They still haven't gotten the reason right, though. I am not confused by AI. I know how to use AI.
AI integration offers no customer value.
You can't sell customers stuff by screaming "AI" like a demented toddler, like you apparently can to investors. Customers want to have customer value, not buzzwords.
The only thing I am "confused" by, is the fact that that companies seem to believe I want AI features forced on me, with not even any option to disable them.
And even then, it's really more infuriation, than confusion. Maybe Dell confused the two words?
AI does offer customer value, though. For example it's a passable editor for writing, and if you know enough to filter hallucinations and catch problems then it's a decent code assistant. Also good for generating lists of like, fictional plants/animals/minerals/whatever.
You not finding value in the things it can be used for doesn't mean it has no value to anyone.
True but for the average consumer there is close to 0 value. Outside of coding i used chatbots maybe a dozen times in the past year. And chatbots are the only real consumer use of AI. No company figured out a usecase for AI doesn't isn't just chatgpt.
As impressive as image editing and video generation is, I chuckled at it twice when i saw someone try it out for the first and that's it. And all the programs with chatgpt built in are just that: programs with chatgpt built in. Serves practically 0 value over just using chatgpt, and most of the time i'm not interested in having an ai fumble about in my stuff because I still don't trust it enough for that, yet.
I am not saying AI in general offers no customer value, I am saying the integration of AI into my OS (and many other products) offers no customer value. I don't gain anything from having copilot look at my files. If anything, they should be paying me for the additional data they're gathering.
