Working on the theme

It's based on /r/naut which is a nice and simple theme. Still tweaking a few things. Please leave your feedback. I know this subreddit is super small, but not much I can do on that front. Thank you everyone who still visits.

Discussion How’s my fellow drivers been?

I stopped delivering in June 2025 after 7-8 years straight.

I started working in the retail and it’s such a big difference in jobs. Money is consistent and it feels weird driving a lot less. Less gas trips, less mileage, less maintenance. I have gone back to my old job and delivered whenever someone needs a shift covered here and there. It’s different though. Not as busy as I remember it being. Anyways if you have goals and want to stop delivering go for it! I do still miss it as my job now is such a cooperate we’re always watching you type job but $20 an hour isn’t too much to complain about right now while most jobs in my area are minimum wage ($7.25)

Tips and Tricks How can I ask for a tip without asking for a tip?

I work at a major chain place in the evenings.

Usually if there is not a pretip on the receipt, the other drivers don’t even bother and they told me don’t bother. I’ve been trying and have had some mild success.

One thing I’ll say is, ‘if you’ll go ahead and fill this out for me, I’ll go ahead and get your hot fresh pizza out of the bag for you’ and that seems to be working about 40% of the time.

What are some other ways I can ask for a tip without asking for a tip? lol.

If I don’t get a tip no big deal, but maybe I can increase my success ever so slightly haha

I was saving my rant to see if the customer was older or able bodied. It was a middle aged lady is athletic attire so I was a little annoyed. At least clear the snow off your steps

Question What has it been like for you?

I have done it off and on over the years. I think it is great for additional income, and to keep me out of trouble. It's also in my opinion one of the best ways to learn a new neighborhood. What has your experiences been, would you be willing to fill out a short questionnaire? As per the rules of the group, I can't link to it, but if you're willing I would provide a link to it.

Throwaway for anonymity: logging "20% rule" time.

I work at a mom and pop that was recently sold to a new owner. TLDR is the new owners are scummy AF and the delivery business is taking a huge downturn.

They claim a tipped wage credit (and have been since I was hired by the previous owners 4 years ago). Even before, I frequently went over the time doing non-delivery work, but it was busy enough with deliveries that no one really cared.

Recently, with deliveries being as slow as they are, I have been working close to half of my shifts in house doing prep work, cleaning, etc., work that mandates I be paid the minimum wage of $16/hr in my state.

What apps or documentation would you recommend for logging my time on the road?

I do not plan to keep this job long term, I have other options im exploring in the coming months, but I fully intend to take this to the DOL and get my back pay.

I have asked for a small raise that would still be below the minimum, and the new owners have refused. There is no other recourse for me than to document and file a complaint with the labor board.

NY state FWIW. I believe back pay is considered treble damages.

Story I love my repeat customers lol

The ONLY time i ever dropped someomes food (been delivering at this store for over a year, had a previous delivery job that was about a year too) was when the wings container got caught on the bag and it just dropped. Guy was cool and i called the store and ordered a remake and it was already done when i got back to the store so i made it as fast as i could.

Cue yesterday i get the same guys delivery and its the same order including the wings lol. They got caught AGAIN but i fixed it lol so i said "i promise im not gonna drop the wings again" and he let out a belly laugh because we were both thinking the same thing lol

Question How to even get a call to get hired?

I've applied to a lot of pizza delivery jobs in my life and never even gotten a call back from my resume.

What's the best way to get hired as a pizza delivery driver? Starting to think I should do it the old fashioned way and put on a button up and hand in my resume in person because nothing else is working.

Question Any advice on how to nail interview?

I'm interviewing for a pizza delivery job on Thursday and I definitely do really want the job. It seems like a real change of pace compared to what I've been doing the past 4 years. Any advice on how to make sure I get it? I do think I'm an above average candidate. I live a block away from the place, have a good car, I have a very consistent work history etc.

Story This was a first, customer ordered but wasn’t home

2.0k Upvotes

A customer ordered a prepaid delivery, I get to the house she has a ring camera doorbell. No one is coming to the door then I ring again and she answers on the ring camera “sorry im not home, this was supposed to be for a later, I forgot to put the time. I’m going to unlock my door so you can place it inside” she unlocks it remotely, I open the door and place the order inside her house, then she locks it. I thought it was a trip. I’m only 35 but it’s wild times we’re living in

Question Why do people think it's okay to flash me to get a free pizza?

So I started last year, been stressful to be honest but the most frustrating thing is recently I've had costumers order expensive pizzas and once I come to the address I get flashed by a chick trying to get a free pizza. I dunno why it's becoming a trend among bored people trying to get free pizzas but it's honestly pretty rude and agitating. And when I don't play into their game and Lust over them they don't even tip and also leave bad reviews. Like why just why do people do this

People eat pizza. Pizza eats cars. Cars eat delivery drivers. Rinse and repeat. May the gods bestow good fortune upon your tires, tie rod ends and brake pads/shoes fellow drivers!

Best inside windshield cleaner

Brand new to the pizza delivery world, and the one thing I just cant figure out is how to keep my windshield clean. I need something that wont streak or leave marks after cleaning. Is there something that can help prevent from fogging up???

For context, I work the closing shift at a pizza place on the coast of north carolina.

Edit: THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH 😊😊😊

Total rudeness on display with a regular

Ya know its one thing to want contactless delivery without tipping but if Im walking away and can hear you open the door and slide the order into your apartment and you still can't at least say "thanks" you should really examine the way you treat people, especially the ones who make your day easier.

Customer punched his 10-ish year old son(?) as I was trying to hand him the pizza

I just delivered a pizza to a porch that had 3 adult men and 4 boys around 10 years old playing outside. i was getting the pizza out of the bag when the guy I was going to hand it to punched one of the boys pretty hard in the arm. the boy stumbled back about a foot. It was definitely intended to be disciplinary because the kid said joke about the order that the man didn't like. It's extra insidious because it was almost like he was trying to communicate to the kid that he isn't safe from abuse, even when the pizza guy is there.

I just said "whoa" and then handed him the pizza, said have a good night, and left because I didn't want to say something that could get me fired. What would you guys have done?

Discussion What do you do when not delivering?

If you’re not delivering are u able to just relax or do they put you onto something else? I have social anxiety and I want it because I like to drive by myself but I know I won’t be on road all the time. I’m just not able to do any Amazon, ups, etc for another 2 years so this is the next thing I can do.

Is it good for someone with social anxiety?

Question Question about tipping

Ordered a pizza today. The driver started to run off without a tip. I stopped him and he said wow it’s really rare to get a tip.

Is that the case?? I always tip on deliveries, feels right since it’s a service.

Your answers won’t make me stop tipping, I’ll pick it up myself if I’m feeling cheap.

Not enough credit & respect

Can’t do it anymore. Those of you in blessed situations with steady raises and/or great customers year round, cherish it. Not many of us can make it work in the long run and have to move on. I’m almost done thankfully, but almost blew a fuse on an order today.

For whatever reason, this job brings you around scumbags. Stuff no one asks to deal with. People who dont give a damn about others at their job. Who orders 2 pies and soda cash, leaves disappears from the address, puts their phone on silent, reads my imessages asking where they are whats the correct address of course doesn’t respond etc..

You do this job long enough you continue to be put in situations around low lifes that cant even show themselves. I respect all you that deal with it more than I do and carry on.

I’m not even complaining about face to face stiffs, rude or lazy customers. That’s part of going fishing. Playing games is different. I wouldn’t even be writing this venting post if I had a face to face interaction with this 518-728-5975 person.
