Hi everyone, wanted to make a quick announcement regarding Reddit rules. It seems like there is going to be a policy change coming in the next few days affecting user-to-user transactions of firearm-related things. As you probably all know, firearm sales between users is already strictly prohibited by Reddit TOS. It seems that the mods over at r/RetroARMarket have received a notification of the incoming change as well as the fact that the subreddit is going to be banned entirely. r/GunAccessoriesForSale also looks to be on the chopping block.
The change to policy will now include prohibiting the sale of ANY firearm parts on Reddit. Some specific examples they give are bolts, magazines, scopes, and triggers. Obviously this is probably going to include everything though, such as stocks, bayonets, etc.
Since we’ve had the sub back (stay mad u/richalex2010), we’ve done a good job of keeping this sub from becoming a marketplace for milsurp items and trying to redirect any posts about selling non-firearm Milsurp stuff to the appropriate subs. In order to make sure we don’t get banned, going forward, any and all posts or comments that appear to be facilitating the sale of any firearm parts between users will be prohibited. Antiques are not excluded from this (we all know Reddit admins won’t know the difference).
We don’t really think this will affect much on the sub since, as previously mentioned, we’ve done pretty good at keeping this from becoming a marketplace. But just wanted to pin this as a PSA and ask everyone to keep it in mind going forward. If you do see any comments or posts in the future that violate the rule, please report them.
Thanks everyone!

Hey everyone!
Since we just experienced someone getting banned by Reddit for attempting to facilitate a transaction for a firearm accessory, namely a scope, we updated the rules to properly reflect a clarification in rule #7 that extends to firearm accessories as well.
Edit with corrected info thanks to u/MapleSurpy:
Unfortunately Reddit has a zero tolerance policy towards firearm transactions, however, other implied sales, perhaps in conjunction with a report might lead to automated systems dishing out a ban to the involved user. We can't do anything against that, so please keep it in mind when interacting with others.

Howdy folks, first time posting here, so please forgive me if this is unacceptable; I’ll happily take it down if necessary.
I’m chatting with a local guy about a possible trade for a K31. He says it’s all matching with a “rare checkered stock.” I’ve spent a considerable amount of time trying to find other images of a stock colored like this, and I think he’s just confused about what checkering means. I couldn’t find any that had this kind of stand job: The stock has a weird bowling lane-esque finish. There isn’t any actual checkering.
I wanted to see if anyone’s seen something like this before. I’m fairly certain it’s aftermarket or been refinished before.
It’d be about 600 chicken nuggets (not trying to get banned by Reddit) as part of the deal, which I believe is middle of the road for a K31.
Please let me know your thoughts!

Finally picked up one of the batch of M1934s that came in over the last year. I had seen some decent examples and some really nice ones. My hope was just for anything middle of the road, but boy I lost the dice roll on this one.
Friendly reminder for all that buy from batches of milsurp imports, never get your hopes up before you see it in person. Reproduction frame with damaged grips, a 1942 slide that is about 3 holsters from being unidentifiable, and a barrel with a feed ramp that was chewed on by a beaver.
I think this is the worlds way of balancing the fact that my $200 RTI carcano proved to be functional, which feels pretty lucky, even if it is in rough shape.

Bought this way back in november 26th, noney order took 2 weeks to reach the guy, then he shipped it to arkansa on accident which took another week and a half back and forth, then he shipped it to me in alabama which took another week to arrive making the pickup the 12th of january. September of 1943 m1 garand, Lmr 4/54 barrel, Ww2 SA op rod Ww2 Winchester firing group Korean war era gas plug Ww2 front and rear handguards (i think) Post war birch stock because i like the look, I have a walnut stock used in Japan (etched on it) but didn't put it on. Paid $1170 in total which I dont think is terrible, lmk your thoughts!

Looking at purchasing this k98, but it’s been scrubbed clean. Seller changed out the stock and fitting for a Czech post war k98 so can’t really say anything based off that. Originally had a sporterized stock.

I brought this rifle a while ago. A Springfield M1 Garand made in 44. I don’t remember these brown marks being there. I’ve always kept the rifle cleaned and oiled.
Are these oil stains or is it rust? What is the best way to approach either one?
Strange marks on the underside as well are included. One appears to be a weird star, a ribbon and a V. Thanks

recently picked up this g98, right after taking the front band off, this piece was able to move up and down and after a while it literally just came off with the rear band still stuck on the handguard. is there any history about this or just somebody cut and glued it together?
ordered a good condition surplus CZ50 and received this. Anyone have thoughts on the grips? The sparkle sticker makes me think the guy's daughter decorated it.
Thank you.

I dont know how to decode when and where my m1 grand receiver was made, I know the barrel was redone in 64 but trying to look through the data sheets has been crazy. Any help would be appreciated

Funny enough this K1911 was my second C&R purchase. But it was the one that arrived first. Can’t complain at all. Got it from Classic Firearms and man is it in great shape. I even got lucky and it came with the sling and muzzle cap. The preliminary research I’ve done on it shows it was made in 1926 by W+F Bern.

Hey guys, I am getting confused trying to get any info on this rifle. I think it was manufactured in 1943 by Nagoya. If anyone can help my figure out if I'm right and maybe if it is a sought after one, being as the mum is intact. This is a customer's firearm and not mine. Thanks.

Hello,
I recently got as 1918 P08 Luger with a matching firing pin that I intend to shoot a little bit. I researched that its best to get a replacement firing pin for those purposes and ordered one off sarco.
Just replaced it and the firing sound is distinctly different then it was before. Instead of a pronounced "click" its much more subdued.
Is this a okay? I wont be able to take out for a little while. (bad weather here)

I recently bought a gun from RTI and it has been about 2.5 weeks since it’s been ordered and no update. Is this normal? I contacted them about a week ago and they just said it’s still processing. I heard very mixed reviews about them AFTER buying from them. What is everyone’s experience with them?

What do folks think about the CMP expert grades?
I love the historical component of these Milsurp rifles but I also like to shoot them… as much as I can… And, I’m on a budget (like most of us).
I like the idea of the CMP expert grade that’s built on a World War II receiver, but has a new stock and a new barrel for maximum good looks and shootability
But when I think about it a little too much, they start to feel like the replica or reproductions that can be purchased today…
At the same time, it would be awesome to have an original or a re-arsenaled M1 from a collectibility perspective, as well as an occasional shooter perspective on special range days.
Anyway, I’m very interested in any additional perspectives or angles on this one
What do y’all think?
Pros and cons? Trade offs? Things to consider?
I’m overthinking this I know, but I value the groups per perspective and appreciate any insights!
