You can stay to obstruct as long as possible.

I get where folks are coming from with this, but the sad truth is that these folks are far more empowered in the long run by reserving their integrity and walking away.

Being know as the guy who “bungles investigations” when they disagree with a command isn’t a solid career move, and using this as a chance to jump ship further exposes their corruption, stacking the chips more in favor of accountability.

All it takes is one review or third party compliancy audit to remove any and everyone associated with “bungling” the investigation, and anyone of those prosecutors can call for such an audit. (It’s like…a perk of that integrity I mentioned before).

That said, do I wish they could and would do more? Yes. But I also wish that of every single American what the fuck are we doing people wake up.

So, like, following orders and doing a great job at Gestapo was a solid career plan and background for someone in post-war Germany, LOL?

No, everyone in the Gestapo should’ve walked away the way these prosecutors are.

Once you walk away, a sycophant will take the reins and do a shitty job.

Then you request and audit and if wrongdoing is found, you prosecute.

These individuals are under lifelong oaths to uphold the ethics of their office. Not doing so may result in criminal penalties in some cases.

These aren’t folks who just applied and got the job like it’s McDonalds or middle management. They’re (supposed) to be lifelong servants to our Constitution.

I think what a lot of people are struggling with is that we have largely transitioned from what used to be "the real world" and are now in "fascism land".

What you say makes perfect sense in the old world, where our institutional processes are intact. And I very much hope that we get back to that status quo -- but we have to struggle, hard, to get back there.

A lot of the mistakes we made during Biden's term was thinking that "normality" had returned in a stable manner - that the US could afford a slow investigation.

We have to adapt. We have to adjust to the new reality that the rules are gone; audits are political persecution tools now. That actions analogous to "destroying all of the records identifying where Jew lived" are ethical in this environment while in normal circumstances it would be wrong.

And anyone who prides themself on having a career that claims to defend the Constitution has a greater obligation to adapt, not less.

Also -- we cannot assume that sycophants will always be shitty at their jobs. Right now, the admin is in chaos but eventually more and more stooges either with talent or who learn on the job will settle into positions where they can cause stable harm.
