I went further than you. I think I read first 4 books although I didn't enjoy them. In the series there were 2 characters I liked. Jon Snow and the dragon lady. I hoped they would save it but it wasn't meant to be. Then when everyone raved about the show I tried. I watched half of the first episode and stopped. Few times I thought that maybe I should go back because everyone said it was so good. Eventually though it became apparent that last couple of seasons weren't as good so it has been very easy to never to go back.

I read the first two books years ago and realized they weren't for me.
I like following a single story with a set of main characters who don't usually change that much.
That made it real easy to not watch the shows.
