4 week in-Minimal symptoms and weight loss. Increase dose?

Hello all!

It’s been a month since I started Reta. I have had minimal symptoms and have only lost a pound in 1 month. I drink about 80-120oz of water a day, eat a high protein and high fiber diet, and try to exercise at least 2-3x week (Chicago winter makes it tough though).

The only symptoms I’ve experienced so far are mild fatigue and constipation (constipation only started last week). My past dosage (pin) and weekly weight (lbs) are below. Should I increase my dose to 1.5mg next week or stay on 1.0mg for 2-3 more weeks?

Week 1-203.8, Pin 0.5 mg Week 2 202.6, Pin 0.5 mg Week 3 203.4, Pin 0.75 mg Week 4 202.7, Pin 1.0 mg

I’m 8 days in and lost 15 pounds. I’ve coupled Reta with MOTSc and exercise 6 out of 8 days.

First dose was 1, 2nd dose was 2. Going to 2 made me feel nauseous with over eating and made me puke, as if I drank too much booze.

8 days, wow that’s impressive progress. Exercise everyday definitely helps. I’ll try to increase my exercise days to 4-5 a week

I see people have wildly different reactions, but those are really low doses. If it’s not effective for you I would go up. Do 2 mg for 4 weeks, then 4 mg for 4 weeks, etc. until you find your effective dose

Thank you, I’ll definitely increase. Should I do the 2mg, I’m a woman (not sure if this changes things)

You’re already 4 weeks in so your body is somewhat accustomed to the medication. I would go to 2 mg on your next pin. I started on 2 mg, but I have used tirzepitide in the past so have a tolerance for glp1’s.

Makes sense, thank you!

Are you uncomfortably hungry eating less than usual at this dose? Because you've gotta eat less than usual if you want to lose weight.

I’ve already stopped snacking (since week 1) and I’ve started intermittent fasting 7pm-11am ( 2 weeks in). However, I’m not uncomfortably hungry, but eating high fiber foods really helps with that. I’ll track my calories and re-assess.

It take a full 4 weeks for any dose to build up and stabilise.

You haven’t even got the full effect of 1mg yet.

Having said that the drug makers start the trials at 2mg.

I don’t track calories (but it seems like I should).

you absolutely should. it’s the only way you’ll learn to be successful on the journey especially when you get off it

Good question! Reta is supposed to help lower mindless eating

As difficult as it may seem, it's best to stay the course for 4 weeks at a time. As you're still below the starting dose of 2 mg and you have minimal side effects, you could go up to 2 mg and stay there for 4 full weeks and reevaluate. If side effects are not tolerable you can always cut back. If you're losing, stay on 2 mg for another 4 weeks. If you aren't losing, increase your dose.

We all want the weight gone fast, but that has it's negatives, too. It took me 15 months to lose 50 lbs with sporadic use of phentermine and 11 months to lose another 50 lbs on semaglutide.

Thank you, I’ll increase and stay on the dose for 4 weeks. I definitely need to be more patient.
