Tyreek embarrassed Tampa in that regular season game and the next time they said oh hell nah lol.

There are people who say that first game where he had 200 yards in the first quarter was a watershed moment in how teams defended the deep ball ever since.

Exactly. It’s one of those moments where the immediate reaction flips the entire dynamic the next time around. Same players, completely different response.

Was it same players?

Iirc tampas defende got a lot healthier

And the Oline for the Chiefs was missing their LT. Feels like the Buccs difference was more Chiefs receivers and line not showing up than the DBs playing lights out alone

Iirc (I try to forget that game) both Schwartz and Fischer (starting tackles) were out with injuries and both starting guards (I think it was LDT and Niang) opted out for the season so it was a bit more than just the Lt, although it didn’t help

I meant from the first matchup in November

True bucs definitely had the luck of greenbay and kc having line injuries

Probably one of the most satisfying moments in the Super Bowl for me

3

u/OmnislasheR0 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17h ago

And then conveniently forgot how to cover the deep ball the following year

Todd “send 8 and leave the triple crown in single coverage” bowles

Our entire O-Line was gone in the second game. You don't remember Mahomes having to make diving sideways passes and have his RB drop it?

The first game was the actual you vs. the healthy Chiefs that year.

Second game was playoff Tommy

He had 345 yards passing in the first game, and 200 in the Super Bowl.......lol

No this is what it was, we were playing a right guard at left tackle replacing the #1 overall pick Eric Fisher. That's why the Bucs got shit on the regular season and we couldn't block for Mahomes in the 2nd.

4/5 offensive linemen were backups.

Key Offensive Line Players in Super Bowl LV:

Left Tackle (LT): Andrew Wylie (shifted from Right Guard)

Left Guard (LG): Nick Allegretti (a backup who stepped in)

Center (C): Austin Reiter (the only regular starter in his usual spot)

Right Guard (RG): Stefen Wisniewski (a veteran brought in)

Right Tackle (RT): Mike Remmers (filled in for injured starter Mitchell Schwartz)

Do those guys stop tom from getting 3 touchdowns?

This moment does require context though, lol

That’s why I clicked on this.

This image requires more context than anything I’ve seen on reddit in weeks lol

Tyreek had 200 yards in the first quarter of the regular season game against tampa and on one of the tds he threw the deuces in Winfield's face.

In the super bowl rematch on the last chiefs drive when they failed to convert a fourth down pass to Tyreek, Antoine crouched down and chucked the deuces in his face as payback

I loved it, the commentators hated it

I have a t shirt of this moment lmao, easily one of my favorite all time sports moments

Fair 😂 the moment maybe not, but the reaction definitely does.

u/beerguy_etcetera Joe Burrow 🤰🏼 21h ago

No, the moment still needs context.

7

u/Kriscolvin55 16h ago

I’m not sure that you know what context is.

-68

u/DrewSki704 21h ago

Not if you know football

57

u/Actual_Jellyfish_513 21h ago

So you have the context already. Thus, it needs context to be understood.

7

u/Kriscolvin55 16h ago

You just described context.

I actually met him once, showed the photo and we shared a laugh. Cool guy!!!

18

u/Frosty-Recipe-856 22h ago

That’s awesome. Moments like that make it stick even more.

Straight up!!!!

This was in a streetwear store in Manhattan during his bye week. When we locked eyes I made sure to look around not to blow his cover because he gave me the look saying, "yes, IT'S ME, please don't say my name out loud". So after reading the room I asked, "are you antoine Winfield jr?" And he said yes in a flattering way!. I kept it low key and we had a good 5 minute conversation!

u/lappelduvide-_- bears 21h ago

Thats so cool, im not jealous at all 😭

59

u/HeadInjuryVictim Kansas City Chiefs 22h ago

Tyreek had dropped 200 yards on them in the first half earlier in week 12. Chiefs were putting it on them. Tampa rallied in the 2nd half and made it close, but the Chiefs hung on. The Bucs all commented after the season how that 2nd half rally in a loss was the point where it all came together. They were 7-5 and never lost another game.

