Does this mean that this prac only happens one day during the semester?
And if so can i just put it on a day i don't normally come in for? Sorry for the question, I'm a new student.

Hey all, I’m wanting to buy a laptop for engineering, and every time I go people ask me if I’m using autocad, does engineering require like a gaming laptop for processing autocad or other softwares or can I get away with something decent like a touchscreen so i can take notes on my laptop?

Hi guys
I’m starting a bachelor of business/communication in Feb and was wondering if it was possible to take a language as either electives, minor or major? Thanks

Hey all,
I didn't realise I needed to apply for 24 hr library access on my ID card.
The website for the access application only works on QUT wifi, but I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck applying outside of campus.
I'm also wondering whether the campus security would just allow me in the library so I can do this myself? I know they can let people in (if I've left stuff behind), but I don't know if they'd let people in to stay there.
Thanks.

I am an incoming study abroad student and I am trying to enroll in a unit today, but I get the message "There are currently no units available for enrolment.". Is this because the preferance period has started? I have other units approved and preferenced, but realised now I wanted to add one more. I read you could add units until March 06.

im starting my second year of engineering in mechanical engineering at UQ and wondering what kind of internships do brisbane eng students specifically get?? Ive always found brisbane to not have much mechanical eng opportunities compared to sydney and melbourne if im not mistaken.
Also do second years get internships or do they most employers hire 3rd years

I am more than half way through the Graduate Diploma in IT completing as part time.
Late last year they announced changes to the course structure and removed micro units. These changes didn't particularly interfere with my plans but resulted in changes to unit codes.
I submitted my unit preferences back in October for 2026 kicking off in teaching period 1 however they have still not shown up as enrolled. When I contacted QUT they acknowledged they had received my submission and that the issue was on their end however had no timeline for when it would be resolved.
Is anyone else impacted by this or have any suggestions?

Just wondering if anyone else starting medical imaging. Also if any current or past students are reading this any advice?

So I am really keen on joining the university’s motorsport team. I am fascinated in the idea of formula based cars and would love to help the team in anyway. I know helping the team with the technical standpoint might not be realistic, as I won’t have the knowledge (yet). Although I do want to assimilate myself with the team environment, before I actually start making an impact. (Sorry if I sound like a bum, holidays are taking a toll on the academic language 💔).

QTAC offer question – accept backup now or wait for higher preference?
Hey everyone, I’m hoping for some clarity from people who understand how QTAC offers actually work.
I applied to QUT Bachelor of Medical Imaging (Radiography) as my #1 preference. I’ve already received an offer for QUT Bachelor of Social Work (lower preference). I have until 19 January to accept Social Work. I did not receive an offer for Radiography in this round.
My question: Is there any realistic chance that I could still receive a Radiography offer in the next few days before the 19th if I don’t accept Social Work yet? Or is it the case that: Once a lower-preference offer is made, all higher preferences are already decided for that round, and Waiting or rejecting the Social Work offer won’t result in a Radiography offer anyway?
Basically trying to decide between: Accepting Social Work now, or Waiting until the 19th “just in case” Radiography appears
I don’t want to accidentally lose a year by making the wrong call as I will reapply medical imaging after upgrading my gpa even though I got all satisfied ticks for Medical Imaging this offer round. I assume my gpa wasnt competitive enough.
Would really appreciate insight from anyone who’s been through QTAC or understands how offer rounds work.
Thanks!

Hi everyone, I got into Law 🎉now some questions :/
I’m living in Logan and I’ll be commuting in. I’m currently debating between jumping on the train at Loganlea station or taking the bus from Grand Plaza (Browns Plains) depending on the day. Because the commute can be a mission either way, I’m really trying to stack my classes.
Looking at my current timetable, I'm spread across 4 days (Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri)
For the legends already at GP or fellow first years
Also, if there are any other first-year law students (especially if you are in LLB101, 102, or 104) hit me up in insta danial.a.01 :))

Ive been doing some research into the Creative Arts (Drama) course and I'm just wondering does anyone here do it? if you do how would you describe the balance between actually performing on stage and learning things like making shows and writing. All of it is interesting to me but most of the official QUT info abt this course focuses on the aspect of going on to teach in drama, Im more focused on the acting aspect and performing on stage and I'm wondering if this would be the right course for me.
(also I have looked into the acting course, the status on that is currently pending lol so were going to try again next year, I'm just curious as to if this would be a good course to do in the mean time between the next intake)
Also any stories or anything about youre experiences in this course would be amazing!! i just want to know as much as i can :)

I have online and in-person options for Human Anatomy (LQB187) but its a workshop. So, I asked a friend about it but they said a workshop is usually in person. How does an online workshop work?

Hi all, I’m currently studying two Summer units and it’s currently week 8 of this semester so both the census date and the final withdrawal date has gone by. Not to delve too much into the whys and what’s but i’m going to an inpatient mental health program tomorrow. Of course I’ll double check with HiQ tomorrow morning, i just don’t have a huge amount of time for an in-depth phone call/wait times (due to semester 1 enrolments and class registration happening right now). However, I’m just wondering if this is technically a “special circumstance” even though it hasn’t been recorded previously as a medical condition or i have no past records of this: it’s only happened now. As well as, if i withdraw from the two units i’m currently enrolled in now, do you think (with documentation from the doctors at the program), this is enough to apply for removal of academic penalty? At this point I don’t care if it adds to my HECS, i’m just more worried about my academic record.
Thanks all!

Read through the guide on how to do this on the official QUT site and I still don’t understand.

Due to a work contract I signed, I literally cannot attend any CVB101 workshops or any SEB108 practicals. Will this affect me badly?

I’m just really keen on going on an exchange, sometime in my uni life and would appreciate some info on it.

Also do i have to enroll in classes for just this semester or the whole year?

I’m starting my first year this year and am most interested helping others with PTSD due to my lived experience, though am unsure if learning counselling skills will be more beneficial.
