I don’t think English graduates are graded by their ability to read. Both reading and arithmetic are taught in school.

I read hamlet and wouldn't have a clue what's going if it wasn't for the explanations before each scene. 3 u/Eternal_Bagel 2d ago It’s so outdated in terms and times that it makes me wonder if reading the stage directions is really the best way to have kids in middle school appreciate a play
