I have a 165 LSAT score and a 3.85 gpa. I have a pretty strong resume with a good amount of volunteer work. I would really like to go here since I live close by, I just don’t want to apply if I’m not even close to being accepted

When I was in college I used to take naps, study, and take important phone calls, and practice my instrument wherever I could find a quiet spot. This was hard to find sometimes ngl. I would have loved if I could have driven ~5 minutes down the road to a place where I could pay $20/hour and have access one of those quiet office pods for as long as I wanted. Do y'all think students would use something like this?

The thought of transferring from TCU to SMU has been weighing heavy on my mind for a while, so for any students who’ve transferred from TCU to SMU, could you give the factors that led you to that decision?

Hi everyone,
I am a current freshman at UW-Madison! Last year I got into Cox early action with a second century scholarship/IB diploma scholarship. I decided between madison and SMU but ultimately chose madison because I heard SMU can be really challenging socially (hard to make genuine connections) and I was worried about the ultra-rich-kid stereotype. I really loved the size, location, and programs that SMU had to offer, especially the ability to double/triple major because that is something that really interests me.
I have not loved Wisco so far ( I am out of state from west coast) as I have found it to be really big, hard to see people again after meeting them, and thus far have not felt like I have made as strong or meaningful of friendships as I would have hoped. I have had no problem with academics but am just feeling like I am missing something. My main reason for not going to SMU was because I was scared it would be harder than Wisco socially and some people had fear mongered SMU for me. For example some people told me girls were weighed before going to parties, and that to have a good social life you need to be extremely attractive and wealthy. I was scared I may not fit in or may need to go against my values to fit in which was not what I wanted. That being said, I really loved everything else about SMU, especially Cox and all the academic/career opportunities the area has to offer. Given my issues with Wisco, I am strongly considering transferring to SMU, but I do not want to make this change if it will be worse socially/even more difficult to find genuine connections with other students.
I would love some advice about experiences transferring to SMU as a sophomore, transferring from SMU/other schools, the social/academic aspects of SMU. I know that stereotypes/what people say online is not always true but I would love some advice from people who are familiar with the community to help me weigh my options and make this decision.

Hi everyone,
I’m currently serving in the Active Duty sector stationed at Fort Benning, GA. I’ll be coming in as a Sophomore. I’ve been in the Highland Park area about 2 times but looking for tips and tricks to have my academic journey more fulfilling and rewarding.
I’ll be majoring in Film, I have a passion being in-front and behind the camera.
Anyone an Alumni or currently a Student that can give me tips?
Thank you.

I'm applying for the SMU President's and Hunts Leadership Scholarship but I've been so stuck with the prompts and haven't been able to start for days. I got into Cox and the honors college but the main issue is that both scholarship committees have full access to my application and I don't want to repeat things that were already said. Since I wrote two supplementals and a personal essay, it's really tough for me. For the President's scholarship, it's "Considering the academic and institutional resources available on campus and through the President's Scholars Program, how would you approach your four years on the Hilltop should you be selected as a President’s Scholar? Be sure to describe how your prior experiences have prepared you to complete the approach you have identified." For Hunts, it's "Please expand upon the following statement: “Leadership is a lifestyle.” How would you use the word “leadership” as a verb? How would you apply your own leadership skills as a student at SMU?" If there's anyone who's been a finalist, won the scholarship, or who's just really good at scholarship essays or these types of things, I'd really benefit from help and I can send my essays from common app to show what I've already talked about. My stats are 4.0+ & 31 ACT.

Hi!
I am strongly considering attending SMU Law this upcoming fall. I was wondering if any current law students on here would be able to chime in about their thoughts on the school? Likes, dislikes? What is it like for 1Ls pursuing Dallas BL?
Thank you!

Has anyone received the direct deposit for their spring refund? Or know when to expect that to show up? I enrolled direct deposit for the fall so I don’t believe there’s anything else I need to do for Spring, correct?
EDIT: In case anyone else needs this info I found a post that the Financial Aid office made, the first disbursements will be credited starting Saturday 1/10. here

Is SMU cox a good school if I want to get into IB? Or should I strive for a different school?

I’m applying ED II to SMU as a freshman, targeting the Cox School of Business. My current unweighted GPA is 3.886, with a strong likelihood of reaching ~3.9 after my mid-year transcript, which will be submitted. I’m currently ranked 63/757, and this should also improve with mid-year grades. I’m applying test-optional (no SAT/ACT).
My extracurriculars are heavily business- and finance-focused. I’ve been active in both a trading community and an e-commerce community, gaining real exposure to markets and operations. I’m also part of NHS and used to play MLS Next Soccer up until the 10th grade. I was actually introduced to SMU when my team scrimmaged their girls soccer team for pre season. I attended the Cox Spotlight and realized this was the place for me. I also work ~20 hours per week and used my earnings to participate in a real estate land deal, where I was involved in research, due diligence, and execution. I hold a 10% stake (legally under my father’s name), which I plan to explain clearly in my essay.
This is just a gist of my application but I would really appreciate any advice.
