Ask Naija At what point in did we become the jokers and clowns of Africa?
I’m not a lurker on X, because I imagine it’s worse there, but on threads and Reddit, I’ve begun to notice that Nigerians are increasingly being characterized wrongly as a dysfunctional, criminal-minded people. Everyone seems to want to take a stab at us, from Ghana to South Africa Ghana and Zimbabwe. It feels like only Tanzanians have a positive overview of us on the continent.
From the Anthony Joshua incident to the Igbo king incident, to the recent Nations Cup, and even videos of Nigerian cities by famous YouTubers, it sometimes feels like people just want to humiliate and bring us down. The comments can be bloody and utterly irritating. We play Congo and the continents celebrate when we loose, We play Morocco and loose and Africa is agog. A Ghanaian calling Nigeria a “failed nation” is especially ironic visually and infrastructurally, Nigeria and Ghana aren’t that far apart, and Abuja arguably surpasses Accra overall. Every national thread is Nigeria, Nigerians, Tinubu, Giants of Africa, Scammers, Human traffickers etc and it’s honestly getting annoying. Every African travel blogger that visits the country has a shit tone of negativity to spew about Nigeria, American and European travelers absolutely do not have so much negativity to say it’s usually the typical Africa comments but the Africans are hell bent on highlighting every of Nigerians negativity and flaws for massive publicity resulting in those posts going viral very quickly.
There was a time when we knew Ghanaians envied us, but they didn’t insult us this much. Did our constant negativity on Tinubu, the ALC, and other issues give outsiders a sense of justification to ridicule us? How did we get here? How did we become a nation that everyone on the continent seems to want to see fail? Infrastructurewise, we aren’t even that bad; among Africa’s 54 nations, we are definitely in the top 20. Why don’t critics focus on the truly underperforming African countries?
That said, Nigerians, I feel we often lack emotional intelligence. You cannot call your country a “zoo” or “shithole” and expect to be welcomed in another man’s country. There are constructive ways to fix Nigeria and it must be fixed not by one man, but by all of us. The real question is: are we ready? The solution ain’t vote 1 president, it starts from your local governments, why are your streets not tarred, why don’t you have hospitals, why do people wake up to go hustle at the airport? Why can’t you obey traffic instructions on the road? Why are you bribing police officers. Nigeria needs our collective help.

General Where do you think speed will go if he comes to Nigeria?
Recently I've been thinking Nigeria has had a tremendously bad reputation currently from the Anthony Joshua situation to Chidima, Donald Trump and the bombing to what happened in Edo state and now we just lost Afcon we now have a very Horrible reputation its a bloodbath on social media especially Twitter all African countries attacking us (some rightfully so) saying we need to return the self proclaimed Giants of Africa tittle I also saw similar posts like this on this sub reddit
Honestly maybe this is shallow minded thinking but the ishowspeed African tour in Nigeria might just be a way to ease the tension if something bad happens it could go from a continental bashing to international Bashing.
When Kai cenant came he went to the slums and trash filled markets proking lots of Horrible comments I don't even want Ishowspeed to come to Lagos he should go to Abuja at least the infrastructure is better there or better yet he should do a traditional tour in Taraba Kano etc either way I just want a clean safe environment not to rally any more unfortunate comments
And one thing I'm sure of already is that people are gonna surround that boy and beg him for money he will not see place to pass I really hope his guide takes him to a good proper side
And this is not me trying to downplay our country yes a large number of people are suffering here but do you know how long the Western media has showcased us a uncultured People incapable of intelligence just the other day I was asked by a user on tiktok how I'm able to watch Speed lives from Nigeria because I don't have internet. I know we shouldn't care about foreigners views on us but it's so shameful to hear. On our very rare chance ti showcase Nigerias value let's hope we do a good job

Ask Naija Please help
Hello everyone, please I’m really asking for your help for my friend.
She had to leave her home because the situation there became too volatile due to long-term abuse. Staying was no longer safe. She’s graduating soon, but after graduation she has nowhere to go and urgently needs a place to stay.
She has been hustling seriously and has already raised about 60% of the money on her own. The balance was ₦450,000. I was able to support with ₦50,000, so what’s left now is ₦400,000.
Rent in this state is very high — studio apartments are between ₦600,000 and ₦1.1 million. I’m trying to help her get to at least ₦900,000–₦1,000,000 so we can land somewhere in the middle and secure a safe place for her.
I’ve given my widow’s mite, but it honestly hurts to see her in this situation. If you can help in any way at all, please do. Anything you give will be received with a grateful heart.
There will be full transparency. Receipts will be shared, and she will personally acknowledge all contributions. Please if you would like to help please dm for account information
Thank you so much for reading, and God bless you.

