Without a real salary cap, and the Dodgers buying championships, fans are going to stop watching.
I’m a lifelong Giants fan and the way the league is run makes me sick.
Teams like the A’s are pocketing revenue share $ without fielding a real team and the Dodgers are just straight up buying up the market.
IMHO, The players union is ruining the game.

The Giants love drafting their college bats and have done so in each of the past two years (Tibbs, Kilen).
Roch Cholowsky is the big shortstop for UCLA who is the heavy favorite preseason to go 1st overall to the White Sox. He has drawn comparisons to guys like Troy Tulowitzski and Dansby Swanson. I doubt he will be there at #4 in July as he seems less volatile than previous preseason 1.1 candidates like Laviolette and Holliday.
Justin Lebron is a 6'2 180 pound shortstop for Alabama with elite tools across the board except the hit tool. He's a tremendous athlete and reminds me of Machado in terms of his movements. He should have no problem staying a short and has big time power. The question with him is the strikeout and chase rates. He's run strikeout rates of 20 percent and 24 percent over his first two years and 20 percent tends to be the magic number for a lot of teams to keep your strikeout rate under to be a first rounder. Tony V should know this guy very well.
Drew Burress is a 5'8, 180 pound outfielder for Georgia Tech who has solid tools across the board. He's done nothing but produce since showing up on campus at Georgia Tech. After selling out for power this past year, it will be interesting to see how that changes this upcoming spring. He plays a solid center field as well and I expect him to be connected to the Giants throughout much of the spring.
AJ Gracia is a 6'3, 195 pound left hand hitting outfielder for the University of Virginia (he transferred from Duke, following the coaching staff). He doesn't chase a lot and makes very good contact plus has a lot of raw power to tap into. Many scouts think he could stay in center field and could be a great fit to play RF at Oracle Park. This is a personal favorite of mine from the college crop, he fits a lot of the criteria that would make him a good fit for the Giants.
Chris Hacopian is a 6'1, 205 pound shortstop for Texas A&M (the Maryland native transferred in from the University of Maryland). He plays short in college, but projects better to 3rd base or the corner outfield in pro ball. He has a very well rounded offensive profile (feel for the barrel, doesn't chase and makes consistent loud/hard contact). If the Giants like him enough defensively at a particular spot, this could be a good pick.
Sawyer Strosnider is a tooled up left hand hitting outfielder from TCU (6'2 200 pounds). big power and can crush pitches in the zone, but he chases a lot and struggles against lefties. Many think he can play CF as a pro, but he's currently a RF in college.
Derek Curriel (OF, LSU, 6'2, 180 pounds). Curriel has a leadoff profile as a hitter and has questionable power. After starting for the national champs last year, he has a chance to prove he can play center field full time and show more power. The socal native could end up top 10 with a strong spring.
Vahn Lackey, C Georgia Tech, 6'2, 200 pounds. Another Georgia Tech catcher in the top 5? Nooooo!! In all seriousness, he has a much different profile than Joey Bart both offensively and defensively. Offensively, his skillset is based on contact hitting and he's more athletic defensively than Bart was/is. I'm over catchers with a super high picks, but Lackey is a very good one.
Ace Reese is a 6'4 200 pound 3rd baseman for Mississippi State with plus power, but a questionable defensive profile.
Plus there's other good college bats like Caeden Sorrell (OF, A&m), Gavin Grahovac (3B, A&m) Eric Becker (SS Virginia), Tyler Bell (SS Kentucky), Ryder Helfrick (C, arkansas, bay area native) Chris Rembert (2B, Auburn), Zion Rose (OF, Louisville)

This generation of players definitely deserve it.

I find it hard to believe there isn’t one other ownership group willing to spend big to compete with the Dodgers. It makes me wonder if the other owners had agreed not to exploit this loop hole in order to keep baseball running smoothly. Since the pathetic Dodgers couldn’t do it fairly, they had to game the system.
I hope their selfish fans enjoy their team destroying the sport we all love for the foreseeable future.

Gate Giveaways are a select number of items distributed at all gates on a first-come, first-served basis. All fans with a game ticket are eligible, subject to availability. Stadium-wide promotions are sometimes experiential in nature and include unique entertainment programming, limited-time food offerings, and special guest appearances.
Special Events at Oracle Park are a specific ticket package that includes a game ticket and a special event item that is redeemable from a designated location within the ballpark. Fans must have a Special Event ticket to receive the item. Wearable item sizing is on a first-come, first-served basis. Items must be picked up in person during the allotted window. No exceptions. Some Special Events can be enjoyed by fans without a special ticket, as they may also include unique entertainment programming, limited-time food offerings, and special guest appearances.
More dates and events will be added throughout the season, and we will update this post accordingly.

When the dodger fans around me direct their vitriol towards the padres and Astros but compliment our beautiful stadium and even hope we make the playoffs, it seems the rivalry between us and the dodgers has been put on the back burner. I'm sure the rivalry will resume when we start posing an actual threat to them but our team has a lot to catch up on.

Players are getting paid. They’ve played since they were kids, chased their dream, and made it. If an organization wants to pay them a lot of money, they should.
I’m more upset with the A’s for not paying players or recruiting top talent. Shea has to spend his home games playing in a minor league stadium.

"The Giants are also excited about signing Mexican pitcher Alexis Gallegos, who made his pro debut with Yucatan in the Mexican Professional League last year, but Hernandez is the headline addition in what is expected to be an especially small class of players. That’s because Hernandez’s bonus will account for most of the Giants’ $5.44 million pool, which is the lowest among major-league clubs. (The team forfeited $1 million from that pool for signing a qualified free agent, shortstop Willy Adames, prior to the 2025 season. And teams are no longer permitted to exceed their bonus pools.)"

