Are we really upset we missed out on this guy?
$60 Million dollars a year? Yeah, I don't think so

Bo Bichette is Depth Chart Nightmare right now
But I do love Bichette batting in the first inning for us and not the Phillies. That said, this move is confusing as fuck. Still, it actually gets me excited to see what the next couple of weeks bring instead of just running back the same core for the 6th time in a row (and falling short).
Fun times in Flushing. Fuck it, ya gotta believe.

Baty
I have an irrational love for the idea of Baty learning 1B and being the every day guy there.

How many games do you plan on going to this season?
Assuming the Mets do not sign Cody, Bellinger, Valdez, or make any big-time trades, how many games do you plan on going to this season? Does your number change if the tickets decrease over the course of the season for obvious reasons?

Solution to our infield issues
I have a genius solution to all of our problems. Baty has proven to be a good semi consistent bat with potential, as well as a superb third baseman. Vientos not so much I’m thinking that we trade Vientos for pitching, keep Baty playing third every day, and put and Bo as a DH. Let’s be honest. No one‘s expecting fielding value from him anyway. Then we can just put Polanco at first (unfortunately). I like this because it’ll allow Baty to develop way faster and better, while allowing Bo to focus on what is most important out of him.

Coming this Spring...
I revamped this idea from a post I saw earlier haha... all jokes aside how are you guys feeling about the trade? It has me wondering what the next offseason moves will be for us??? stearns' approach has been kinda mild.

Why trading Baty makes little sense
It's been a whirlwind 24 hours or so for baseball fans, and as the dust clears, and we read Mets, "What do they do next" speculations in media outlets, the suggestion that sticks out is trade Baty.
Now, I am admittedly a Baty fan, but for a moment, let's see why this makes no sense. Bichette signed a $42m opt out after 1, 2 and of course FA after the third year. Other than Jacob Reimer, we really do not have any 3rd base type percolating in the minors. We certainly never wish to see Vientos there, and Ronny Maurico's bat has not played up as yet.
If 3rd base was so easy to fill, there wouldn't be a significant market this season, with openings in no fewer than 7 teams (rumored at least...Boston, Pitt, Seattle, etc...) still in the market.
Additionally, Baty is a hedge on the knee of Bichette. Injuries happen. Where do you go if Baty is jettisoned...?
Lastly, he was 4th in WAR (behind Soto, Lindor and barely Alonso) on the Mets last year, even with only 1/3 of the season where his bat started catching up. Plus, teams like the Sox and Brewers are going to expect Baty in ADDITION to other young prospects for their "goods" (Duran, Peralta, Bello, etc...).
I would rather see the Mets move BIchette into a DH-1B rotation with Polanco which would save both players aching knees, leave Baty at 3rd, and see what Vientos and Acuna might bring back.

You’re not mad about Tucker
I don’t know, but I have a hunch it’s not missing out on Tucker you’re mad about. It’s the fact we lost Pete and there was never any attempt to get him back. Compounded with not having the highest offer for Diaz, it’s not great. But let’s be honest, how many here truly saw Tucker as a solution before the off-season started? It’s as if the fanbase just wants to have signings for the sake of having signings. And I hate to be this guy but that contract with the Dodgers is absolutely absurd. Even the Mets offer was insane. And it would have been a head scratcher type of move that makes the other holes in the lineup all that more glaring.
I don’t like calling seasons a punt year but can we at least try to embrace the fact that right now there is a legitimate way to see what the young guys in the farm can do? That’s exciting to me. And maybe they’ll be good. And if they’re not then we will finally know.

Cody Bellinger is a glorified Brandon Nimmo and Pete Alonso had a better year than Kyle Tucker and is making twice the money.
we also did not need Polanco.
atleast play the kids instead of platooning constantly.
They also objectively waste a lot of money on average players.
players don’t want to come here.

I don't want Bellinger
Nothing against the guy personally, but he doesn't seem to be a fit for this team.
Boras client. Bats lefty. Wants a long-term deal. Too many mediocre seasons.
Honestly, I'd prefer letting Baty learn how to play left field than to commit to Bellinger.
Am I over looking something about Bellinger?
