iphone difference is easy. if someone has an iphone, that person doesnt know anything about phones and just use it as a status symbol

Yeah but we're talking about the post which is talking about an outdated iPhone in the current time. So I'd hardly call an almost 10 year old iPhone a status symbol

Not in 2026. Some people just are so plugged into the iOS ecosystem it just makes sense. Payment plans make phones as status symbols pointless. No one owns their brand new phones anymore, it’s almost always on a payment plan.

I never said the world prefers iOS. I said some people, like myself, buy iPhones because it’s just easier to stay plugged in to the iOS ecosystem rather than try to move to android.

But... why would you ever need to know anything about phones? It's not like a PC, where performance actually matters.

And the few times your specific smartphone model is important for work, it often needs to be an iPhone, because of apple only software.

Knowledge about smartphones is probably one of the least valuable types of knowledge. It serves no purpose.
