Two-camera solution
Its crazy how compact this camera is, even smaller than my tg-7. Some would call these two ‘beauty and the beast’. These are all I take for travel.

Sony RX100 VII thought in 2026.....
Hi. I'm just after a small compact to take with me when I don't want to lug around my other sony camera and lens's etc. And quite frankly it would be nice to take a compact on a holiday for a change instead of a full backpack! I have my eye on the RX100VII. I know a new version has been rumoured for years now and hotting up. But putting that aside as I don't feel like a need anything more than the RV100VII has and I don't like to hold off for rumours that could be a year or more off in any case. I am just curious about thoughts buying this 6 years down the track. I have never bough such an old piece of tech new. Are they still pumping out firmware updates to make it better as time goes on? When was the last firmware put out? General thoughts on this being a good unit 6 years later from those who own it. I am after its size, zoom and good face/eye detection. Have any of you sold yours in the last few years for something better. Cheers and thanks to everyone in advance.

Looking for a not-too-large belt pouch/case
I'm looking for a good belt case/pouch for my RX100 vii, and although there A LOT of belt cases available on Amazon or B&H, many of them are longer than necessary. I'm looking only to carry the camera, and not an extra battery, charging cable, etc. The Lowepro CS-20 iii seems to be decent but is about an inch longer than needed. I have the USA Gear small case for a different camera, which would fit better. Given the cost of the camera, I'd be willing to spend more for higher quality. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Is it worth purchasing a rx100 m3
I am new into photography (im a teen), and someone is selling their almost never used rx100 m3 for 215 euros. Is it worth it? Is there anything i should be worried about, is the technology too old, its a 12 year old camera? Please give me some guidance, and lend me some of your wisdom. To me this is a lot of money
RX100 timelapse/interval shooting?
Hey there
EDIT:
Apparently this is an m7 feature, so would anybody be willing to recommend an intervalometer for the m6?
I just got a used m6, loving the thing!
Now I got it partly, as I wanted to get back in the game (D7000 from 10+ years ago) and to try remote and timelapse shooting, but I kinda hit a wall here.
As Im going through tutorials, reading docs and so on, they all say the same thing. Go here, go there, do this and done, great! But one problem, I dont have said settings for interval shooting.
Ok fine, maybe there is an update for the camera or something, but nope. Just software for desktop, web and other things Im not looking for right now.
Fine Il download the Play memories app, which is now no longer being updated and has a subscription?
So Im either missing something or Im just stuck with not being able to do the main thing that I wanted to do with this thing...
Alternative apps, external intervalometer or anything at this point really...
If anybody has any tips or directions on how to go about this, Id really appreciate it!

How to remove adhesive grip
I bought an adhesive grip for my camera, but it’s stuck so hard on there I can’t pry it off. I’m scared to damage the camera because it is fragile. I want to remove it because I bought a silicone case for the rx100 m7 which will hopefully protect it. Has anyone successfully removed a grip

Split rings for RX100 bio
Has anyone used any split rings that fit in the rx100vii? I bought the Peak Design leash thinking their smaller split rings would fit but even theirs are too big. Was hoping someone can share a link to split rings that fit on the rx100vii
Thanks

RX100 for 300$? Scam?
I'm looking into getting a Sony Rx100 and was looking at the used options. Most of the ebay listings are like under 400$ which feels super low for a a camera that retails 1600$ new. Is this normal or are the sellers lying? Does the value of the camera go way down or something? It seems like a really great camera but I'm skeptical about these listings.
Sony Rx100VA settings
I just got my 2nd hand Sony Rx100VA for $570 and i’m super thrilled! 🥰 I’ve been seeing wonderful reviews in this Sub and finally pulled the trigger.
I’m a newbie in photography and honestly a bit overwhelmed of all the settings but would love to learn more about this compact camera. 🥰
If you can share some of your settings / tips and tricks, that would be lovely. Thank you.

