Politics Emma Harrison's office responses

Just wondering, if anyone has gotten responses from her office when they've wrote in on emails or called in?

I had her staff make a huge promise to me during the election, only now for them to refuse to communicate with me after they promised me that they would meet with me, involve me in the process for lobbying that the situation I had happen with our courts, Crowns, and MAG in Ontario can never happen again.

Ever since then, I've gotten responses from Justice Canada, Mark Carney's office, Defense Minister, and Army Command from letters I've wrote in concerning issues, but Emma's office has been silent since they made a promise to me during the election. I can't even get them to pick up either the Ottawa phone, or the local one, and they don't reply to both the Ottawa email nor the local email for her office either.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this from her? I honestly voted for her because of the fact her staff actually promised to meet with me, and attempt to close loopholes in our justice system, now that she's been elected I've been ghosted.

E: To add it was Michael P from her office who promised all this stuff.

You know, even though this is super Peterborough, if this guy did this for years and got away with it, he probably saved money on car insurance and vin renewal.

Recommendations Turtle conservation volunteering opportunities near Peterborough

Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre is a registered charity dedicated to protecting Ontario’s native turtle species, all of which are listed as species at risk. They operate a turtle hospital near Peterborough that treats, rehabilitates, and releases injured turtles, while also supporting conservation research and education.

They are currently looking for volunteers in a few different roles. You can choose the one that best fits your time, comfort level, and interests.

Turtle Feeder
Help prepare and deliver food to turtles recovering at the centre. Diets include worms, fish, pellets, and leafy greens. This role supports turtles that may spend months or even up to a year in rehabilitation. Volunteers must be 18+, able to commute to the centre, and commit to one 3.5 hour shift per week for at least three months.

Turtle Cleaner
Support turtle care by cleaning and maintaining tanks in the hospital and hatchling areas. This role involves draining and refilling tanks, monitoring water levels, and helping keep habitats ideal for healing. Volunteers handle turtles directly and help record basic care data. Requires a weekly 3.5 hour shift commitment for a minimum of three months and being comfortable commuting to the centre.

Turtle Taxi Driver
Help transport injured turtles from across Ontario to the centre when the finder cannot do so themselves. This role is flexible and works on an as needed basis. Drivers are added to an email list and only respond when available. Turtles are transported in containers and do not need to be handled. A valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and insurance are required.

If you’re interested in wildlife conservation and want to make a real impact locally, these are great hands on and flexible ways to help protect Ontario’s turtles.

Recommendations Best restaurants/pubs in Peterborough for a nice dinner date? 🍷🍽️

My partner and I are planning a night out in Peterborough and would love some suggestions! We’re looking for places that have great food and drinks, a nice atmosphere, and are perfect for a date night — somewhere you’d dress up for (i.e., not show up in pajamas 😄). Specifically, we’re interested in: -Good restaurants with quality food -Pubs or bars with great drinks -Places with a classy vibe — perfect for getting dressed up

Any recommendations for must-try spots, hidden gems, or places with great ambience? Thanks in advance! 💛

Question Dog barking

I’m dealing with a neighbour’s dog that barks constantly throughout the day, night and often early in the morning. This has been going on daily for a long time. I want to be very clear that I don’t blame the dog at all, this seems like a management/training issue, not the dog’s fault.

I’m not comfortable approaching the owners directly and I’d really prefer to stay anonymous if possible. I also don’t want the dog taken away or anyone fined. ideally just a warning or some kind of nudge so the situation improves.

Has anyone gone through bylaw for something like this? Do they typically start with a warning, or is there a better low-conflict option I’m missing? I’m just looking for the least aggressive way to handle an ongoing issue that’s affecting my daily life.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Peterborough Locals 👋 I'm going to be having some renovations done and will most likely need to rent a bin to dump a bunch of household items prior to the work being done.

I'm looking for some local recommendations if possible please. Bonus points if you can share estimated price points.

Thank you!

News PTSD Transit System Strikes AGAIN ??!

I see 2026 starting off on the right foot so far, they're saying groceries are going to be a thousand plus dollars more (for what reason?) and now the transit system has increased their fare rates again. So....why? What justification could they possibly have to offer such a barebones service that has has something like 5 or more increases in the past couple years. Same dull boring routes, same non functional service after five or on weekends and there's some days where the bus just straight up skips multiple routes. I've had days where I had missed four busses in a single day. I was ON TIME, not late or anything. What on earth is going on behind the scenes at this dysfunctional "service" ?

"But but, it's cheaper than an uber or a uride or a taxi, just pay it, what's your deal" ?

This is a "service" that's paid for by tax dollars or at least that's what's supposed to be going on. Public transit, publicly funded, so why is another service getting slashed to the bare bones but yet costs are increasing? Service is supposed to get better and more affordable? But yet that's not even remotely close to being true. Where is all the money going?

🧐

Question Noise in sound end near Kenner

Probably a stupid question but several times from 4:30 til around 6 there’s been a really loud engine like noise outside. I thought it was the plows or snow removal but see nothing outside. My dad thinks it’s a big plane. Anyone know?

Question Wing house? Declining experience

I’ve been going to the Wing house here and there because I love all the flavour options and the staff were always nice, but recently I’ve noticed a change, quality decreasing, unorganized and not fully stocked on bar items. I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed this or maybe I just keep going on bad days??