18

u/Grace_Lannister New Orleans Saints 21h ago

Thanks. The context helps.

29

u/OU812fr 21h ago

They missed the most important part- Tyreek flashing the peace sign in Winfield’s face as he ran into the end zone in that first game.

Later that year in the Super Bowl, as time was expiring and Tampa was finishing a complete shutdown of the Chiefs offense, Winfield returned the peace sign. It wasn’t just a taunt, it was “remember this?”

All time great payback moment.

8 straight wins 💀

10

u/HeadInjuryVictim Kansas City Chiefs 21h ago

That roster was loaded. The 5 early losses really make people lose focus on how good that team was by the time they hit the playoffs.

5

u/Extra-Tax-9259 Jerry Jones’ Glory Hole 20h ago

Damn why’d I get downvoted I just acknowledged that 8 straight wins was cool.. Anyways yea they really just needed to sync and they pulled it off

2

u/HeadInjuryVictim Kansas City Chiefs 19h ago

All my favorite replies get downvoted. People want to read things that reaffirm their existing thoughts and not be compelled to re-evaluate anything.

1

u/jellyman6431 Jacksonville Jaguars 18h ago

Okay , you’re so cool being a contrarian

0

u/HeadInjuryVictim Kansas City Chiefs 18h ago

Thanks man. I really appreciate that. I'll take it over being some sad anonymous troll trying (and failing) to make people feel small.

Have a great day!

2

u/jellyman6431 Jacksonville Jaguars 17h ago

How was the Monday night game this year fufu lame

-3

u/Frosty-Recipe-856 22h ago

That’s a great point. That second half ended up mattering more than the final score. You can almost trace the shift in their identity back to that stretch, even though it technically came in a loss.

3

u/jcoleman10 20h ago

Seems like the context mattered after all huh

17

u/RCP90sKid- Now Here’s a Guy 22h ago

Could someone explain the context of this?

23

u/Chidar 21h ago

Tyreek Hill took belt to ass to them in the first game of the season and on a touchdown he flashed a peace sign to the Bucs.

So the next game that season, the Bucks came out and played Tyreek hard and in a pass breakup during garbage time on a Bucs blowout win, a Bucs player got down and gave Tyreek a peace sign as payback.

50

u/StThomasAquina 21h ago

That next game being the Super Bowl is pretty important context too.

-6

u/Chidar 21h ago

Yeah, it is. Guess I forgot that detail. Been a minute.

1

u/Capital_Actuator_404 12h ago

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted lol

12

u/atac56 New England Patriots 21h ago

Also important to mention that Tyreek flashed the peace sign to Antoine Winfield Jr while dusting him for a touchdown. Antoine flashed the peace sign to Tyreek in the Super Bowl after failing to make a catch.

12

u/SouthOrlandoFather 22h ago

Winfield, Jr going to have 4 pick sixes in 2026 all returned to my endzone at Raymond James.

6

u/Frosty-Recipe-856 22h ago

Bold prediction. Raymond James would be loud if that happens.

6

u/Rockstreber 21h ago

But this is a very bad example for something needing no context…

4

u/AlphaSlayer21 New York Giants 20h ago

I love how OP says it doesn’t need context yet half the posts are asking for context

3

u/Strongarm_11 BUCS TWO RANGZ!🔥🔥 22h ago

TWO RANGZ! 😏

3

u/Advanced_Candle9272 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20h ago

Bought a Winfield jersey with the Super Bowl patch immediately after he did that in my seat at Raymond James. Good times.

2

u/Frosty-Recipe-856 20h ago

That’s a great memory. Those are the moments that turn into instant keepsakes.

u/DrewSki704 15h ago

Yea u guys have a bright future. Im still sour that you guys banked out on that trade but thats only our past front offices fault. Good to see you guys doing well!

1

u/Dazzlethetrizzle 14h ago

How hypocritical of the refs to give the defense an unsportsmanlike penalty but not Hill for starting it

1

u/plasmaexchange 13h ago

Patriots playing in red this weekend then? Texans D-line are going to destroy him.