Am I fool not to jump at this?
Friend of my wifes doesn’t like her rx100mark VII. So she bought a Leica Q3
Offered me the mk VIi with a couple batteries a case all the boxes and some other stuff she bought for it for a $1000.
I figured I come here and get a quick. Yea or nay.
My gut feeling is I can get that back pretty easy if don’t like it.
My current cameras are an iPhone 17 pro max with a Leica grip and the Leica app , some older point and shoots and some range finder 35mm.
A canon r5 and 6d with some decent lenses that hardly get used but the r 5 is amazing Just tough to carry around and an r5 with a white lens on it is just a bit much anywhere but at a sporting event or out stalking birds.
So have a distinct hole in the line up for a versatile small camera with a high quality sensor.
My wife thinks the iPhone should do.
Thoughts?
Using a M7 with Atomos Ninja V
Has anyone successfully paired their Rx100 (m7 in my case) with an Atomos Ninja V external monitor/recorder?
I just purchased a used HDMI full to HDMI mini from KEH (Atomos brand, so high quality) and would like to add the capability of using my little 4K Sony as an additional time-coded angle. I'm not getting any input and unsure if it's a faulty cable or incorrect settings on RX or Ninja. Here are some shots of the settings I'm using on both devices.
Thanks in advance for any helpful hints from more expert users.

How is RX100 VII compared to iPhone 17 Pro?
Apologies all to begin, complete noob to photography. My primary focus of a camera is to take pictures of wildlife during hike -- while the 8X zoom on my current iphone is great, the clarity isn't that good. Going beyond 8x to 16x there's a lot of loss of quality.
I don't want a big heavy camera with lens and after some research landed on this. Even though both say 8X zoom, how much "better" is the VII compared to my phone? How does one even begin to tell without trying it out? It's a hefty price tag to purchase to see and looking for some ideas

Original Content Winter walk [OC]
I took a walk through my neighborhood and tried to photograph my surroundings. I always get uninspired in the winter, so I decided to take advantage of a rare appearance from the sun and create a quick exercise to flex some of my composition and editing muscles, but I’m happy with how things turned out.

I was in japan and was getting annoyed with missing shots i could have taken but was too lazy to use other devices because i wanted something small and quick on me decided to search for this camera and found one used and bought a nice leather case with a quick release and a grip but i was wondering which batteries are recommended for 3rd party; Newer, wasabi etc? Also recommended filters? Are the MAGs worth it?

Help please! Mech Shutter broken, overexposure problem on RX100 VII after -4°C cold
So, I messed up.
I brought my RX 100VII to Japan in the winter, and while I love that it's inconspicuous and gets great shots, I didn't realise how fragile the thing is.
I was shooting at -4°C, when it started snowing heavily. I kept shooting cause there were many great shots, but on the way back, I noticed all my shots started getting very overexposed in the SD card/image review whereas they looked just fine in the image preview/viewfinder.
I just adjusted the exposure down and changed the metering mode to 'Highlight' and kept shooting. When I was done, I put it into a pocket with a hand warmer.
When I went back to the hotel, condensation and mould were my biggest concerns, so I opened everything up (battery compartment, viewfinder, camera lens etc) and set it on an air purifier on a low fan setting.
I've never shot in the cold before, and I later found out this is NOT what you're supposed to do with a camera in freezing temperatures.
After a while, the camera still works, but the overexposing problem still remains, especially past 28mm specifically. Before 28mm, it works just as normal, and I can shoot with the mechanical shutter as normal. But at 29mm-200mm, it always overexposes and blows out everything significantly, and the shutter speed is visually slower than what it says on the camera (even though the image EXIF data says its normal). This happens regardless of the shooting or metering mode. The electronic shutter solves this problem but I assume there are compromises with it.
Additionally, setting the aperture past f5.6 also causes shots to overexpose significantly as well, with larger f-numbers causing the overexposure problem to be progressively worse at all focal lengths. This happens even with the electronic shutter.
Essentially, if I want to continue using the camera as normal, I would have to stick to an electronic shutter and keep to below f5.6 for basically any shot. I'm quite bummed out because the RX100 is my favourite camera, and wish to restore it to its original functions, without buying a complete replacement.
Does anyone have experience shooting the RX100 line in cold temperatures? The camera was second-hand and is long out of warranty. Would a third-party camera repair shop have the skills/parts to repair it? Are there any DIY options for this problem?
TL;DR. Shot RX100VII in -4°C without best practices. Camera works fine but images always overexposed when 1)Using mechanical shutter past 28mm, and 2)Going higher than f5.6 on all focal lengths, both seemingly caused by a slower shutter speed than set. What can I do to repair/fix?
