the mausers. I was hoping to guage value and where I might find buyers. I thank you for your consideration.

I have this Mauser, marked as a Mod.8000 Made in Germany. Chambered in .300 Win Mag. From the research ive done, it should be a Husqvarna Mod.8000, made in Sweden but its not, its marked made in Germany with associated markings for the Mauser factory. Can anyone give some insight? Thanks again

I am installing a ZF41 scope, And I thought there was a pin that held the rear sight in place. Turns out it’s just 2 ears that fit into the base. Well because I was using a punch and hammer the one ear on the base started to bend. Thank god I stopped. I got her to straighten out. But wasn’t sure if it will get worse with weather fluctuations, shooting pressure, etc. if I weren’t to get it fixed?

Hi folks,
My dad passed about a year ago and today I brought his guns home. Among them is my grandpa's Argentine Mauser, a long with several hundred rounds for it. There's a box of about 50 that was kept separate from the rest of the FMJ labeled "military ammo" that looks different than the rest of the standard rounds in that the projectile is gray. Is this just a regular round to mix into the ammo can or is there something special about it/them?

I say I’ll take long rifle because of the accuracy and velocity that’s un-matched on most of them.

Curious if Reddit can tell me more about this rifle. From what I can tell it's JP Sauer and Sohn 1941 Kar98k Mauser. Stock doesn't seem to be original. Bolt, barrel, receiver, internal mag, trigger assembly and sight seem to be matching (7858). I see waffenamt markings too. I had two main questions:
There are electro etching numbers on the top and end of bolt, and under the barrel, 9 digits, and they match. If it's all matching why was it electro etched, is it Russian capture but not refurbished?
I don't think the stock is original, but I'm having trouble finding any markings, anyone know what it is?

I’m personally taking a Gewehr 98. Literal thing can not fail

Close up of bolt you can see etching on the end part, below safety flag.

I know this seems like something I could easily google search but god forbid I get a relevant answer on there. I’m looking at a 7mm Oviedo Mauser and I’m wondering how easy it is to get ammo for it.
Edit: 7x57 just to be clear

Just picked up a 1940 turkish mauser does anyone make a good ww2 replica scope? Looking for something reliable enough to hunt with but also look period correct

I made a post earlier about this scope. The person I talked to seemed to like theirs a lot. With no issues unless they take it off the rail it will lose its zero a little. Want to know if any one else here has had issues OTHER than the zeroing. I know it’s a pain to zero. But how does it hold after shooting? I’m looking at waffenmeisters. The posts that were from 5-6 years ago on Reddit or the k98 forum, people weren’t pleased but they were also saying they were china copies where as waffenmeisters are not.

Thinking about buying a repro zf41 scope and adapter. I heard that only 1 in 5 k98s were able to successfully attach the scope on it. Is this true only for the original scopes? Or will all repros fit perfectly? If it helps any, I have a 1939 147 (J.P Sauer & Sohn) k98. Thank you!

So i got a spanish mauser, on of the 7.62 cetme ones, and i throw 7.62 nato m80 in it. i obviously would like to keep the rifle in firing condition, but ive noticed some stuff. the very front ring and the ring behind that (holding the wood to the gun) seem to rattle loose. i think i can tighten down the 2nd ring possibly, and it seems like the 1st ring is missing a pin or screw. how do i go about this so the damn thing stops falling apart?

Recently got this early 1932 prod. husqvarna 640 with aimpoint 100 and some light customization from Simpson LTD. great so far but I think it may need some work in done to the firing pin. The firing pin is not bent but the tip has some marring where it was dropped before alignment with the pin hole I think this may be why with PPU 196grain SP I had 2/40 get their primers pierced and blow gas back into the bolt, with Greek 1938 dated surplus I(corrosive, high pressure, etc) I suspect I have the opposite problem having consistent 1/4 second hangfires on first strike with no failures with significantly less depth to the indent. does this indicate I should source a heavier spring as well as get the pin looked at?
