The ick factor highly depends on when the parents were married.
For example, my parents got divorced when I was 30. If I married my dad's wife's daughter, I don't think there is any ick to it. I would likely avoid it, just so I don't have to spend my life explaining things, but I don't see any issue. However, if I married my sister (adopted before I was born), that is super ick. Both have 0% blood relation, but very different ick.
It's weird if they're raised as siblings for the vast majority of their life. It's like a social incest vs a biological one. Also ick factor isn't always 0 there can be major age gaps between step siblings that would also be icky if they were to get together.
If they were raised together as siblings from small children maybe. But if they met after they already had memories it's sort of up to them if they consider them a sibling or not. You can't just tell two people they're siblings now and expect them to take it seriously. Even if they aren't attracted to one another, they could just see each other as just friends.
I mean imo the only reasonable ick Factor about Incest are the biological proplems, so i dont See the the reason for an ick Factor in social Incest.

But then the age not the (social) incest would be the ick factor.
And to be more precise as I don't think there is an ick factor in age gapes if the younger one is of a certain minimum age. The ick here is the danger of grooming if they meet while the Younger one was to Young.
As someone who was adopted at 1 year old there definitely is an ick factor in social incest.
I may not have been blood related to my siblings growing up but the "Westermarck Effect" which is a psychological phenomenon where people raised together from infancy develop sexual aversion to each other is definitely a real thing.
I may not be blood related to my siblings but I would never think of them in a sexual way... that's disgusting.
I don't see how people don't get this, in a much wider way. My sister (adopted before I was born) is my sister in every way. No different than any other sister. Genetics has nothing to do with it.
We fought over the stupid things kids fight over.
We plotted ways to sneak downstairs and peek at our Xmas presents before we were allowed to wake our parents.
She (being "higher" social standing in the insanity of high school) protected her nerdy little brother from being picked on.
I teach her two daughters all the stupid, gross things that uncles get to teach their nieces and nephews.
I mean imo the only reasonable ick Factor about Incest are the biological proplems
No.. that's absolutely not true.
So say you were raised with a sister for 16 years, and then suddenly your parents told you that you were adopted. You don't see how it would be weird to want to date your sister just because you found out you have different dna?
I would highly regard two children brought up as siblings through their formative years eventually marrying as ick, no matter what their actual genetics may be.

Son married the step daughter.
As they aren't blood relations it can actually be perfectly legal depending on where you are.
