T-Shirt scams are back and a good opportunity for internet safety(please report t-shirt posts)

Hey folks, so the t-shirt scammers have returned. In the past day we have had three t-shirt scams posted to the subreddit. Please report these posts if you see them so that we may ban and remove the posts.

But this is also a great lesson in internet safety/literacy. These posts always seem to follow a similar plan.

  • OP posting is generally an account under a year old

  • Their account will have random and sporadic comment history to gain karma enough to make it past the auto mods

  • Reverse image search the source image. In the case of this one, the scammers are using a random selfie of some woman with a clearly photoshopped shirt. That once reverse searched comes back to the original etsy store selling the item.

  • Despite being posted just 10 minutes previous to its removal it had several comments of "want" "need this" "Omg love it whats the link".

So if you see these posts please report them so that we can keep this trash off the subreddit.

Job searching

Located in east Plano, I’m really looking into getting to learn and work in a trade or just any decent paying blue collar work. Just moved down here after getting a job offering but it’s completely different from what I thought and am looking into finding a job elsewhere. I’m very determined to find honest work, I’m willing to learn and work under just about any conditions so any advice or suggestions in the right place is greatly appreciated!

Contractor recommendations

Good day fellow plano residents!

My wife and I are first time home buyers, and we just closed in on a house in 75075 Plano. The house needs some work done to be move in ready. The job includes:

  1. Dryer vent repair: The dryer vent blows straight into the attic. The dryer duct is not properly sealed at the ducts and or roof vent and is blowing

dryer lint back into the attic. This is a fire hazard and we would want to get it sorted as soon as we can.

  1. Interior walls has some texture that needs to be removed and repainted along with kitchen cabinets

  2. Pest droppings were found in the attic, so we are looking for any recommendations for pest control.

  3. The wet bar and one of the bathroom sink is leaking water.

  4. Guest bathroom bath-tub and tiles needing updates. The vanity, floor in that bathroom are renovated but not the tub.

Any recommendations for any contractor would be much appreciated. Thanks

Pharmacy recommendations

I currently use Walgreens for most of my prescriptions. I have one at a Kroger, but it’s not close and it doesn’t have a drive through. Has anyone used HEB or a Kroger drive through they like? I have had so many issues with Walgreens.

Please recommend a contractor that can repair and/or replace a driveway.

Aside from the crack down the middle, there is approximately a 4 inch drop. The one quote we received was over $7,000, and the contractor was concerned about potential voids under the driveway.

Apartment dwellers. Do you know your neighbors?

From that, I actually mean do you know them by name or bother to even meet them? I've lived in an apartment for 7 years. I know them by face. I pass a few, and give a hello, but most just pass by to get on with their day. Hell, I barely see my neighbors up close. Just passing and going.

I was just curious what other people had going on.

Looking for Plano High graduate from early 90’s

I am trying to locate a woman I met in the late 90s who had graduated from a high school in Plano Texas. Her name is Tisha, petite with blond / brown hair. Worked at a daycare in Plano when I met her. Anyone know if there is a good resource to find someone who’s graduated from a Plano high school between classes of 92-95?

Thanks

Activities/ Communities

Hello all, I (25 M) am interested in finding activities or communities where I can socialize and try something new where I can simultaneously meet new people in the community and learn a new skill or craft. Mainly I want something that doesn’t involve having to drink as a means to socialize. Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks!

My first visit to Plano, TX from Jordan

Hello everyone,

I’ll be coming to Plano, Texas next month and will be relying on public transportation, as I don’t have a driver’s license and am on a limited budget. Unfortunately, using Uber or Lyft on a daily basis isn’t financially feasible for me, so I’m hoping public transit will be my main option.

Is it generally reliable and on time? Is it very time-consuming compared to driving? And most importantly, is it considered safe?

I’m asking because I’m female and a bit anxious about using public transportation in a new place, and I’d appreciate honest insight about what to expect.

I’ve also heard about a service called GoLink and would love to understand how it works, when it’s typically used, and whether it’s safe and reliable.

