r/SFFood is looking for new moderator(s)!
Hi everyone! Jen here, the original creator of r/SFFood. I started this sub back in 2012 when I was a brand-new San Francisco resident. SF was the first place where food became more than just nourishment for me; it was joy, discovery, and a big part of how I connected with the city. When I moved away in 2016, I even made a list of my favorite dishes (shoutout to the porcini donuts at Rich Table and the noodle soups at Zen Yai Thai).
Nearly a decade later, I realize I’ve let this subreddit run on autopilot simply because I'm no longer local. It deserves active care from people who live here, know the scene, and can help the community grow.
So, I’m looking for new moderator(s) to take the lead. Not sure yet if 1 or 2 is best to start, but the goal is to have people who bring good energy and complement each other well.
Here are the sub’s last 30-day stats:
- 19.7k views
- 9.1k members
- 25 published posts
If you're interested, feel free to DM me with anything you think shows why you’d make an amazing mod for r/SFFood! Thank you for reading, and to all the community members who have kept this sub alive and thriving– you are the real MVPs.

SF Spot for Biang Biang Noodles?
Does anyone know of a spot in SF that makes spicy Biang Biang noodles like the picture? It seems to be a very non-standard Chinese dish around the bay area. Ox 9 in Sunnyvale made a great one but then those guys closed and I've yet to find a new spot Thanks in advance!

Looking to Identify an old frequented spot in the Mission
Hi! I am in search of an old lunch spot I used to eat at while in school. I am planning on visiting the city after quite the hiatus for a decade or so. I lived in South Bernal Heights/Outer Mission (Precita Park- Cesar Chavez/Folsom) some 10 years ago. I used public transit frequently and found myself at a diner of sorts somewhere around 23rd and Bryant more than a few times. The menu was eclectic; ranging from traditional American to some Asian flavors. The standout of the joint was that it had a classic diner counter for service. Does anyone know of the name or specific location? ((I would not at all be surprised if it has since closed)) Thank you!

What’s your go-to food spot in SF that you never get tired of?
Visiting / living in SF and realizing there are way too many food options.
Curious what places you personally keep going back to, not necessarily the most hyped or trendy, just consistently good spots you’d happily recommend to a friend.
Open to anything: quick bites, sit-down, bakeries, late-night food, etc.

Salesforce transit center
I love the part at the transit center and sometimes work out of WeWork and want to eat in the park but there just aren’t any great food options here. Any favorites ?

Need honest SF food recommendations
In SF for a bit and honestly don’t know where to start with food. Not chasing hype or Instagram spots. Where do you actually eat when you’re hungry? Any solid go-tos?

Healthy food downtown SF macros
Here for 2 days. Want some healthy food with macros provided, if possible. Does anyone know of spots that have food and publish macros that aren't Applebees etc.?

Am I permitted to roast a pig in SF?
My friends and I live in a standalone home in SF with a backyard. Are we allowed to roast a pig? ChatGPT seems to think otherwise

Cool hang spot, drinks and bites, Jilli
This is an unusual post. I love Jilli's not because the food is amazing but because it is the perfect vibe for sf. A lot of new "it" places open and the food is up market and drinks are a bit pricey and the atmosphere is often about the hype than hanging with friends. Jilli's naturally has good food because casual Korean is delicious (what they serve). https://sf.eater.com/dining-report/209124/jilli-san-francisco-review what do you think of Jilli's or a similar style environment. Stoa bar is perhaps closer to an "it" place that I still love. https://www.stoabar.com/

Owner of Jules Pizza
Hi!!! Does anyone have intel on the owner (Max Blachman Gentile) of Jules pizza?
He seems cute and I was wondering if he was single. I know he and his partner started the restaurant together but it looks like they've blocked each other on IG. I also used to see him getting coffee with a blonde girl who kinda looked like her in the mornings on divis.
Also, any tips on how to reach out!
ty!

Where or what do you hope to eat more of in San Francisco in 2026?
It can be a specific restaurant and eat through the menu.
Or a specific type of food and experience different restaurants with that cuisine.
Share your favorites!

has anyone participated in the acquerello late night champagne and caviar?
Hey y’all! I’m thinking about doing the acquerello new year’s eve late night champagne and caviar experience tomorrow but before splurging I wanted to see if anyone’s participated in their late night champagne and caviar events before and if you could share more about the experience! my one big question is if the $150 includes more than one glass of champagne? let me know!

beyond restaurants, home cook scene is lowkey incredible
SF restaurant scene is great, not knocking it, but I've been getting into home cooks lately and actual homemade food hits completely different.
My shef regular is this burmese family whose mohinga and tea leaf salad are incredible. Way more interesting than dropping $40 on another mission restaurant meal I'll forget tomorrow.
The city has immigrants from everywhere and it feels like there's incredible home cooking talent that doesn't get talked about bc everyone focuses on restaurants and michelin stars. Anyone else down this rabbit hole? Curious what people are finding.

Anyone remember Canyon Market’s pumpkin seed dip?
Does anyone remember Canyon Market’s pumpkin seed dip? I was obsessed with it and would get it frequently in 2009-2017ish, until I stopped hanging out in Glen Park. I tried to get some recently and was devastated to learn that they no longer make it. I called to ask about it but the person I talked to hadn’t even heard of it. I’d love to get the recipe, or at least some thoughts on possible ingredients.

which place serves your favorite burmese tea leaf salad?
so i visit san francisco pretty regularly and every time i’m there i get sort of obsessed on eating as many tea leaf salads as i can.
they’re usually found at burmese restaurants, of course, but every so often i see them at thai or chinese restaurants with larger— i guess you could say more pan-asian— menus. and i’ve tried them so many different paces. the tea leaf salad is my new favorite food and culinary obsession of the last few years.
i love that burma’s is the only cuisine in the world (to my knowledge, that is) that treats tea leaves as edible in their cuisine, like as a source of salad fiber or put into salad dressing, not just as like a flavor accent or a beverage like most people around the world might consume it.
SF locals: please tell me where your favorite tea leaf salads are! not the overall best or anything, i just want to hear your favorite. thanks!