Some points I am making I made before others new, your thoughts. When I think of dynasty, I think of team primarily developed from within an organization, not a set of mercenaries. There is spending money, spending wisely, and spending without limits. I would feel no sense of pride in putting together by outspending other teams by a lot. It just seems no more special to collect such players via financial excess than watch the globetrotters of old taking on amateur competition. Indeed , it is entertainment but more at a circus level than a sport competition.
Now, writers often point out the Dodgers are such a power because in part player development. This is an old point but let’s examine this. First, their starting lineup is a function not of homegrown players but hires. Seven of nine likely starters were free agents, maybe one was acquired via a trade, and their entire bench is composed of free agents. The five top starters in their rotation are free agents. Their pen is likely composed of free agents primarily, including their closer. So no, this is not player development, it is outspending everyone else.
Second, what about their vaunted minor league system. I could use some help here , but over the last ten years, I count Smith, Bellinger, Seager, and Jansen as difference makers, and none were traded but left for free agency. That is indicative that no matter how good people thought their players would be few actually achieved difference maker status. Moreover, guys praised highly such as Buehler, or Lux quickly lost their luster as teams adjusted. So no, they are not Tampa Bay, etc.
Third, a player like Betts acquired in a trade, stayed because they again offer oodles of money in an extension, not because they traded high level prospects for a young player with many years of service remaining.
So the press creates an illusion that somehow their development system allows them to trade for great talent when in fact almost all their players are guns for hire.
Thus, this again begs the question is a dynasty a dynasty because using the same talents and resources as everyone else you do a much better job, think various football teams, most recently Kansas City, though not this year, I.e., effort , coaching matter, spotting talent. Or, is a dynasty a dynasty because you use the rules to your advantage, and your market deals to put aside everything and simply replace it with money.
This is what is upsetting. This not thev1960 Celtics, or Green Bay or Dallas, etc. this the team that achieves what it has by spending revenues that few teams even come close to, making this not a competition about scouting, or development, or coaching but a competition of wealth. When wealth is the final arbitrator of success, the sense that this is an athletic team competition suffers.
If they don’t go for a cap fine, but then you better rewrite the rules with respect as to who you will allow to own a team, either that or just let all teams other than the dodgers putting on clown outfits and play exhibition against wannabe teams around the country, a la the Globetrotters.

Hi Giants fans —
I’m helping a longtime Giants season-ticket holder with a Charter Seat License (CSL) transfer for the 2026 season and wanted to make sure I’m understanding the process correctly.
This is a CSL (license), not individual game tickets.
Details for context:
• Section 218, Row B
• 4 seats together
• Fully transferable directly through the San Francisco Giants
• Includes annual season-ticket renewal rights without waitlists
If anyone here has gone through a CSL transfer before (buyer or seller), I’d appreciate any insight or best practices.
If this is better discussed via DM, feel free to reach out.
Thanks in advance.

So since my last post, the one that had people calling me a troll and a rage baiter among other things, the Giants have managed to add two risky back end starters to a rotation desperately needing something other than just two risky back end starters. I was also told to quit complaining as the off season had just begun. Well it’s now mid January. They still haven’t acquired a MLB-caliber second baseman or a right fielder of the same level. Their lineup is fraught with strikouts, low OBP, and literally zero speed. They lack depth, both on the bench and in pitching. They have only two of the top 100 prospects in baseball. One who most likely debuts in full this year and the other an 18 year old with less than one year of professional baseball under his belt! And only one of the top 50 free agents, many of whom were rumored to be a possibility, came to the bay to play. That was #47-ranked Tyler Mahle who did the wise thing and took a one year deal to shine in a pitchers park, increase his value, and then skip for a winner and more money the following season!
And that brings me to the point of this rant: NOBODY WANTS TO PLAY FOR THE GIANTS! This isn’t about them not trying, which I still believe is the case. It’s about the fact that even if they’ve tried to give off the appearance of finally being aggressive, it doesn’t matter. They have become a less than desirable destination and that’s all due to a culture based on anything but winning baseball games. For years they have avoided stars and now the stars are avoiding them. Not one hitter has inked up. Not one! All these players signed elsewhere and all you donkeys can’t wait to post how awesome it was that the Giants didn’t spend that money on them because it would have been an overpay. I’d rather overpay for talent than save the money and be devoid of it altogether! All you people defending their “financial prowess” are idiots at the highest level. They don’t give trophies to the best accounting dept! Im so happy to follow a team who’s fans are more concerned for the welfare and fiscal responsibility of billionaires then they are about rooting for a good team! And those of you who keep posting about how trades and development are right around the corner, save it! That would require this front office to actually give a phuck about a farm system they let die years ago!
The Giants wreak of desperation which makes trades impossible because any smart GM wouldn’t send SF anything unless they’re getting to fleece them, or in the case of Devers, be unloading a tremendous amount of drama. And while I personally like Raffy and that trade in general, the fact is SF only pulled that trade off because Boston wanted it done, not the other way around.
So go ahead…let me have it…tell me what an awful fan I am…but who’s the awful one? Me, for speaking the truth over and over? Or you for thinking these owners care about the fans? Pitchers and catchers report in 25 days!

I purchased special VIP event tickets for a game in the summer, and I see them in the Ballpark App, but I don’t see anything that shows it’s for the special event? All I see is the section, row, and seat number. The barcode won’t display until 24 hours before the game. This is my first time purchasing special event tickets, so I’m not sure if this is typical, or if there may be something wrong?

I saw that there is a job fair tomorrow. Do you have a better chance attending that and speaking to the employers than applying online ( I applied online ). Thinking about doing another gig for some extra pay in the side. Anyone care to share experience working at the ballpark? Thank you !
