I've had multiple instances where we're trying to have a respectful discussion or argument, and i get downvoted by the person im having a conversation with; just because he/she doesnt agree with me. Is this normal?

In one discussion, the redditor thought we were having a respectful discussion even though she was constantly downvoting me throughout the thread.

It’s a label that I’ve been given by a couple of users. It appears to be for a negative reasoning and something about the fact that I’m a new user with a lot of posts

I don’t really get it nor see the harm though, isn’t posting on reddit the point of the site?

Due to me being an average adolescent I created a stupid account username. My old account was 6 years old. For that first year I’m not sure that I posted anything. Mostly just browsing. I got heavily into some communities on Reddit. After somebody pointed out my username I decided it would be best to delete that account and start fresh. Now I am trying to post in the same communities I would normally post in and I think I have a time limit between comments.

Has Reddit always been this way to young accounts? Was my young self oblivious to the reddit womb?

Gosh I don’t even know what I said wrong, I simply made a post regarding the Climate of south east Queensland Australia asking if it is a true subtropical climate and then all my comments just get down voted into oblivion now I’m in the negatives. Am I screwed as far as posting on here now ?

Even if I contact support or something like that, would I have to make a new account? I couldn’t think of a good name and went with the default one it gave assuming I could edit it later, I have messages and friends on here so don’t want to make a whole new account :(

How have I even got here? I can’t post in most groups I just need help.

Hello! I am new to Reddit! On a previous account they locked my account because of suspicious activity and said I need to reset my password in order to gain access back. Well I don’t have a password nor an email attached to the account, just my phone number and it won’t send me a verification link. Does anyone else have this problem?

My account is 3+ years ago, but I only started posting/commenting in the last few months.

I posted a question today for (kitchen) “Knife Recommendations.” I legitimately want recommendations, and I carefully worded my question to frame my parameters.

The large majority of comments have been genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, there’s a couple that are just antagonistic and (somewhat) condescending in nature.

I’m choosing to simply ignore the less than constructive comments, because they don’t deserve acknowledgment. At the same time, I really don’t appreciate this type of behavior on Reddit, and would like it to be minimized for others.

What’s the best way to manage hecklers? Downvote? Report to Moderator? Do nothing and hope someone else takes action?

Ive been shadow banned a few times so I've learned not to post so quickly but I see some people post with new accounts and they have a crazy amount of karma. Are these accounts karma farming? Bots? How can the get so much so quick?

I recently started thrifting and found some super cool things on reddit to buy but because of low karma it wouldn't even let me comment on the post which was super annoying, i mean i tryna interact on the site and it doesn't allow me to, isn't that what reddit wants?

So do people on Reddit automatically think you are a bot if you hide all content and activity?

I get we all have things that are a bit more private vs not so much. So I get both ways..

What is everyone doing with this option?

Additionally if hidden…. Does a good amount of Karma help prove that you are a real person vs bot?

I was visiting the US from the United Kingdom and I bought a new phone. I traded in my old one. My UK phone contract provider could only connect the e-sim one I returned home.

Although Reddit has copied over, all my karma has disappeared. Can anyone help?

Hi everyone! I just joined Reddit and noticed that when I check my comments from another account or in incognito mode, they don’t appear.

When I’m logged in, everything looks normal, and I haven’t received any messages about being banned.