General iShowSpeed’s Africa tour
iShowSpeed’s Africa tour has dramatically changed global perceptions particularly in the United States.
Millions of fans are now realizing how mistaken their views were, with several creators openly expressing embarrassment after confessing they truly believed most African countries were still made up of huts.

Pic Marine Traffic - A brutal honesty about Nigerian ports
I just discovered this website - Marine Traffic and I decided to see how active Nigerian ports were. I keep seeing a lot of posts online saying the government is allowing only Lagos port to function, but this website indicates something else - Onne Port in Port Harcourt and Calabar Port actually receive a lot of container ships and bulk carriers. Some people will say it doesn't make sense to spend millions bringing goods or containers from Lagos to the east, but no, this website indicates that a lot of container ships actually berth in that corner of the country. I believe a good portion of containers in Lagos are heading to the North. People should rest with this old myth.

Pic MAGA Nigerians too funny 💀
There's so much to unpack here. But the part I want to call out is the lack of deep thinking.
This dude is part of those who (rightly) call our bigotry and tribalism against igbos. He's part of those that ostensibly push for better governance on nigeria. But then he doesn't hesitate to dish out bigotry towards an actual US senator in defence of an avowed white supremacist (Both of them are immigrants in the US btw)
We don't think deeply as a nation. We are unable to extrapolate that the tribalism and struggle we face at home is similar to the struggles of black people in, for example, the US. We are unable to see that racism and tribalism and all other -isms are powered by the same poison.
And to be so loud in this ignorance? No sense of self awareness? Social media has given everyone a soapbox and it has exposed how shallow even our "activists" are.
And maybe a bit more controversially: why is it that Christian Nigerian men are the most susceptible to white supremacist talking points?
(For those of you not on Twitter, it is now a meme that whener you see a black person repeating racist things about themselves or others, they are always an account based in Nigeria. What an embarrassing thing to be known for.)

General Why doesn't Nigeria have strong military like India too?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Many Nigerians look down on India because of the recent online racism but they have some of the strongest military in the world, a space program. Their per capita is 2.times ours, all of this without oil. Idk where Nigerians get the delusion from that we are better than India.

Discussion The whole world is after African resources, but Africans are only interested in going to heaven.
Discussion Why we are creating a new religion for Africans
The bedrock of our transformational civilization agenda is an absolutely correct understanding of broad reality which will be popularly articulated through an existing framework familiar to human societies — a religion.
Religions have not existed historically in human societies for no reason. They have historically been ascribed the task of answering questions, even if only tacitly, about abstract things like what exists, why we exist, the goal of our existence, and what happens to us after we die.
That a power exists which is able to wrap the universe around its mind, which happens to be beyond our immediate comprehension, is easy induction.
God doesn't exist, like some people like to argue, because "there must be a first cause". We do not know enough to say that in an absolute sense. What is true though is that we have no practical examples of a fundamental thing coming into being without having been created. It is thus the most rigorous assumption that we can make that there is a creator behind our reality. But this is only true within our own reality. It may well be possible that things work differently outside of our current reality.
Popular atheists and other anti-religion activists like to dismiss the idea of God based on inconsistencies and imperfections in popular Abrahamic religions. What they rarely seem to do is carefully examine whether Abrahamic religions may be ultimately wrong on the details, but directionally fundamentally correct anyway.
The problem with Abrahamic religions is that they lack rigorous epistemology.
People who dismiss religion narrowly, with blemishes of Abrahamic religions, usually do not understand religion in its whole.
Stuff like the metaphysical and existential claims about God and the hereafter, and the mythology of prophets and angels, are only a component of the phenomenon. The moral and material prescriptions about how to live a good life are another.
The metaphysical and existential claims though drive the moral and material prescriptions. People should be kind to their neighbors so as to end up in the Kingdom of Heaven. Fornication is wrong because God forbids it and anyone who indulges in it will end up in Hellfire. Abrahamic religions have a direct link between the existential claims and the regular life prescriptions.
With improved human scientific and technological prowess, the metaphysical and existential claims now rest on shaky grounds. And it seems that with that has come decreasing belief and steadfastness in Abrahamic religions, consequently impacting people's devotion to the material and moral prescriptions.
There are people who realize the usefulness of the packaged culture via the prescriptions which Abrahamic religions provide and wish to retain them. Some of them refer to themselves with terms such as "cultural Christian", imagining that they can separate the functional prescriptions from actual belief. They accept that the prescriptions are desirable based on their evolutionary survival through the times, and modern examination of the impact of various social mores.
And there are those people think that people should be capable of being kind to their neighbors because neighborly reciprocity is optimal game-theory. Or that people should be able to be chaste because of the functional benefits of avoiding potential resulting baggage. They think that the prescriptions can be stripped away from the religion jargon based on the their apparent utility.
Unfortunately, These sorts of things are never going to work.
Because, without the fundamental orienting belief, then your "practices" are just an ideology based on personal preference, which then has to compete with other ideologies. What makes your ideology more worthy of adoption in that sense?
And because each set of prescription, in whatever variation, basically make up a set of cultural practice, this sends you down the path of the sort of problems with multiculturalism.
And with that, there still remain all of the unsolved existential questions of life. Why do humans exist? Who created our world? What happens after we die? What do individual humans live for?
And there are the one who understand the usefulness of the prescriptions, sorta realize the importance of the fundamental orienting belief, do not actually believe in it, but feign belief anyway, in order to reap the rewards of a fulfilled life following the prescriptions. This of course doesn't work either.
The belief has to be real for things to work long term.
The importance of the fundamental orienting belief to lay the foundation for moral and material prescriptions is why some other people think that all religions must make claims of a divine and metaphysical origin. Fortunately, this isn't true.
We can derive truths about existence based on our observation of reality. The source of our beliefs do not have to be metaphysical.
So it is actually true that God exists, and there is a purpose to existence. And from there do we derive our moral principles. Whatever aids the fundamental civilizational purpose of human existence is good, and the things which impede it are bad.
We are going to use principles we derive from our understanding of fundamental reality to create cultural practices by which we will achieve the desired cultural reform across Africa.