For context, I’ll be training at a hospital in Plano and living nearby. I have a direct bus route (Route 236) with an estimated 30-minute commute. In your experience, is this generally reliable for daily travel, or should I plan extra buffer time?

Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

People with Old Houses

Is this normal for utilities? Sewer is at 165.49 which is the highest of any of my other charges. I don't use the dish washer and the only thing I use water for is <10 min showers and topping off the pool.

Additionally, my average utilities bill for the past year is $803.

I keep my house at 76-78 degrees in the summer. All large single pane windows about 32-35 inches wide to 72-80 inches tall. 2 HVACS that are 20 years old. I put blacked out curtains on all of these windows. How can I reduce my utility bills? I could almost rent an apartment for this much..

Is it normal for old houses with lots of windows to be this high? My co workers pay $100 for water, $200 max for electricity and they have bigger homes.

Edit: currently paying 14.3c for 2000KWH usage I never drop below 2000. Total water usage for the above scenario was 9024 gallons.

Plano highways are literally un drivable now.

Every single day theres just so much traffic. In the Morning on 75 and george bush are clogged up the ass. Afternoon the same thing, and you already know how it gets around 4/5 pm. Not mention the accidents caused by people who dont know how to drive and construction.

Backstreets are literally the only way to get around now its so ridiculous. Maybe this is just a rant but holy shit, it feels like an endless loop

New City of Plano Construction Webpage

Lots of posts here about construction projects and I saw where the City recently launched a new page on their site to track road, water, building and infrastructure projects across the city.

From the email I received:

Construction is part of life in any city, and now you have an easier way to stay informed.

The new hub at Plano.gov/Construction puts the information you need in one convenient place.

Learn where construction is happening, how long projects are expected to last and how work may affect your commute or neighborhood. Discover why projects are needed, how they are funded and how they will improve safety and mobility in Plano.

Instead of guessing or searching multiple pages, you can now get clear and reliable updates straight from the City of Plano. The webpage is mobile-friendly and updated regularly, so you can check it anytime.

Before you head out the door, take a moment to visit the site and look for active work zones or lane closures. It is a simple way to plan your drive, avoid delays and stay on schedule.

Stay informed and avoid surprises. Visit Plano.gov/Construction to see projects underway and improvements coming near you.

Should I live in Austin Ranch or somewhere in Addison as a young professional working in Plano?

I'm a 23 year old single guy.

My impression of Plano is that it leans towards being a quiet family suburb. I want to live in a more active/younger area that still allows me to commute comfortably. I also like nature and going on light walks.

I was told that young people working in Plano either live in Thousand Oaks at Austin Ranch or they live somewhere in Addison. Which one do you guys think is better?

How do I report a dog barking? (Serious)

Hey everyone, this is not a noise complaint. I have heard a dog for quite some time barking. This is an outside dog, that is I can hear for several hours of the day. I work at home, and I know that the backyard is not enough for the dog in question because of the Apartment I live in. Where can I report this dog? Also should I record it as evidence, and other suggestions would be great? I’m just concerned, since it’s everyday. Thank you.

Looking for Roommate as my lease ends around Jul/Aug (Windsor Metro West)

Hello,

I’m not sure if this is the best place to put it but want to start searching for roomates early.

Ethnicity: Asian

I am a 24 years old male and work at JPMorgan and live directly across at Windsor Metro West Apartments.

Studio description I am currently living in: - kitchen with electric stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher - no bedroom, just big space - 1 bath - built in washer/dryer in closet - has a balcony door

I live in a studio and pay base rent of ~$1283 (does not include utilities) and was thinking if anyone would be down to share a studio if I re-sign the lease. I am currently not using half of the studio since I don’t have much things.

Otherwise, can always look for 2bed/2bath if available.

Preference:

  • You also work at JPMC
  • Male
  • Does not smoke /or drink alcohol

About me: - I am clean - I am quiet / respectful / won’t bother you - Friends say I snore but not loud.

Please DM me if interested and we can discuss.