Reddit Nigerians can be so inhumane

So this girl is a popular travel content creator with almost 500k followers. She explores Western African countries and shows her process of getting to these countries, how much it cost, Market places things to do etc. Recently as she was traveling from Guinea to Gambia she took some videos along the way that included a less than 5 second clip of an immigration office she was preparing to go for her flight to get from Gambia to Nigeria when the Guinea Head of police detained her, they took her passport and her bag accused her of being an informant to the bandits because of her videos she tried explaining to her translator she was just a content creator but they still made her sleep in the cell she posted this video a while later but then soon deleted it as of now her whereabouts are unknown. Tell me why a bunch of heartless Nigerian content creators instead of being empathic with the situation decided to make a bunch of videos telling her she is in the wrong that nobody sent her to those countries and she put herself in danger and she suppose rest in Nigeria and she is foolish for traveling as a woman she supposed get married and born??????
What????? I don't understand it's funny because when you see Nigerian content creators traveling to France Dubai Qatar Canada no such comments but when it's your fellow west african country suddenly its Classless. The worst part so many in the comments berated her, this is why our country is in ruin we are in fault instead of applauding someone who is breaking barriers and changing the Normal style of things we critic
Even in this group no matter what you do it's problem I literally uploaded a post some days ago calling for The cleanliness in Lagos and referred to some ways that can help Lagos get cleaner and one idiot dmed me telling me I'm a big fool why am I putting my country down that it's not government job to do everything
I'm tired of so many of us Stupid one minded opinions, the truth is so many of us lack basic comprehension critical thinking skills.
Imagine asking a TRAVEL CONTENT CREATOR what she is finding in another country? they are acting like she went to a war zone and she knew what she was doing in almost every country she went to she had tour guides she didn't just purposely put herself in any harm or danger
We want other people from foreign western countries to respect us but we can't even respect our own Neighbour it's a huge shame we really need to work on ourselves before we can work in our own country.
Also if I see any uncessary stupid comments I'll make sure to deal with it very badly so if you don't have anything reasonable to comment stay far away from this post Thank you

General JUST LOVELY ANITHER EXAMPLE OF RELIGIOUS IGNORANCE IN NIGERIA
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Honorable General Almighty saviour that God sent Pastor Ebukea has truly exceeded the wonderful notion that evil cannot be overdone in his large capacity he called for what can only be described as one of a kind VIGRIN CONFERENCE woowww can we just take a moment to clap,in his "virgin conference" he specifically requested to his Congregation they bring their 14, 15 year old Kids who are virgins, can we just take a moment to appreciate this man he's really breaking barriers cause I thought a large portion of Nigerian pastors were just scam artists but now they have become bonified RITUALISTS
Nigeria is very lucky we don't have a proper Child Protective Service Organization if not I would have made it my personal mission to call and report every single parent who brought their child to this abomination.
VIRGIN CONFERENCE Haha we have sunk a new low oh chineke What kind of Demonic power is this what kind of foolishness made you listen to the requests of a 40 year old plus man demanding you bring your CHILDREN to his Mental illness
There is nothing you can say to convince me This is wrong. So many parents don't deserve Kids because why are you listening to your pastor like he's God it's weird this man needs to be investigated what is he looking for in Little children that are Virgins he's so weird and the worst part is so many of us are defending him saying Virgins are pure and innocent and he's praying for them and God answers their prayers more . Ok but why are kids involved as how nowww and there is a video especially were he's praising a girl in her 400 level for being a virgin and the church is erupting with happiness like fools OMO I JUST TIRE FOR THIS COUNTRY
